The sketch challenge that kicks off today at CAS(E) This Sketch gave me the chance to combine a sentiment from one new bundle with a gorgeous die in another new bundle. Here's my card for this week's challenge: And here's the banner for the challenge that inspired my card: Tips,
Salutations to you all! I am sorry I have not been posting....I have still been tired from our trip. It took a lot out of me, lol. I also have several project assignments coming up and have been creating in my craft room. I wanted to share my excitement over my guest gig over at Vintage Street Market. I adore their sweet nostagic products and kits! I had soooo much fun using several of their kits including Dimestore Vogue, Party Games, and family fun. Here are the creations I made....I seriously could have made more but ran out of time. I had a ball! LOVE the paper dolls and the little wardrobes that come with them. Took me straight back to when I was a little girl....that is when my paper adoration started. Sighhhhhhhhhh...just so sweet! Anyways...if you want to read up on my blog post over there go here. While you are there check out all the other designers...such gorgeous creations. You will dig the inspiration! Hope you enjoy! night night, cherry

When I lose my creative mojo for cards, I usually pull out miscellaneous supplies that I haven't used for a while and make embellishments. It's fun because I can just let the process flow naturally...no specific colors I have to use, no rhyme or reason needed...just create for the sake of creating. Last month, I got out a package of Maya Road chipboard pieces - some of them were dress forms. I played around and decorated a few of the dress forms with papers, washi tapes, laces, gems, flowers, etc., and since I didn't have an immediate use for them, put them into my stash of "ready to go" embellishments. So when I was ready to make up today's card, I pulled one of those "ready to go" dress forms out of the stash, added a couple goose feathers to the back for extra fun, and designed a card around it. I put together another shabby-looking digital paper for the main background, and paired it with a scrap of one of my favorite "older" Melissa Frances papers...added a strip of crocheted lace, mulberry flowers, and a piece of doily...well, you get the idea...here's how it turned out... I decided to follow the line along the center of the dress form, where the bow and pearls already sat, and put a small cluster of pink and lilac mini roses, accented with a few white stamens and tiny leaves to the left side... and along the right side, a pretty pink lace trim with rolled roses and a pearl accent... On the inside, I "shabbied up" the edges of the blank cream cardstock with ink and a distressing tool... XXX
I’m sorry that I’ve been MIA. We’re in the middle of moving and I have been busy packing up everything. The studio took me the longest time. Who would have thought, lol. So this is just a quick post to show you a few gifts I made before all the hustle and bustle had started. The images I’ve used for the inside of the tin and for the fabric collage had been provided by THE GRAPHICS FAIRY. Thank you, Karen! I’ll be off for the next couple of weeks. I guess I’ll see you in May again. Until then have a wonderful and creative time! HUGS, Julia

Hellllllllllllllo! We are back from our little trip. Travels were made to Boise (archives and Cracker Barrel, Yum!), Wallowa Lake and the tram, and my fave Leavenworth Washington. It is a quaint Bavarian village...complete with some beautiful mountains NOT unlike the alps. We stayed in the sweetest lodge....the flowers were beautiful in front of all the buildings....overflowing. We took in the shops and ate Bavarian cream puffs and bratwurst. Soo happy to be home now though.....I dug into my new goodies from Archives and created away. Here are a few of my creations. Can't wait to create more. Getting away made me miss my card making. I will be popping in here over the next week and a half...and than my son and I will make our annual pilcrimage to main street to see Mickey Mouse! Look forward to sharing more with you....I will be guesting for one of my fave companies in September so stay tuned. hugs, cherry
Today I would like to share with you four cards I made using Graphic 45 Botanical Tea paper collection. I love this collection--it's just beautiful. Lots of floral images and pretty springtime colors. There are 24 different papers to choose from (12 front and back double-sided) so the possibilities are endless. It comes with 12 images that work very well on cards for the focal point, and I have chosen to use them in the cards I am showing you today. The first card I made was this one featuring the large rose image. I used a doily to accentuate the rose. I stamped two butterflies on vellum to flutter around the pretty rose! The stamp and die is from Hero Arts I considered several stamps for my vellum stamping effect. At this point I knew I wanted to use the vellum, but hadn't decided exactly what I would do. Here I considered using the dogwood image, and had stamps out ready to go! There are 24 different papers to choose from (12 front and back double-sided) so the possibilities are endless. It comes with 12 images that work very well on cards for the focal point. Oops almost forgot these nice papers! I liked the way the dragonfly stamp looked on the vellum, especially using silver ink. I played around with the butterfly vellum as an overlay before I finally decided to cut out the butterflies. Wow, loving the way this looks. I'll figure out a way to use this for sure! Love the way the colors are seen through the vellum...very romantic! I finally decided that I would cover the rose paper with a vellum sheet, and highlight the rose. Layering the pattern papers, I selected the striped paper for behind the rose. I think it looks regal! I fussy-cut out the rose image and centered it on the card. Victorian Velvet distress ink was used on the edges of all the paper layers. Stunning! Came back to the dogwood image...I think I'll save this idea for another day... I do this a lot when I design, putting papers on top of one another... Its a way for me to imagine what the card will look like. I saw this image and thought to myself, SEED PACKET! Here is the finished seed packet card. I just love it! I got out my seed packet stamp from the Garden Variety II set from Papertrey Ink. There are several coordinating dies for this set, and the set is quite versatile! Using the patterned paper, I cut out the words for the sentiment. I stamped the seed packet with the word CARNATIONS. It looks pretty but something didn't seem right...but what? Can you guess? Yep! I forgot to stamp the seed packet. I had to re-stamp it. Just messing around here. Wanted to see what a rose would look like in this seed packet! I think it looks good! But not this card...maybe next time? The re-stamped finished seed packet card is at the end of this post. This card was quick and easy. It just looks difficult but I promise it isn't. I simply put patterned paper on the card face, and layered the floral image with a mat, then popped up the image with dimensional tape. I cut a doily in half and tucked it underneath the paper. Added a few droplets and a ribbon and it's finished! Oh I have an extra butterfly! It might look nice on this card! What do you think? This card was the highlight of the group! I wanted to keep with using the vellum theme, so I stamped the fern in green ink on the velum and placed it over the patterned paper. It softened it a bit. I used my Martha Stewart punch for the bottom lace effect, and also used real fabric lace on this card. The bird was fussy-cut out of the paper collection. Once again I cut the sentiment from the patterned paper. I also used a few roses from Wild Orchid Crafts. The branch is a die cut from Memory Box, and worked perfectly for this card! The Botanical Tea paper collection has endless possibilities for you so let your creative juices flow and give it a try! If you would like to make the cards in this post, please leave me a comment with a way to contact you. OR call Ink Paper Rubber in Overland Park KS, so if you are local to the Kansas City area, please call them at 913-3981-2217 to enroll. Today I'm sharing a layout I made inspired by the Maja Design May Mood Board. I chose the soft greens in the Mood Board (shown below) and let the words like 'checkered table cloth', 'green', 'scent of grass', 'fabric', 'white' and 'flowers' be my inspirational words. The title of this layout comes from one of my favourite childrens books that I used to read to my girls called "I'll Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch, a well known Canadian author. It's one of those sweet books that is a challenge to read without getting teary eyed. I used a variety of papers from the "Life in the Country Collection to make my little heart designs. I really like the little 6x6 paper pad for making little designs like these if I don't have little scraps from my 12x12 papers to work with. Funny how sometimes some designs just create themselves: I had machine stitched each of the heart designs, planning to cut off the excess threads but when I placed them down on the page to see what order I'd put them in I realized I liked the look of the threads hanging there like that, looking like soft little streamers hanging from the blooms! I chose to go with a monochromatic color scheme for this page, so all the embellishments and blooms I picked were in the fresh white or soft green color spectrum. I wanted to keep the page soft and delicate so I picked some very intricate pieces of chipboard to pair up with the embellishments from from Dusty Attic. I finished the design with tiny cut butterflies from the "Vintage Spring Basic's" collection. Supplies: Patterned Paper: Life In the Country (Summer Fields-bs, Sowing Seeds-bs, Kitchen Garden, Kitchen Garden-bs, In the Hammock, In the Hammock-bs), Vintage Spring Basics (6th of May, 7th of April-bs). Rub-on's: Basic Grey Flourishes. Chipboard: Dusty Attic Designs (Vine Border, Ornate Arched WIndows, Cameo Ribbon Slides and Decorative Frame #1). Flowers: Dusty Attic (Dusty In Bloom, Grassy Knoll, Dusty Leaves), White blooms (Michael's bargain bin). Cameo: Websters Pages. Other: Burlap, twine, lace. Alpha's: Websters Pages Storytellers. There is so much inspiration to be had from the Mood Board! I loved the fresh and pretty summery colors, berry reds, grass greens and bright whites. I used these colors and the sweet poem and inspirational words to create the card below... Again, I used a variety of papers from the "Life in the Country" collection and layered them on for this card. I wanted to incorporate a berry design on the page and even went to the trouble of looking for berry elements or stickers at my local craft store....but couldn't find a thing! So when I got home I started digging through a jar of odds and ends that I have and found these two glass drops! Perfect to make cherries! I hope you give this fun May Mood Board a try! For full details on the Mood Board Challenge you can find it here at the Maja Blog! And don't forget to check out all the other designs our talented design team girls came up with for this board! xo

My dear friend MARIE of Lost Bird Studio and I had decided to swap one of those larger matchboxes. It wasn’t hard to agree on a theme for altering the box because like many of you we both love everything French. That’s MARIE’S beautifully wrapped matchbox. Isn’t the stamped button just fabulous? She also sent me a sweet little fabric hanger that held some extra treasures. Take a peek inside That’s the front and the back of the lovely matchbox. Well, I actually can’t decide which is the front and which is the back. Lots of wonderful goodies: Pearls, fabric tape measure, laces and buttons Look, how creative MARIE used that pretty bottle top! She had winded some lace around the cork. I love it! Thank you, dear MARIE! I love the box and everything else you have spoiled me with! These are great treasures to create a French collage or an assemblage with. Maybe it won’t take me too long to come up with something because your gifts are so inspiring :-). ♥ – ♥ – ♥ -♥ – ♥ – ♥ - ♥ – ♥ – ♥ - ♥ – ♥ – ♥ This is my box for Marie. I made it in a vintage worn look, imagining that it once belonged to a girl who had collected some treasures in it that reminded her of Paris. She always dreamed to come back one day … The treasures that didn’t fit into the matchbox she kept in this envelope Some French Ephemera that also reminds her of the wonderful time she had spent in Paris Since Saturday everything belongs to MARIE and now she can dream of Paris :-). ♥ – ♥ – ♥ -♥ – ♥ – ♥ - ♥ – ♥ – ♥ - ♥ – ♥ – ♥ I still owe you some pictures of my as well French themed swap package for my sweet Cajun JODIE at “everything vintage”. JODIE loves velvet and so I had sewed this bag for her with inside pockets These are some of the other things I had sent her: Lace motifs, cabinet cards, vintage postcards of Paris, some old metal pieces, buttons and I happily granted her request for a larger amount of charlotte doll heads. I made this fabric tag and a lace heart. Some trims, more buttons, old tickets, vintage confirmation cards, a rusty key hole plate, an old spool, tiny handmade purses and a vintage travel guide for Paris It had been such a fun swap and I’m looking forward to seeing JODIE using some of the things in her beautiful creations. For me it’s time now to hop into my bed and have some sweet dreams :-). Have a lovely week, dear friends! Hugs to you, Julia
