The Campology stamp set - yeah!- is carried over into the new Annual catalogue which debuts May 4. I have not made any cards with it to date, getting diverted by other stamp sets so today was the day! And I'm so pleased with the results - what was I waiting for? Camping season is arriving very quickly, and with the pandemic showing no signs of slowing down, this outdoor activity is sure to be popular. The campground in my city is already fully booked. The scene in this card is about as close as I'm going to get to camping. So, here's my card Have I mentioned lately that I love the new blender brushes? I used them to create the background for this card. These are the colours I used for the sky: Daffodil Delight, Blackberry Bliss, Balmy Blue, Night of Navy. For the grass I used Mossy Meadow. The trees were stamped with Soft Suede ink, using the coordinating Stamp Blend to fill in the tree trunks. After I created the sky I stamped the tent in an area where the sky was Daffodil Delight and masked it with a post it note to preserve the spot while I stamped the trees and bushes. After I removed the mask I added some definition and highlights by colouring with Cajun Craze Stampin' Blend. The cup and coffee pot were stamped on a separate piece of Basic White and coloured with Smokey Slate stampin' blend. After fussy cutting , I added it to the lower left of the scene. The sentiment, stamped Basic White, was trimmed before adding it to the left of the Coffee pot. It seemed very white against the Mossy Meadow background so I added some colour using the blender brush. To finish the card, I added a bow made with Mossy Meadow Braided linen trim, and some stars in the sky. Some Basic White was added to the inside. I stamped part of the trees on the right side, and with some left over colour on the brushes, some colour was added around them. Supplies Used: Stamp: Campology Inks: Black Memento, Daffodil Delight, Blackberry Bliss, Balmy Blue, Night of Navy, Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede, Blends (Smokey Slate, Soft Suede, Cajun Craze), White gel pen Papers: Mossy Meadow, Basic White Accessories: Blender Brushes, 3/16th " Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim

Hi Stampers, Today I am using two stamp sets, Campology and Happiest of Birthdays. Both sets are featured in the Stampin’ Up!®️ 2020-2021 Annual catalog. Today’s card is called a Wiper Card. The movement of the pop up mechanism resembles that of a car’s windshield wiper. Let’s get started with a look at the stamp sets. CAMPOLOGY When I saw this stamp set, I knew it would become a part of my collection! What great images! “Happy Trails” is my favorite sentiment in the set. For me Campology is my go to set for creating fun cards to send the happy campers in my life. HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS The large greetings included in this birthday stamp set really take the cake! The large greetings can function as the focal point for easy, yet awesome cards! Now that we’ve seen today’s featured stamp sets, let’s take a look at today’s Wiper Card. (Card Front) (Card Back) (Card opened with wiper showing) SUPPLIES Along with the stamps sets, here are other supplies needed to create this card: * For the card base - Two pieces of Real Red cardstock 8 1/2” x 4 1/4” and one piece of Real Red that is 3” x 1 3/8” * Two pieces of Basic Black cardstock cut at 5 1/4” x 4” for mats. * Two pieces of Basic White cardstock for stamping the main images. * Scraps of Basic White and Real Read * Memento Tuxedo Black Ink * Stampin’ Blends Markers - Real Read (dark and light) * Paper Snips * Stitched Rectangles Dies - this one measures 2 7/8” x 1 1/2”. * Stampin’ Seal+ * Tear & Tape * Dimensionals ASSEMBLING THE CARD * Score the two pieces of 8 1/2” x 4 1/4” cardstock at 1 1/2” and 3” along the 8 1/2” side. Lightly score the 3” x 1 3/8” piece of cardstock at 1 1/2” using the score blade on your trimmer. Next rotate the cardstock so one end of the score line and one corner of the cardstock align in the cutting/ scoring track, and score. There should be a diagonal score line running along one half of the cardstock piece. * On one piece of Basic White cardstock randomly stamp the lantern image using the Memento Tuxedo Black ink. * On the other piece of Basic White cardstock stamp the “ Wishing You the Happiest of Birthdays” greeting toward the left hand side of the paper. Then stamp the lantern image to the right and toward the top of the greeting. I angled the lantern a bit. * Add color to the lanterns using the Real Red Stampin’ Blends. * Mat each of these focal pieces to a Basic Black mat using the Stampin’ Seal or adhesive of your choice. * On the scrap piece of Basic White cardstock stamp the “It’s your day” sentiment and the “Happy B-Day” sentiment. * Use the paper snips to fussy cut the “Happy B-Day” greeting and adhere it to the top of the 3” x 1 3/8” piece of Real Red cardstock. (The top is the end that is not scored.) * Use the Stitched Rectangles die to cut out the remaining sentiment. Mount this on a piece of Real Red cardstock that is 2 7/8” x 1 1/2”. * With the “Happy B-Day” facing up, place Tear & Tape on the bottom left side of the piece - below the diagonal score line. This is the “Wiper.” It will be adhered to the back side of the card front. *Remove the backing from the Tear & Tape on the “wiper.” Place the card front face down. Align the wiper between the two score lines on the card front. Use the horizontal score line on the wiper (the one lightly scored at 1 1/2”) and line it up with the top edge of the card. Adhere into place. * Put adhesive on the back side of left hand section of the card front. Adhere the right hand side of the card back to this section. Repeat the process to attach the remaining sides of the card. * This is how the card should look when looking down over it. * Adhere the “It's Your Day” sentiment to the front of the card using dimensionals. The card is complete! * To operate the wiper device: pull outwards on both sides of the card to make the wiper come up. Push inward on both sides of the card to make the wiper go down. WIPER CARD HOW TO VIDEO Here are two other Wiper Cards I made using the CAMPOLOGY stamp set. I played up the binocular theme on this card by adding the two die cut circle frames around the Happy Birthday. The theme for this card - Pop Up Tent, of course! I had a lot of fun making these cards, and I can’ t wait to send them to the camping enthusiasts in my life, I hope you give the Wiper Card a try. It is fun to make and fun to receive, That’s all for today. Until next time... Stamp Happy! Kim All stamps and stamped images©️1990-2021 Stampin’ Up!

Hey Stampin' Friends! How's your summer going? Getting outside to enjoy your surroundings? Taking in all that nature has to offer? We are! Summer's are short in Montana so you have to pack a lot into a small window. One of our favorite activities is camping! I didn't grow up camping but am so glad I married into it. It's taken various forms over 40 years but I still enjoy it just as much if not more, the older I get. I'm not sure I even knew there was a field of study called "Campology" but there must be since Stampin'Up! created a stamp set to celebrate it! I had this set on my "must have" list right at the top. Since I got it, it has been a challenge to design with for one big reason - the scale of the images are different from each other. That does weird tricks with your eyes so you have to figure out a clever way to work around things that are smaller than they should be compared to other things that are bigger. For instance, the tent in this stamp set is one of the smallest images and the lantern is one of the biggest. If you camp at all, you know that makes no sense. So, the challenge becomes how to design a project where the scale is compatible given what you are working with. I enjoyed the challenge and came up with a few ideas: This card uses many of the "Campology" stamps as well as the "Mountain Air" mountains in the background. I purposely offset the coffee pot and cup in a circle "window" so it's featured front and center but doesn't need to be the same scale as the rest of the card images. This card was pretty good after all my stamping but really sparked when I hand drew in the trail with a Stampin'Write marker. To get extra depth in the mountains, do a technique I call "shadow stamping". That involves inking up your stamp once, really well, then stamp, lift up, move slightly up or down and to the right or left and stamp again, WITHOUT reinking the stamp. The second image will create a shadow of the first one and give you some depth. This was actually the first card I made and I used the same window circle idea for the coffee pot and cup but in this example, I used my Stampin' Blends markers to color the tent and coffee pot. The subtle background grid stamp comes from the "Comfort and Hope" set. After I was all done stamping, I embossed the entire piece in the 3D Tasteful Textile embossing folder. I love adding that slight bit of texture to my work but it needs to be done after your stamping is complete, otherwise it is too bumpy to stamp on! Finally I decided to try a slimline card. The measurements of the card base are 8-1/2" x 7" with a score line at 3-1/2". These are fun to make as it is a different sized background to try and design on. I knew I needed a "trail" so I used a stamp from the "Playing with Patterns set! I love Pear Pizzaz with our new In Color Cinnamon Cider! I want to spend some more time with this set just like I want to spend some more time camping before summer wraps up. It's fun to challenge yourself and figure out a solution when you realize that of course the binoculars are not as big as the trees in real life! I try not to get frustrated and instead look at it as an opportunity to push myself and learn something which is always good! I've listed my supplies below and hope you'll put this fun stamp set on your wish list. We are overwhelmed with new products right now with the Annual Catalog and the Aug-Dec Mini catalog coming out! I have a pretty big stack of new products that I haven't touched so that's my goal the rest of August... create, stamp, dream, and repeat. What a fun way to spend at least part of my life! If you have questions, need help with an order or want to purchase Stampin'Up! product, I'd be honored to be your demonstrator (if you live in the United States). Contact me and we'll get you going on your next favorite past time! Happy Stampin'! Sarah
