Hello and welcome to day 2 of The Greetery Garden Party Collection! I just can't get over how fabulous this new release is! As always, you can head to The Greetery Blog for the official 'Meet and Greet' for all of the new products being showcased today! Leave a comment here, and on each of the designers' blogs, for a chance to win one of two $50 gift certificates to the shop! My first card for today features some of the cutest new products from the release! I'm in love with the new Trendy Tumbler Die and the new Sippin' Summer stamp set and die! As you can see, I've created yet another background using the A2 Stitched Scallops Die paired with the coordinating Scalloped Gingham Stencils! This card also features the new Squeeze the Day Stamp Set and Die...so many fun new products to make some fabulous and refreshing summertime!! I stamped the 'hoping your day' portion of the sentiment directly onto the stenciled background, but then used the coordinating dies for the 'lemonade’ portion and placed it over the top of the tumbler using foam squares. I used two of my leftover bouquets from the project yesterday to add in two of the corners for added detail. I can't wait to use this tumbler for all kinds of projects! My second card for today features the new Large Lemon Stencil (there is a die, but I chose not to use it). I used traditional lemon colors, but can't wait to try making a lime! I absolutely love how easy this multi-step stencil collection is to use and the results are just stunning! It probably comes as much as a shock to you as it does to me that I didn't use the coordinating die cuts to give this lemon additional dimension. I just can't explain it....this beautiful CAS lemon stole my heart! Don't fret, because this beautiful stencil collection is still calling my name and it WILL be die cut! ha ha! I topped it off with an additional punn-y sentiment and some shimmer spray! The lemon panel is an A2 size, but I wanted to give it a larger presence, so I added it to a Lemon Tart card base using foam squares. Next up is the beautiful new BotaniCuts Wisteria! I'm always a big fan of the BotaniCuts series and this one is so lovely and easy to use! I paired it with the new Filigree Frame Background die that was showcased yesterday....I remembered the name! ha ha! The sentiment is from the new Bloom and Grow Sentiments set. The die is included in the die set that I'm sharing on my next project! I'm particularly fond of wisteria because a sweet lady in the neighborhood has a beautiful fence just FILLED with vines; she will be getting this card! My last project for today features the Garden Gateway die paired with the new Impressionist Garden Stamp Set and Die. I can't wait to use this Garden Gateway all year long and tailor it to the different seasons! As I mentioned earlier, the die for the sentiment is included in this Garden Gateway die collection. I just want to pull the gate open and head on into this impressionist garden! There is also a few other dies being showcased today that some of the other designers are featuring, so make sure to head to their blogs! I will definitely be using those soon as well! Thanks for fluttering by! Angelica Dana Dawn Kelly (you are here) Laura Laurie Wanda
Hello and welcome, friends! I'm happy to "bee" here today with a pair of bright and sunny cards just fitting for the summer season! I have a bee-themed thank you gift I need a thank you card for and I just found out my son’s new 5th grade teacher’s favorite flower is the sunflower, so you can see where this is headed! Ha ha! I used quite a potpourri of products and I will explain each step of the way, so let’s get started! ****update****The Greetery is having a summer sale! You can find it HERE!! To begin, I got to work on the bees; I oftentimes like just sitting down to create groupings of different elements and then I just have fun mixing things up as I create! I used the Honey Bees Die for each of the three sizes of bees. I added two layers of wings on the larger bee: one out of white cardstock and one from vellum. I die cut everything else from white cardstock and then used finger daubers and assorted distress oxide inks to color the bees. I used liquid glue to put them all together. The largest bee has some Nuvo Crystal Glaze over the black body portion. I set the bees aside and got to work on the background. For the two backgrounds, I used the Seed Catalog Background Stamp on an A2 panel of Lemon Tart cardstock. I have found that I like laying the cling rubber background stamps face up in my MISTI and then lay the cardstock over the top and secure it to the lid using washi tape. I simply add the paper over the stamp exactly where I want it, add a rolled piece of washi tape and then swing the lid down to catch the panel. I have also started to use a mini brayer to smooth out the ink on the background stamps for even coverage. I also added the honeycomb pattern to the corners of each of the background panels using the Buzz-Worthy Sentiments stamp set. I die cut two of the third-to-largest arches included in the A2 Arches Die die from white cardstock. I added some tumbled glass distress oxide ink to the center of each arch. For the “Bee Kind” card, I stamped the “always” portion of the sentiment at the top of the arch and then added the greenery which is die cut using the Garden Tub Filler Die. I colored it with finger daubers and inks like I always do! Ha ha! I adhered it to the arch using foam squares. I also added some flowers from the BotaniCuts Wildflower Mix die….they are the perfect size to accent the greenery. I used the Buzzy Bits to add the honeycomb centers to the flowers. That big bee is added to the greenery using additional foam squares as well as the “Bee Kind” sentiment. I added the entire thing to the background (which I ended up trimming down ¼ inch and added it to an A2 white card base. My sunflower card uses the same arch as I mentioned earlier. I used the Magnolia Wreath Die as an unexpected backdrop for the sunflowers. I stamped the “sweet as” portion at the top of the arch, just like I did on the first card. I used the BotaniCuts Sunflower Die die for the flowers; I added some colored pencil detail on the petals for added realism. I realized I have either lost or misplaced the center dies for the smaller sunflowers so I had an unexpected “make it work” moment! Ugh! I’m hoping the recipient won’t even notice! Ha ha! I assembled this card the same way as the first card. I haven’t been in a glittery mood lately (who am I?) but I did want some shine so I added some Shimmer Spray to the top of both cards! I’m so happy with how they both turned out and I can’t wait to give them to their recipients! Thanks for fluttering by!

Hello everyone! I'm here today sharing a pair of easy watercolor cards using some of my favorite new products from The Greetery! Creating summer cards is my favorite; the colors, the textures…maybe because summer seems so fleeting no matter how hard I try to hold on! There is one thing that isn’t my favorite….and that is the heat that comes with summer! Ha ha! I decided to create these cards using blue/blue-green tones for something cool and refreshing! To begin, I simply created a wash of watercolor onto three panels of watercolor paper. I know Betsy has mentioned this before, but the cheap watercolor pad they sell at Hobby Lobby (Master’s Touch brand) is the best for this type of project; it is inexpensive and the texture can’t be beat. It is not ideal for serious water coloring, so I just keep it with my paper crafting supplies so I can grab it easily for these types of projects. I chose to create one panel with green hues, one with blue green hues, and one with lighter blue hues. In hindsight, I should have kept the panels a little more “loose” with more open spaces of white. It is hard to add white space back in once it’s gone! Ha ha! Once the panels were dry (I sped up the process by using my heat tool) I die cut the big Monstera Leaves; one from the green panel with the veins from the blue-green panel, and one from the blue-green panel with veins from the lighter blue panel. The Palm leaves were die cut both from the same blue-green panel; I had originally planned on layering them, but in the end, I used them separately. The hibiscus leaves were selectively die cut from the green panel and then I ran ALL of the BotaniCuts Hibiscus dies (I have them all connected) through the light blue panel. I had so much fun assembling the flowers and leaves. I added some additional detail to the die cut detail lines on the hibiscus flowers using the same paint and a small detail watercolor brush. I also added some black ink splatter to ALL of the die cut pieces for contrast. I stenciled two panels of the same textured watercolor paper using the new Wicker Weave Stencil collection using Tea Dye, Brushed Corduroy, and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide inks. I used a light hand and selective stenciling for a loose look. Once that was done, I added the flowers and leaves using foam squares and liquid glue. I had originally planned to use all of these details on one card, but I just couldn’t get the composition right, so I omitted the two Monstera leaves and created a second simple card to share with you today. For the sentiments, I used the older, but well-loved Birthday Blooms Stamp Set. I stamped the large, focal sentiment in black ink and then die cut them using the Birthday Blooms Die. I heat embossed the accent portion of the sentiment in white onto black strips of cardstock. I layered them using foam squares and then mounted the panels onto A2 card bases using liquid glue. I gave both cards a spritz of Shimmer Spray for sparkle and shine! As I mentioned earlier, I had envisioned this project a little bit differently, but it’s ok to switch things up if it’s just not working! Sometimes I find myself holding onto an “idea” too tightly rather than letting my creativity flow! It’s always more fun just to let yourself experiment and enjoy the process rather than the outcome. I actually usually end up loving the result way better if I just allow myself time and space to enjoy the creative journey…I hope you do, too! It’s also okay just to step back and take a break and come back to your project with “fresh eyes”! Sometimes that’s when the lightbulb moments will happen, which I just love! Well, enough rambling from me….thanks for fluttering by!
I'm so excited to be here today for day 1 of full reveals for the Handiwork Collection from The Greetery! It is SUCH fun collection and I hope you love it as much as I do. You can find the official "meet and greet" over on The Greetery Blog to introduce you to all of the fabulous new products! Make sure to leave a comment here and on the other designers' blogs for a chance to win one of two $50 gift certificates! My first card for today features the AMAZING new Hoopla Oval Dies, the Aida Cloth Texture Plate, the new Embroidered Blooms dies, and last, but not least, the new Stitched Sentiments. I'm also sneaking a peek at the new Embroidered Background stamp that will be featured tomorrow, but I just couldn't resist! To begin this card, I die cut the beautiful Emroidered Blooms quite a few times (you will see JUST how many over the next two days...ha ha!) and then colored them using Distress Oxide inks. I absolutely adore using multi-colored thread when I stitch, so I love how these leaves and blooms turned out! Once the flowers were done, I got to work on the hoop. There are two size of hoops included in the new Hoopla Oval dies; I chose to use the largest of the two for this card. I also die cut the Aida Cloth background onto a panel of Fine Linen cardstock and then cut it using the Hoopla Oval Inserts die. This is a fun companion set to be used with the Hoopla Oval dies, but could also be used on their own. I colored the hoop using Distress Oxide Inks and then I die cut the 'hardware' included in the Hoopla Oval die set using metallic cardstock for the silver pieces. I had fun arranging the flowers to make it look like a real stitched piece (and made me want to pull out a stitching project, if I'm being perfectly honest) . The sentiment was created by die cutting the Thanks portion using the new Stitched Sentiments die and then stamping it in black (I die cut it using the same cardstock as the Aida cloth portion for a seamless look) The 'sew much" was stamped onto the same cardstock and added to the bottom. There is an option for it to just say 'so much' for versatility. I just couldn't resist the punn-y sentiment! They're my favorite! I stamped the Embroidered Background using Distress Oxide ink onto an A2 card base and then added the hoop using foam squares. My second card also uses the Embroidered Blooms dies and the Aida Cloth Background die. This card was 100 % inspired by a new dress I bought for a Fiesta party I put on for the older kids at church! It is such a fun dress and I knew I could recreate it nicely with these beautiful dies. This card is a mini-slimline size and is just perfect to showcase all of these fun pieces included in the die set. I layered the largest of the blooms together with the smaller flower for a bold focal image. The cute 'lazy daisy' stitched pieces are so fun, too! The little french knot accents just slay me! I love making french knots on my stitched projects and these ones look so real! The sentiment is heat embossed in white and is from the New Day Sentiments Stamp set. I didn't use the 'Press n' Seal' technique for my cards, but it would definitely be helpful with these new dies. Since I was using my dress as I guide, I roughly laid it out and then got the main placement idea and then I just had fun. If you're wanting to be more precise, then I would definitely suggest the Press n' seal technique. It will also allow you to get all of your glue on precisely and not have any smears if you are careful. (wink) My final project for today uses THE cutest new Hoopla Mini dies, the FABULOUS new Stitched Scallops Notecard die AND the new Floral Sampler Stamp set. I created a set of 4 of these sweet little scalloped note cards just perfect for gift-giving or for your own stash. If you stopped by for the last release, these notecards fit perfectly into the burlap sacks I showed with my greenhouse card set. I didn't want to be a broken record so I didn't showcase them that way, but it would be perfect! I also toyed around with sewing up a cute little bag to put them in, so I'll share that if I end up doing that. I had so much fun stamping a BUNCH of the images from the Floral Sampler stamp/die set . I also prepared four of the different Hoopla Mini hoops to use as accents as well. The Stitched Sentiments also got to shine again on these cute notecards. You can see the entire set here. The Hoopla Mini dies come with lots of different shapes for verstatility. This little heart hoop is just the cutest thing, don't you think? I can't wait to use these cute scalloped note cards again...they are just so adorable! Thanks for fluttering by!
