Today I'm mixing a bit of the old and with a bit of the new, so you get to have a sneak peak at Swirly Bird - one of the new sets available in the 2016 -2017 Annual Catalogue. I've used one of the designs from the It's my Party DSP pack for the background (yay, I cut into another sheet), and then Swirly Bird has been for the stamped images and die cut is from the Swirly Scribbles thinlets - these items will also be available as a bundle. I think you will see a lot of this set as it has endless possibilities for a variety of themes and designs. The 2 smaller flowers are stamped with Sweet Sugarplum and Flirty Flamingo - both from the 2016-2018 In Color collection. I made a small banner and stamped with one of the many sentiments from Teeny Tiny Sentiments I also stamped one of the corners on the inside of the card Thanks for stopping by today, hope you enjoyed the sneak peek! Hey there Bloggers! It’s Wednesday! Half through the week. Today I have to be in the office for a meeting. I have to admit that it’s very hard to get up and actually get out of the house to go to work. I much prefer working from home LOL. At least tonight I will be hanging out with my favourite ladies for dinner. It’s been awhile since we’ve gotten together, so I am really looking forward to some catching up. Today’s card once again features the Swirly Bird stamp set and Swirly Scribbles thinlits. It also features some of the new In Colors. I really like this combination, it’s very cheerful. On this card we also used the Glitter Splatter technique. --------------------------------------- Don't forget to Like me on Facebook! Oh my, Swirly Scribbles is amazing! I must admit, when I first saw Swirly Bird and Swirly Scribbles I did glance over it, but now that I have the bundle and have a play I am sold, I can see so many possibilities! How adorable is this rose! The rose is cut using the smallest of the swirls, I stamped and fussy cut the Blushing Bride background, added a little shimmer with Wink of Stella. Die cut and stamped the leaves and my rose was done. You can purchase Swirly Bird and Swirly Scribbles from June 1st individually or as a bundle and save 10%. I've used the Layering Squares framelits to create my frame. I love the variety in this new set - there are 10 scalloped and 9 straight edged squares, perfect for layering, or in this case to create a gorgeous scalloped frame for the sentiment. These new framelits are available from June 1st. I used my trusty Hardwood background stamp (one of my favourites) to give more depth to the card and I think it also makes the sentiment from One Big Meaning "pop" too. The pink splatters on the wood were stamped from Swirly Bird - like I said, so many possibilities! As well as this card being my Crazy Crafter Highlight for the week I am also entering in challenge 49 at Stamp Ink Paper - click on the below images to see lots of fabulous creations! Happy sunday friends! Last week I shared with you the diy garden markers that I threw together for my garden. Since then, I found out a way to remake them so I could write on them but not have the weather ruin them. Also happy to share that everything I planted is up! I am so excited to see the garden start to flourish! So here we go......! Above are the original ones, I used the lid of a ball jar and a sharpie permanent maker to write the names on the tag. You will still start with the ball jar lids, but this time punch out a 2" circle and hand write the veggie on the circle. Next step is to use some modge podge on a sponge brush, lightly apply it to the back of the circle and attach it to the ball lid. Now go ahead and add one layer of the modge podge, let it dry a few minutes and add another coat. I also figured out a way to add the jar lids to the popsicle stick by using E6000 glue to make them stick. You don't want to use a hot glue gun on this project as depending where you live once the sun is out you won't want the sun to melt the glue gun adhesive which it will in the direct sunlight. Now they are ready to put them into the ground! Here they are, all done!
May 25, 2016 Here’s a fun card using the new Swirly Bird/Swirly Scirbbles Bundle along with all five new IN COLORS for 2016-2018. I just loved how they all came together on this card! I am sh…
There are so many amazingly talented people in Crazy Craters and I always get a lot of inspiration from them. I thought why not CASEing some of their beautiful projects. Today's card was inspired by these two projects. Studio Evans-Carolina Evans The Crafty Thinker-Stephanie Fischer, my lovely up-line I combined Carolina's inlaid die cut with Stephanie's swirly scribble die at the back of the stamped image. I first made a pattern with Swirly Bird stamp set and die cut with 2 dies all at once. The important thing is that you have to keep all the off cuts no matter how small they are. Then I die cut Island Indigo with the same dies and put them back on the stamped panel. Die cut Island Indigo 2 more times and stacked them. Last layer is the die cut stamped panel. I really like how Island Indigo peeks out. It's much better than using dimensional to give a 3 D look. Although it was time consuming, I think it may be faster than cutting dimentionals into small pieces, putting carefully and peeling off the backing. I realized I didn't attach the last layer on the exactly matching place with the base panel but I'm happy with it. I couldn't resist decorating inside. This is what I made inspired by two amazingly talented ladies. Now July has a great offer from Stampin'Up!---- Bonus Days! click the Bonus Days! tab to see more details. Welcome to the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with special guest Mikaela Titheridge from the UK. I have been a long time follower of Mikaela, love the retreat/workshops, and her projects, well... WOW. Chosing a project to CASE - Copy and Selectively Edit was hard, as there are so many of Mikaela's creations that I love! I decided on the below card, I was drawn to the colours and the technique - Ghosting: I've not tried the Ghosting technique before, I must admit I was intrigued! In a nutshell, this stamping method requires you to first stamp with White Ink, then when it is dried stamp your colour over the white image, but slightly off setting your stamp so that you create a shadow as well as a white line. I decided to use Swirly Bird as it is a photoploymer set and it would be easy to see where to stamp my colour once the White Craft ink was dry, here is what Mikaela's card inspired me to create: I was a little scared when stamping with the craft ink, here is what the card looked like before colour was added - the stamping is a little patchy, I think some re-inking may be in order for my craft pad. I also stamped the small flowers and leaves on a strip of Crumb Cake, and after stamping with colour die cut with the Swirly Scribbles thinlets, then mounted using Dimensionals or mulit purpose glue. I kept with a Purple colour theme, I really like contrast with the Crumb Cake base Be sure you hop all the way around our Crazy Crafters hop and see all the incredible creations, and if you have a chance please leave a comment, we love receiving comments! handmade card using 2016-2018 In colors by Stampin' Up!
Ahoy stampers! This week we are showcasing the amazingly versatile Swirly Bird You can create such a variety of images with this set: flowers leaves birds background splatters kites boats The stamp set can also be paired with the Swirly Scribbles framelits - purchase as a Bundle and save 10% I have made a number of cards using the flowers and leaves, so I've decided to go nautical with my latest creation, here it is I stamped my little boat and fussy cut, using the co-ordinating framelits to create the ocean, and for that WOW factor created a Life Bouy using Calypso Coral Thick Baker's Twine. Then I went a step further and added the shaker element... there was a slight cataosrophy during this process.... I knocked the sequin container, I don't think any more needs to be said! UPDATE: Lots of people have been asking how I created the outer loops, I folded the bakers twine and tied a knot, then measured around and repeated, then I used a glue dot to attach and was able to tuck the twine around the edge of the shaker underneath - here is a photo so you can get a visual: Masculine cards don't come naturally for me, they are always a challenge, this one could be used for a variety of occasions - I'm going to stamp on the inside of the card when I decide on what the occasion is. I am really happy with this colour combination too! So come along and join in the fun with us this week with Swirly Bird - to see all the great projects and inspiration from the Design Team and to participate in this weeks challenge at What Will You Stamp? click here Thanks for visiting today, I hope you enjoyed viewing my project. Good thing I die-cut a bajillion of these on the Big Shot, because I am having so much fun making the trendy little dimensional roses by combining the Swirly Bird stamp set and Swirly Scribbles Thinlets. I love the casual, flip little flowers--so perfect for summer! Started off this craft session trying to copy the card on page 152 of the new 2016-17 Idea Book & Catalog, and you can definitely see similarities, but of course I ended up making adjustments (and boo-boos) along the way. Still, not too bad for a first run! Can't wait to have more time...
I love how happy this week's challenge colors are!! I thought about making a citrus-y card but I had a few things sitting on my desk that I decided to play with and I was so thrilled with how it

Hiya friends and welcome to another week with The Paper Players. Lovely Laurie is our hostess this week with a great sketch challenge: We all love a good sketch, don't we? This one is such a good one that I made two cards using 3 of the new In Colors! I couldn't decide which one to feature but think I like this one a little bit more: Oh my goodness, this new In Color--Sweet Sugarplum--is beautiful! A soft shade of purple that looks fabulous with some of the other beautiful new In Colors--Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach. I die cut a large circle from the Sweet Sugarplum base and backed it with a piece from a new DSP stack called Playful Palette which features all these new In Colors. The sentiment banner--in Emerald Envy--is from a new hostess set called Time of Year. The sweet little flowers are from another new set I featured last week--Swirly Bird. They are tone-on-tone stamped in Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum and I found out the 1/2" circle punch pops out those flowers quite nicely! The main sentiment is also from the hostess set, Time of Year, and heat embossed directly on the DSP with black stampin' powder. A lovely shine to it! So here's my other card! I had great fun with the Swirly Scribbles dies and Swirly Bird stamp set. The Pool Party base is a nice compliment to another new In Color--Dapper Denim. Really like this one too--it's a cousin to our long-lost Not Quite Navy which I also adored. The little sailboat is totally customizable as the two sails, boat and flag are all separate stamps. Many options to play with! I wanted the "waves" to look like they were shining with the sun rays so I added a brush of Wink of Stella under the die cut. I also brushed on a few lines with a Soft Sky marker to add a little shadow under the "waves". I hope you've enjoyed my cards today! Do pop over to The Paper Players and check out the rest of the Design Team and their inspiration. I hope you will play along with us before the challenge closes on Friday, May 27th at Noon (PST)...thanks for stopping by! Hi Crafters! Some exciting news for you today! It's Blog Hop time!! Today we are CASE-ing (Copy & Selectively Edit) the wonderfully talented Valerie Moody, who is also joining us on this hop! I hope you find great inspiration from all the projects in this hop. You may be starting the hop here at my blog (Jessie Holton) or you may have come from the previous person on the list. Be sure to click on the next person in the list to continue your blog hop adventure casing Valerie's work. Here's Valerie's card which I have chosen to case. I really love simplicity of this card with the pop of black! And here is what I've come up with. I've used the Whisper White Notecards & Envelopes to make these cards. They make everything so easy, as they're already cut & scored. I couldn't help myself & added an embossed layer to each card with Whisper White card stock. I've used the Petals, Brick Wall & Softly Falling embossing folders. I think the Brick Wall one is my favourite. Which is yours? I've mixed up the colours for the flowers & leaves from the Swirly Bird Stamp Set & cut them out with the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits. Then I've added a Basic Black Swirl from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits. The sentiment & banner outline (inked in Momento Basic Black ink) from the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set & cut out with the coordinating Classic Label Punch. This set have flowers stamped in Sweet Sugarplum & Pink Pirouette. The leaves are stamped in Mint Macaron & Emerald Envy. For the first card, I used Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue to stick all the leaves & flowers in place but I used Glue Dots for the rest & found that much easier. This set have flowers stamped in Watermelon Wonder & Flirty Flamingo. The leaves are stamped in Mint Macaron & Emerald Envy. The sentiments are propped up on Dimensionals. I have stamped each of the inside of the cards & envelope fronts to match the colours used on the fronts of the cards. I want to share a super sweet and quick card with you today. I used the "Swirly Bird" stamp set for this simple card.. I can't even begin to tell you how many times that I have used this set. It really is one of my most favorite sets ever....
Happy Saturday Peeps!!! Today I am sharing a card I made using the sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches. This is a great sketch by the fabulous Rita Wright, I love it!! I had just got my pre-order earlier in the week from the new Stampin Up catalog. This set Swirly Birds was on my list when I first saw it in the new catalog and I was thrilled to see it available on our pre-order. I also love the new in colors and I used every one of them on this card. The Dapper Denim is just splattered on the white piece but it is there and it was fun to use all of them on this card. I started the card with a base of white and then laid down a piece of DSP down the side from the Go Wild paper stack. I then added a strip of basic black across the bottom. I embossed the sentiment from the Butterfly Basics stamp set using white embossing powder. I then cut another piece of white and splattered it with a bit of the Dapper Denim ink. The flowers are die cut using Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum. I die cut the leaves using Emerald Envy, I hand cut some watercolor paper and washed it with the same ink as the flowers and popped the swirl die cut onto the watercolored piece. I finished it up with a few Basic rhinestones. Another pic of our precious baby Audrey: Thanks for stopping by today! Vicki

Hello friends. Back in the swing of things after holidays and enjoying creating again. I shared Stampin' Up! at a get together of a lovely lady and her friends last night, and shared the lovely Swirly Bird bundle which has been very popular (it's a super versatile bundle). Here's the card we made as the make and take: It was so fun and I always love seeing the sense of accomplishment when the guests realise THEY CAN make things. My colours are Tip Top Taupe, Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride. As I mentioned, this set is super versatile so I...
Hello and welcome to a wet and wintery Thursday here in Melbourne! We had a quick dog walk in the rain this morning - truly the first time I've had to find wet weather gear in months so we do really need it. And the car said 11.5 degrees Celsius - yes, Winter is indeed coming after our warm Autumn! The snow fields that are a few hours north got a good dumping of snow...all good for those who want to go skiing in a few weeks when the Ski fields open. I'll happily stay warm and dry inside though :-) Today's card was for a lovely friend's recent birthday. Her style of card making often involves beautiful layering and as this was also my first play with the new Swirly Bird stamp set I decided to create a layered flower for her. I've also used a couple of the new In colours - Emerald Envy is such a lovely and warm green - and Sweet Sugarplum for the flower centre. It is teamed here in a girly combo with Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouette. I hope she likes it :-) The inside is quite clean and simple so there was room to write :-) And it's hard to see but there is some sparkly Wink of Stella on the coloured card stock floral layers. The background is water coloured using a lot of water and a little Pacific Point ink. I find adding a layer of thick white card stock under the water colour paper helps with reducing the warping effect. It also gives it the additional height without needing to use dimensionals - which is especially good if it needs to go through the post :-) Card stock: Melon Mambo, Sweet Sugarplum, Whisper White - standard and thick, Water Colour Paper Ink: Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Sweet Sugarplum, Black Stazon, Emerald Envy, Pacific Point Stamps: Swirly Bird, Suite Sayings, Birthday Blooms Accessories: Big Shot, Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, Basic Rhinestones, Aqua Painter, Clear Wink of Stella Happy stamping until next time, Jan
As like so many other stampers I've upped my birthday card game thanks to the lovely Shannon West and her #imbringingbirthdaysback campaign. I needed quite a few this month so I'm trying to restock my inventory! I've been lucky to have a consistent amount stamping time lately and I've tried to make the most of it by using some challenges to get my card making focused so I can (hopefully) complete more projects. This card used the Mojo Monday sketch and the Global Design Project challenge and the card came together quickly with those 2 starting points. The Global Design Project challenge is to CASE the Designer so you can pull elements from the designer card to create your own. I was inspired by her colors. Mojo Monday is this fun tilted design. I'm usually a "straight and everything in its place" kind of stamper so it's fun to do these layouts. I've got some retiring, carrying over and new products working to bring this one together. The base is Tip Top Taupe which is a lovely neutral and is in the group of In Colors which is sticking around for another year. Next up is a layer of DSP from the Botanical Gardens DSP which is from the Occasions catalog but is retiring at the end of the month so if you love those bold tropical patterns you better get it before it's gone! This is one of the lighter colored designs in the pack. Then I've got the Softly Falling embossing folder on Whisper White cardstock. Softly Falling was such a huge hit from the Holiday Catalog it's carrying over again. It's a nice subtle pattern for all sorts of card themes. The sentiment is stamped in Mint Macaron and can be found in the Rose Wonder stamp set also carrying over to the new catalog. And finally the new products from the upcoming annual catalog! Swirly Bird stamp set and the coordinating Swirly Scribbles thinlets. The background scribble is cut from Tip Top Taupe cardstock and then layered with a stamped flower in Mint Macaron as are the leaves. The easiest way that I've found to adhere these designs is to use the fine tip glue. It makes getting the adhesive in the right spot a snap! I tried added some different ribbons to the design and nothing worked very well but it still needed just a little something! I decided pearls would do the trick and used one medium sized pearl for the very center and then added the smallest size around it creating a cluster. I'm thinking now that I should have made several of this design while I had the supplies! Thanks for looking! Did you stamp today? Stamps: Swirly Bird, Rose Wonder Ink: Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe Paper: Tip Top Taupe, Whisper White, Botanical Gardens DSP Accessories: Swirly Scribbles thinlets, Softly Falling embossing folder, pearls, dimensionals

The Swirly Bird stamp set and die bundle from he new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog is a must have - so versatile and great to work with!
I was thrilled to be selected to be an On Stage display stamper for Stampin' Up! in April 2016. What a ride it was! It was a pleasure to be working alongside the two other creative kiwi display stampers Delys Cram and Emily Campbell. The two samples that I have for you today showcase the new fun in colour 'Flirty Flamingo'. A gate fold card first up that features a new stamp set 'Swirly Bird'. I have created the coloured background inside the butterfly die cut using the 'Watercolour Wash' stamp with a hint of 'Wink of Stella' in gold. Notice the gorgeous new 1 cm Ruched ribbon. So yummy! Keep popping back as I will continue to showcase my samples over the next few weeks as we welcome in the new annual catalogue which goes live June 1st.

Today I am sharing the swap card I made for the 2016 incentive trip featuring the new Swirly Bird bundle. I was really pleased when I finished designing my card and then I quickly realized this was going to take me a bit of time due to the number of die cut pieces. I decided […]
