So happy hoppin'! :o) We got to play with the Photo Play O' Canada products and omgeeeeee! They are so adorable!! Cute EH? hehehehe Up first is a card I made using the Stamp, die, Ephemera Pack with the Canadian Critters & Strong & Free papers. I started with a piece of woodgrain DP from my stash and added circles I punched out from the Canadian Critters paper using different sized circle punches. I added some ephermera from the Ephemera Pack and created my little "Eh" banner. I added a Maple leaf I die cut using the Maple Leaf die and finished with some red twine. I stamped the uber cute Beaver from the Stamp set onto Strathmore watercolor paper with Scattered Straw Distress Ink using my TH Platform. I then used Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo & Walnut Stain Distress Inks to watercolor the image with a Waterbrush. I then die cut him out using the corresponding die. I used the stamp again and stamped onto the Strong & Free paper and fussy cut the vest out and adhered to my colored image. I finished him with some White Nuvo Drops. And there we have the first card- ready for Canada Day! :) Up next is the CAS Tag I made using the Maple Syrup & Strong & Free papers with some of the Ephemera pieces. I die cut a tag using STAMPlorations Stitched Tag die from the Maple Syrup paper and then added a piece of the Strong & Free paper but using the red/white maple leafs side this time. The little patriotic Moose and Happy Canada Day Banner finished off my tag with a little button and twine from my stash. Welcome to the CANADA DAY Blog Hop hosted by Tara & Jacqueline! If you are here from Kimberly's blog then you are in the right spot. If you would like to start at the beginning please click here In honor of Canada Day we are all making a project with a Canadian theme! HERE IS MINE: I decided to make a mini Canada Day album, and I am so happy with how it turned out!! The maple leafs are all cut from Create a Critter - my favorite cartridge, and so is the Beaver - isn't he cute?? All the words are cut with Robotz - my go to chunky font. The tags are all from Sweet Treats. Almost all the paper is from my scrap boxes. I am trying to use up what I have :) Most of the card stock is from Stampin Up or Close to My Heart. I have no idea who made the patterned paper, sorry - one of the problems with delving into my scrapbox. I used ribbon from Michaels, and my white and black gel pens to do the doodling. Supe cute eh?? Hello, eh??!! The SNS Seven is celebrating the upcoming Canada Day event!! This year we're celebrating 151 years since confederation. And it falls on a Sunday which means LONG WEEKEND!! Woo hoo! You should have arrived from the fabulous Kia's blog! But don't worry if you've gotten lost, the entire line up will be listed below :) Photoplay came out with the cutest stamps, dies, stickers, ephemera and patterned papers. It's called the O Canada collection and it's awesome! I had such a great time making cards with this stuff! I made two cards for you today. One was fairly "involved", the other came together in less than 5 minutes which is record time for me!! Let's start with the more complicated one... I coloured both of the iconic, Canadian images, the beaver and the moose with Copic markers and used the co-ordinating dies to cut them out. The background was created using scalloped edge dies from My Favourite Things and a cloud edge die from Lawn Fawn. I used regular Distress Inks to colour all the background dies. Including, Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Pumice Stone, Crushed Olive and Tumbled glass. I left the background colours quite muted as I wanted the stars of the card to be the beaver and moose. The simple "eh!" sentiment is enough and works perfectly! This card could be sent to anyone, Canadian or not, and it would surely put a smile on their face!! Now, I have a confession. I have never had or used ephemera..ever!! So let me tell you that I was shocked when I opened that little package! I couldn't believe all the cool stuff in there!! For my "5 Minute Card", I used only ephemera and truth be told...I almost like it better!! I used a frame, a sentiment banner and of course, that moose again and popped everything up with foam squares onto a white card base and voila!! A super cute card!! Thank you for joining us today as we show you these super cute products from Photoplay celebrating Canada!!! Your next stop on the hop is the super talented Nancy!! You can find the entire blog hop line up down below!! Now, let's talk about prizes!! There will be one $50.00 gift certificate up for grabs as well as a chance to win one of seven (7) ephemera packs. All you have to do is leave a little love on each blog stop!! Also, use the code HOP10 to receive $10 off any order of $50 or more!!! Comments will be open for prize selection until June 28 and winners announced the following Friday on the Scrap N' Stamp blog. Good luck, happy shopping and thanks for the love!! Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians! Although things are definitely different in the world these days and we won't be able to celebrate in our usual way, we can still acknowledge how proud we are of our wonderful country and how thankful we are to live here. I've been doing that by decorating my home with lots of patriotic decor. Today, I'm sharing how I've styled the sideboard in our kitchen for Canada Day. This portion of the sideboard got more of a Canadian Cottage look by using some little metal houses I got last year at Michael's against a backdrop of flowers and flags. Everything was placed on a red and white patterned runner and red/white gingham napkins add a homey vibe. I've set this area up as one might for some type of buffet served meal with plates and flatware placed inside various containers. I found this mug last year at a local grocery store and thought it quite appropriate. LOL The shelf above the sideboard was also given a few red touches. I always leave a bit of space between the decor on the sideboard to allow for mixing drinks as well as to break up the decor into vignettes. This Home Sweet Home sign was attached to the round metal wall art above the sideboard and a few flags were added. This is exactly how I feel about living in Canada. This end of the sideboard got more of a Canadiana vibe with some iconic Canadian symbolism represented here. I love this moose I found a couple years ago at Walmart - so perfect for my theme. A couple of little faux evergreens create a forest-like backdrop. I've had these canoe-shaped pickle dishes for a long time and just love using them for Canada Day decor. I added the flag vinyl cling-on to the top canoe. The oar was a recent find at a gift shop out of town. Dollar store flags were set inside a milk glass vase. This red lantern gives a vintage/cottage/camping type feel to the display. Red gingham ribbon was tied around faux candles with flag picks tucked inside. I created this sign on my computer and put it in a black frame. This area of my home is all ready to celebrate our national holiday and I enjoy seeing its festive look whenever I enter the kitchen. Do you do much patriotic decorating? It's really not that difficult to do. Try taking a look around your home for things that suit your colour scheme and then get some flags from the Dollar Store and you'll be all set! Thanks for visiting! Good Morning! I am so excited to share today's project with you- the Tasty Truck Treat Holder Instructions! Since the 2017 Sale-A-Bration Catalogue went live a few weeks ago I have had several requests for the instructions for the Tasty Truck Treat Holder (or Treat Box) shown in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue on page 12. After searching it out a few times online, I could not find anyone who had already put together instructions, so I got to work and came up with my own Tasty Truck Treat Holder Instructions to share with you! If you are on Pinterest, make sure you PIN this one for later! Just hover ove the image below to get the Pinterest Save button! The Tasty Truck Stamp Set is one of the Sale-A-Bration freebies you can choose for FREE! with every $60 you spend in my Stampin Up store. Only until March 31st, 2017! How To Make the Tasty Truck Treat Holder: For the outside of the truck: 1. Start by stamping the Tasty Truck onto Whisper White Thick cardstock two times; allow to dry then watercolor with Aqua Painters and ink. I used Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach; I used a Basic Gray Stampin’ Write Marker to color the wheels; even though you won’t see much of one of the trucks, you will want to color it as you will see it a bit around the edges 2. Once that was dry, Clear Wink of Stella was added to the window frames, lights and accents 3. Cut out both trucks using Paper Snips. 4. Note: one of the trucks will have the stamped image facing inside the truck, you may choose to color behind the stamped image- alternatively if you wish to have a truck image facing out on both sides you could stamp the truck image on a Window Sheet and cut it out in the shape of the truck adhering it to the outside with clear glue. I chose not to do that. 5. If you want a see through window on your truck, you will need to use an Exacto Knife to cut out the windows. For the sake of being able to adhere the tabs on the inside box, I chose not to cut out the front driver window; if you choose to, you will need to trim the tabs further so they do not show through the window (see below- the truck on the left has the front window cut and you can see how little space there was for the side to be adhered) Note, you shouldn't write your measurements on the cardstock like I did there. lol! Also, make sure you use mat or piece of cardboard on your surface when using the Exacto Knife! 6. Cut a piece of Window sheet about 2.75”x1.5” and adhere to the back to the cut out truck using Tear & Tape Adhesive; then trim the edge of the window sheet along the front of the truck using Paper Snips For the Inside of the Truck: 1. Cut a strip of Whisper White Thick cardstock 5.5”x4” for a large box - this will give you a box that is 2” along the ‘front’ of the truck and 2.5” along the truck side; this allows for a loosely filled 3”x6” Cellophane Bag; if you would prefer it to be smaller to fit a 2”x8” cellophane bag without having too much extra space follow the instructions for the small box (I used a 2”x8” bag here but I cut the top of the bag a bit-as you can tell there is still room) 2. Using the Scoring Tool, score the box as shown below for the Large or Small Tasty Truck Treat Holder Instructions: 3. Fold the cardstock at all the score lines and use Paper Snips to cut the intersecting score lines, also trimming the inside corners of the ‘front’ of the truck (so that it does not show on the outside of the truck and allows you to lean the front of the box in to follow the shape of the truck front) 4. Add Tear & Tape Adhesive to the edges as shown below (this is what your final piece will look like!) 5. Trim along the blue lines as shown in the diagrams above if you have cut out a window 6. If you have cut a window, before peeling off the adhesive backing, make sure the tabs you have cut will not be seen through your window 7. Peel the adhesive from the Tear & Tape Adhesive strips and start by adhering the back of the box to the back edge of the truck trying not to leave much space as you don’t want too much sticking out the front of the truck; Adhere the back and bottom side 8. Note: for the ‘front’ of the truck you will be following the slanted edge of the truck shape so the front side will not be straight up; do this for both stamped truck pieces 9. Finally, you are ready to add your treats! Add whatever treats you like to a cellophane bag, add ribbon and a tag. Here I used the new Emerald Envy 1/8” Taffeta Ribbon and the Classic Label Punch to create a tag from Peekaboo Peach cardstock. You can download the Tasty Truck Treat Holder Instructions to print at home! Hi there! Thanks for joining us today on this blog hop. We are a small group of Card Making Canadians from all over Canada that wanted to have a fun blog hop to celebrate Canada Day! Today we're sharing with you cards that have been created with either Canadian products, a Canadian theme or Canada's colours! We hope they inspire you! And Happy Birthday Canada!! 145 years young today! You should have come here from the lovely Chelle's Blog but if you just stumbled upon my blog and want to go back to the beginning of the hop then please go to the Creative Accents blog and follow the links. Be sure to leave a comment as there is a $20 gift certificate to the Creative Accents online store up for grabs - details are at the end of this post. If you have joined me from Practical Scrappers, welcome. I am so excited to be a new PS designer!! I have two projects to share with today. The first is a layout (I know, I know, we advertised cards but I'm a layout girl at heart!!) with a very Red, White and Maple Leaf theme! The journalling is more reflective than normal (I've been working my way through Shimelle Laine's Cover to Cover class and I'm suddenly feeling the need to write down more than I normally would.) It reads: "I was not born in Canada. I moved here with my family in 1981 and became a Canadian Citizen a few years later (1984? '85?) I love being British and I am proudly Canadian! I love that I can be both at the same time and not feel any disloyalty to either party. My daughters ARE Canadian though. Born and bred (so far) and proud of it! We didn't have "British Day" growing up but we were sure to celebrate Canada Day at Fort George park (in Prince George) with different ethnic food vendors, bands, entertainers and lots of good friends, One of the best things about living in a small town again is discovering similar events that we can attend and that become part of our family traditions. These pictures are from the 2009 Canada Day Pancake Breakfast held in the street in front of the Delta Museum. The food is good, there are always fun bands playing - usually Celtic bands which particularly warm my heart - and if we time it right, we get a yummy strawberry cake made with berries from just down the road. We make every effort to go every year both to celebrate our country's birthday, and to connect with our community." Some close ups of the details for you. The maple leaves are stamped using the two part stamp set called Gently Falling. I used Real Red for the leaves and Basic Gray for the outline. The chipboard letters were cut out with my Big Shot (took a bit of muscle but I love the outcome!) using the Typeset Alphabet die and then coloured using Basic Gray. I added some rhinestones for a bit of sparkle too! To make sure the sides of the chipboard letters were coloured also, I used my Basic Gray Stampin' Write marker to ink the edges. The patterned paper you see is from the Designer Series Paper Patterns Stacks in Real Red and Whisper White. These are great pads of paper full of sheets in each colour family and simple, basic designs that can accent any project perfectly. My next project is (as this hop promised) a card! Another of the fabulous things about living where we live is that during the summer we have a market in the streets of "down town" every other Sunday. Last Sunday was a gorgeous day so we went for a wander. Lo and behold there was a booth (The Old Island Stamp Company) selling stamps!! Canadian made stamps no less. I crossed my fingers and prayed they'd have something I could use to make a truly Canadian card for today. Here it is ... I purchased a Canada Flag stamp which is stamped in Real Red onto Whisper White card stock and then cut out to create this tiled effect on the card base. I used a scrap of Whisper White Organza ribbon to create a bow. This little maple leaf was the other stamp I purchased which I stamped in Basic Gray and fussy cut. I used Dimensionals to lift it off my card and give it more presence. The "congratulations" sentiment was stamped into Versamark then Whisper White Craft ink THEN heat embossed with white embossing powder. I wanted to make sure it was as white as it could be!! This card is currently winging its way to my aunt who moved to Canada 12 years ago when she married a Canadian and who just recently (sorry Aunt Moira, I've forgotten exactly when!) got her Canadian Citizenship. I felt the need to send this to her as a reminder of how proud I am that she is now a Canadian too. Truly we are a diverse nation!! Awesome!! Well, thanks for joining me today. I seem to be running short on time these days so am resorting to last year's version of my Canada Day tablescape. Hope you enjoy seeing it again! In honour of Canada Day on July 1st, I've created a patriotic tablescape in our little cabana. Rather than state the obvious as I usually do when narrating, I'll leave it all to the words of our national anthem to take you through the pictures. (I'll post a few details at the end) O Canada! Our home and native land, True patriot love in all thy sons command With glowing hearts, we see thee rise The True North strong and free From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. God keep our land glorious and free O Canada! We stand on guard for thee. O Canada! We stand on guard for thee. Happy Canada Day! Although we Canadians tend to be a little bit "laid back" in our patriotism I, for one am very thankful to be a Canadian and am happy to celebrate the fact that I live in this magnificent country! Thanks for looking! Of course, I will be joining Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch. Thanks to Susan for hosting this fun time each week! Be sure to head over and check out all the other patriotic tablescapes! The details... Hi, all, I'm back with the latest MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Blueberry, Blue Yonder, Cement Gray, and Cherry Crisp. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started. Well, these colors screamed patriotic project to me! And since I’d recently used BB Strike up the Band for another card, a little parade banner occurred to me :) I started by stamping Sheet Music Background on Sweet Tooth card stock with Black Licorice hybrid ink and cutting it out with Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX Die-namics. I created my “bunting” by using Tiny Check Paper Pack for the bottom, Sweet Tooth card stock for the middle, and Blueberry card stock stamped with Tiny Stars Background and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder for the top layer. They were all cut with Stitched Dome STAX Die-namics and adhered to the banner with foam mounting tape, then I added LLD Stitched Alphabet Die-namics for the “USA” letters, also popped up on foam. The images were stamped on my new FAVORITE Copic paper, No-Line Coloring card stock. I’ve been using it for regular Copic stamping and, although the MFT store says there might be some bleeding with black and other dark inks I’ve seen NONE. I heat set my Black Licorice hybrid ink the first couple of times to be safe but have stopped doing that and it’s perfect. I love it because it is not *quite* as stark white as X-Press It Blending Card (some think it has a purplish cast but that never has bothered me once images are colored). My only real complaint about it is the weight—it’s too thin to pop up on foam well. The No-Line Coloring card stock is 100lb and perfect for that. I am officially in LOVE with it!! OK, so I stamped the images, cut them out with the coordinating dies, colored with Copic markers, and popped them up on the banners with foam tape. Then I strung the banners together with baker’s twine and it was done! And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $20 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week! Thanks for stopping by! See you soon! I have been really enjoying seeing all of the amazing 4th of July inspiration out there, but I have not been coming across too many patriotic ideas for us Canadians! I know there are ideas out ther…
Ok I realize that it is not anywhere near Canada Day but this is one of those layouts that I started and never got around to finishing:) We just got back today from a ski trip and I needed to do some crafting...it has been five days and I am seriously suffering withdrawal...lol!!! This layout was quick and easy to finish since it was already half done...so happy canada day...either VERY late or REALLY early! Ha! Ski trip was great but I didn't even take my camera on the hill. Seriously...if it doesn't involve my children, I don't take pictures. Need to change that. All products are close to my heart, except for the patterned paper.
Now it's time for me to show my Canadian pride.July 1st we celebrate our country. Which is just over a week away!! Sadly, it seems there aren't as many Canadian bloggers, therefore, not as many fun party printables.
Good morning all, thanks for stopping by. It's Tuesday again so that means it's a new challenge over at Cardz4Guyz. This week it is my choice of theme and guess what I chose to see your - Clean and Simple (CAS) creations for the men or boys in your life. I think CAS is a great way to make masculine cards, they don't need all the frippery just a strong design, less is definately more. As the nights draw in the leaves are starting to turn the hedgerows come alive with colour, it's probably my favourite season, still warmish in the day and with a hint of chill at night. So I went with an autumnal feel for my DT inspiration, so here it is. I used an off wide cardstock for this, not cream as I think it shows the colours off better. People have been talking of using Brusho in Blogland and it reminded me that I used to make leaves with my class using Brusho, a crystallised ink that can be used as a w/c or strainght from the tub in very small doses as it is extremely concentrated! I created the background panel by watercolouring some diluted yellow as a background with plenty of water, then added tiny sprinklings of the raw powder in yellow, brown and crimson. It is very messy and the dust will stain your fingers but the effect as you let the dust come into contact with water is spectacular. The dust separates into the constituent colours so you will get odd flecks of blue in the brown etc. The tiles were cut using my Cookie Cutter nesting square die and the leaf shape using a very old punch. Because I used a punch I couldn't get a very random cut but the end result was OK I think. After the inked panel was dry I cut it down and stuck it flat to the top panel but popped the squares up on foam as I did the top panel on the base. The greeting was stamped on a tab from a Marianne set using a Woodware greeting. OK, that's about it. Feel free to have a play, have fun and join us over at Cardz4Guyz. By the way we are still looking out for some talented crafters to join our happy band, so just add DT after your name when you enter the challenge. We don't bite honestly!! I shall enter the following challenges - The Male Room - Autumn Colours As You like it Challenge - Your favourite season I went with the picture only Thanks for calling by, see you again soon.
Woohoo! Canada Day is almost here! Here are some previously posted projects of mine. This year, I am entering a card contest. Please check back to see my entry as well as all the other cards in the contest!
