Hi Everyone, Hussena here to share with you a tutorial on how to make a flip-card using your dies and Big Shot..It's a really very easy way to make some fast and interactive cards to get the 'WOW' factor from your friends and family..So first let's gather our supplies and you all will need the following to make these cards below. Supplies needed for the tutorial :- Big Shot Machine Spellbinder's Nestabilities Label 4 Martha Stewart Scoring Board Fiskars Sure Cut paper Trimmer Cardstocks Pattern paper of your choice ( I have used the Prima Zephyr Paper Pad.) Distress inks(Totally optional) And now for the tutorial :- I have written the steps in the pictures itself..I hope this makes it easier for you all to understand it. Step 1- Take a piece of cardstock measuring 7 1/2 inches by 4 1/4 inches. Step 2 - Fold it in a zig-zag pattern. Step 3 - Your card should look like this now. Step 4 - Now measure, cut and glue your pattern paper on to the front of your card. Step 5 -Now place your die on the smaller side of the card with it's centre point aligning with the 2 3/4 inch scored line and stick it with either a Washi Tape or any repositionable glue. Step 6 -Now make your cutting sandwich for this you can refer our DT member Mallika's post on how to create a cutting sandwich for your dies...Place your acrylic plate only up to the 2 3/4 inch score line and run it through your Big Shot..This will allow you to only partially die-cut one end of your card which is required for the flipping mechanism. Step 7 -Now that you have cut one end ...Turn your card around and place your acrylic plate on the 3 3/4 inch score line and again partially die-cut it...Please take care to place your acrylic plates to the the required scored line...otherwise you will end up cutting up the entire piece. Step 8 -After you have die-cut both the ends, your card will look like this below....Now, peel off the pattern paper from the die-cut ends...Don't worry if you mess up a bit..This will later on get covered up. Step 9 -Now using the same label die, die-cut two pieces of cardstock....One plain and other colored....The plain one will be attached to the back side where as the colored one will be in the front of your card. Step 10 -Attach the white cardstock on the front side and when you flip your card this will go on the back. Step 11- Attach the colored cardstock on the back side as shown. Step 12 -Once both the die-cuts are attached, this is how your card will look. Step 13 -As you can see, when the card is opened, the white die-cut piece comes in the front where you can write your message. Step 14 -Once the card is closed, this is how it will look. Step 15 -Here are my sample cards before I have embellished them. Supplies used for embellishing :- Lawn Fawn Blissful Botanicals and Flutter By. Prima Zephyr paper Pad , Best of K & Company Papers. Distress ink : Tumbled Glass., Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Martha Stewart Doily Lace Punch Marianne Embossing Folder- Daisies. Look what one of my downline, Kari, made at her class last weekend!!! She does amazing work. Isn't it just adorable?! She says she found this idea on Pinterest. He's just perfect. Hello and Happy Halloween to all. I have some super cute cards to share with you, these are some cards that me and my BFF made this weekend. I think you know my friend is a Stampin Up demonstrator and boy did we have a great time getting ideas from pinterest and youtube, and seeing how well we either adapted the technique or how well we executed the cards. The following cards are the fruits of our labor. Hope you enjoy. I will give a list of supplies used at the end of the picture set. All supplies for the following cards are from Stampin Up. With all of these guys I cut a piece of paper 5 7/8 x 8 1/2 with that I have enough extra for the eyelids and the nose. Monster Mash For her eyelashes I used a circle punch and kept punching slivers off. I used a Crumb Cake marker and a ruler and drew uneven lines all over the paper, I then took 2 (3/4 in) strips and inked the edge and glued them down. The trick to this mummy is that you have to put the Thinlit Frame on the blank side with the side with lines down, if not it won't fold the way you need it to. I hope this clarifies any questions on this guy he is a real cutie. Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder,,Basic Black, Smokey Slate, Lucky Limeade, Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie,Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla card stock. Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Smokey Slate, Lucky Limeade, and Cherry Cobbler Ink. & markers. Black Embossing Powder & VersaMark. Thinlits Circke Card, Various size Circles & Ovals, Label Bracket Punch. Stamp Sets Googly Ghouls, Tags 4 You, and Monster Munchies. This was so much fun and I think that the possibilities are endless, one of my new favorites. Thanks as always for stopping by and go crazy with your crafting. Follow Me on Pinterest.
We made this card at my good friend Marguerite's workshop on Saturday. She asked that we make a wedding card so this is what I came up with. I like the way there is just a bit of color (Melon Mambo) peeking behind the white. What an easy way to add the bride's wedding color to your card! I've done a different version in the past that was a bit more complicated. I like to keep my workshop cards easy...

Hello there, a few weeks ago I had a few of my lovely blog readers mention that they struggled to emboss with dies (as appose to cutting with them). So today I thought I would do a quick tutorial for you. I only have the Cuttlebug to show you on but the concept is the same with the other machines. What you need is a tan mat (doesn't actually have to be tan in colour but most are, the one from Sizzix is grey though). This is a sheet of rubber that causes the metal in the die that would usually cut, to bounce off and emboss only. You can get the tan mats from a variety of places, most manufacturers of dies sell them. Here is how you do it ... The sandwich for the Cuttlebug is: A Plate, B Plate, Tan Mat, shims (if using them), cardstock, dies face down, B Plate. I hope that may have helped some of you. Thanks so much for visiting me today. Hope you have a lovely day!

As promised, here is the tutorial for making the rosebud using the Two Step Bird Punch from the latest mini catalogue: Step 1 - Cut a strip of green cardstock (old Olive used here) about 3 cm (1 1/4") wide, this will save your cardstock and make rotating the 'hole' possible. Step 2 - Insert the strip of cardstock from the right hand side of the punch and punch as shown above - you need the hole the end of the tail leaves. Step 3 - Turn the cardstock over and insert fron the left hand side of the punch with the 'tail hole' in the window for the wing as shown above. Step 4 - Punch a wing only from red cardstock (Real Red used here) and adhere the green wing with the hole in it over the red wing to form the calex of the rose. Step 5 - Punch a leaf from the green strip and adhere just the top leaf over the rose as shown above - et voila, you have a rosebud. To see the rosebud used on a card go to this post. I hope you enjoy making your rosebuds and as always, comments motivate me to write tutorials :-) Have a great day Lynette
