Instructions for Tri-Fold Cascade Concertina card By Yvonne Tune Card Art Kilcoole 1. With a pencil Draw a Mark on a A4 sheet of card at the top at 7cm. And on the opposite end mark the card at 14cm draw a diagonal line from the 7cm to the 14cm mark, as in picture below. 2. Cut the card through the line giving you 2 equal shapes 3. Score each panel of the card on the A4 half fold and on the A4 concertina fold, turn card and score it again on the A4 Concertina fold line. This will give you 4 equal width panels 4. To make the slots to form the cascade card, place the card at the straight edge on your score board, using your ruler, place the edge of ruler at the narrowest edge and mark the card at the two out side score lines. On one card you need to cut through the scored line from the top to the mark, And on the other card you need to cut through the scored line from the bottom to the mark, Interweave the slots together and it will form this Shape. To make your matting and layering panels 5. Repeat Step 1, on the pink card, when cut, you need to trim ½ cm from the straight edge, and cut 4 x 6 ½ cm panels, starting with the Smallest end, otherwise the panels will be to Big 6. Repeat step 1, on the piece of printed paper and cut 1cm from the straight edge, and cut 4 x 6cm panels. starting with the Smallest end, otherwise the panels will be to Big. 7. Matt and layer all panels (remember you have right and left hand panels) using glue, stick panels to the cascade card. TOP TIP Arrange all the panels flat on the table before you start sticking then to the main card. So that you know where to to stick the panels. Mark the panels 1 to 4 in pencil while the card is interweaved. 8. I Decorate with the pink flowers and leaves on opposite panels added the pearls to the centre of the flowers, and lastly add the butterflies. 9. Stick a 15cm Sq card to the back of card to make it stronger, and to add an insert. 10. Add a greeting to the front 11. And your insert to the back card. This card folds flat, and can fit in a 15cm Sq envelope, To make a box for this size card, Cut an A4 sheet of card 21cm Square, and score it on the second line of the box maker side of the crafters companion board. for the lid and the base, Recipe for this card 1 x A4 sheet of cream card 1 x A4 sheet of pink card 2 x A4 sheets of printed paper, you need 2 sheets because you need a right and a left panel. 1 x 15cm Square card flowers (wild orchid crafts) butterflies (Martha Stewart Large Monarch Butterfly punch) self adhesive pearls for centre of flowers. -Due to the many requests I'm posting this tutorial. Thank you for the wonderful comments. This is the card that many requested measurements for. This particular Double Sided Step Card was designed for A7 envelopes. Since the writing space in the interior of the card is much less than usual I wanted to have it large enough so that a person could have enough space to write a little something. To begin with the best cardstock to use for the base of these kind of cards is heavyweight 100# cardstock. If you are using a lighter weight cardstock, cut two pieces and after cutting & scoring them both, but before folding, adhere the two together with Scor Tape all around the edges and on either side of the cut lines. This will help give the added stability needed to keep the card standing without the base spreading apart until it practically lies flat. If every fold is pressed well using a bone folder, that will also help the card with stability. Another hint - if you never have made a step card before you can practice making it with lightweight cardstock before using your good stock. 1)Cut the cardstock (heavy) to 7" x 10" 2)Place length (10") vertically on your paper trimmer and place left edge on the 4 3/4" line with the blade at the 1" mark on the ruler. Press down and cut down to the 8 1/2" mark on the ruler of your trimmer. 3)Slide the left side of the paper to the right and position the left side on the 2 1/4" mark, and as the first time, with the blade at the 1" mark on the blade ruler, press down and cut down to the 8 1/2" mark on the ruler as below. 4)Now place the piece on your score pad with the 10" horizontally across the top and score between the cut lines at 1" score. Remember to score only between the cut lines. 5) Score only between the cuts at 1", 2", and 3 1/2". At 5" score right through from the top down through to the bottom end. Then back to scoring only between the cut lines at 71/2" and 81/2". Using a ruler may help you to get the correct lines when scoring between the cut lines. Here is a photo where I've taken a pen and drawn all the cuts with solid lines, folds with dotted lines, and included all measurements. 6) When folding, DO NOT FOLD the 8 1/2" score line. That is there just for a little give. So the score lines are folded as 1" - mountain, 2" - valley, 3 1/2" - mountain, at 5" the sides are mountain, but middle section is a valley, & 71/2" - mountain. When all folded, the card should be 7" x 5" (A7). If you are wondering about how I got the butterflies to float, I cut three clear strips of plastic sheet at 1/4" and attached them at varying heights, trimming the strips accordingly. You could use flowers, dragonflies, numbers, letters, clouds, birds, etc in like manner. One happy paper crafter that requested the measurements for this Double Sided Step Card is having her birthday in a day or two, so I want to say to her, "Have a very happy birthday!" Skusiłam się i spróbowałam. Zaczęłam od najprostszej wersji, ale możliwości na manipulowanie formą jest ogrom. Bazą jest tzw. tri shutter card, do której doklejać można kolejne elementy, rozbudowując w ten sposób podstawową bazę kartki. W necie można znaleźć wiele kursów na taką kartkę, ja przy cięciu i gięciu swojej skorzystałam z TEGO. A zatem moja pierwsza DOUBLE TRI SHUTTER CARD. Stanowi część kompletu ślubnego zapakowanego do torebki.: Po złożeniu kartkę przewiązałam wstążką, by się samoczynnie nie otwierała.: Po rozłożeniu kartka wygląda tak.: Życzenia wkleiłam z przodu kartki, a na tył dałam kartonik z podpisem - pod nim przeplotłam wstążkę do zawiązania kartki.: Zrobiłam dodatkowo kopertę na upominek pieniężny, bo rozmiary mojej kartki nie dawały możliwości na umieszczenie w niej kieszonki z przeznaczeniem na pieniądze.: Tu może uda się dostrzec fakt, że kartka mieni się delikatnie białym brokatem, którym potraktowałam wykonane z papieru wizytówkowego róże, inicjały i tekturkowe napisy.: Na podsumowanie - komplet w komplecie:).: Kartkę zgłaszam na wyzwanie #8 - Bingo w Studio 75 z realizacją linii skośnej: kwiaty - wycinanka - brokat. Do wykonania kartki użyłam m.in. papieru 02 i 04 z kolekcji "List miłosny".

These fabulous cards fold out to create a wonderful display piece that you can fill with gorgeous stamps, beautiful patterned papers or even a gallery of different sized photos. As you can see from the picture below, they are very long and require two pieces of cardstock to create but they still fold up to a standard card size for postage. Use this template for measuring, scoring and cutting your cardstock. Pay close attention to where the cuts are situated and where the score lines are marked. In general, the cut lines are horizontal and the score lines are vertical. 1. Start with a 12" x 12" sheet of cardstock. 2. Cut the cardstock in half so you end up with two pieces measuring 12" x 6". 3. Using the template above, score and cut your two pieces of cardstock. 4. Mountain and valley fold both pieces of cardstock as shown in the photos below (refer to the template for fold lines). It's a little tricky to get your fingers around each section as they are very close together. Make sure you press firmly on each fold for a nice crisp line. 5. Adhere the two 4" sections together with glue or double sided tape. It doesn't matter which side is on top. View from above. 6. To decorate, cut 18 patterned paper squares measuring 13/4" x 13/4". I used two co-ordinating pieces but you could use a single design or even different papers for each square. Adhere to each of the small panels. Cut two strips of patterned paper measuring 53/4" x 13/4" for the long sides and adhere. These will be visible on the front of your card when you fold it up. 7. Add stamps, embellishments, ribbons or whatever else you would like to complete the inside of your card. 8. Due to the bulk of the card, it's a good idea to create a belly band to hold it all together when its folded. I simply used a strip of cardstock, a strip of patterned paper and some embellishments to finish it off. My band forms the main decoration for the front of my card. It can be a little tricky to get all the little squares to fold up in the right places!

I decided to make a tri-fold shutter card following Beate's tutorial here--and I'm really happy with the results, though this was one of the most labor-intensive cards I've made yet. It's for a very special person, to accompany the Silhouette memory keeper box and the mix 'n' mingle album. Hello, everyone! My computer is back! Yay! Well, not completely. My video card is acting up and some of my softwares are still missing. But it will do for now. This week at Club Anya and Friends, it's my turn to host Whatcha Tootin' About Wednesday and I want to share with you this double side step card! When I made my first double side step card, a few people asked if there is a tutorial or a template for it. I haven't seen too many tutorials and the templates I have seen so far are in cm. So, I went ahead and created this template in inches, much easier to follow and understand. Step 1: Cut cardstock to 5x7 and score as indicated on template. I find it easier to mark the cardstock with pencil first and the score. I then double check the measurements with my ruler. If the measurements are off, the card will not fold neatly. Step 2: Crease your folds (mountain, valley, etc) as indicated on the template. It's a good idea to make a sample and keep it as future reference. Also, you may want to make extras so that the next time you want to make one of these, you have the card base ready. Side view of card Step 3: Decorate you card as desired. Here is my card. The Angled Tri-Fold is a great design and easy to make once you have the instructions. I used the Garden Walk Designer Series Paper to make all these cards. Aren’t they pretty?
