I'm linking up with Mrs. Jump for a fun linky! Each week you share a favorite book you like to use in the classroom. Since I LOVE children's literature (as most teachers do), I had to join in the fun! I chose to share Does a Kangaroo have a Mother too? by Eric Carle. Everyone loves Eric Carle!!! He is most famous for some of his other books, but there are so many others that are just as good! The pictures will capture their attention! My daughter is only 16 months old, and she LOVES this book already! This would be perfect for so many lessons.. but I use this book when talking about mommas and their offspring. We use our Interactive Science Journals to match the baby to its mother. Click the picture below to grab this page for FREE! Don't forget to link up with Mrs. Jump to join the fun!

As a schoolboy, I was often overwhelmed by the wordiness of a lesson or the complexity of a problem. Somehow I knew that I could understand better if the teacher would rephrase, shorten, or simplify the lesson or problem to be solved.

I have been trying to get ready for our Mother's Day story time in May and found this oldie, but goodie. Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother Too? by Eric Carle works for all ages. If you have a group that doesn't sit well for long stories, the rhymes make it easy to paperclip pages together so you feel like you accomplish something. At the end of each page, Carle asks "Does a giraffe have a mother too?" (underlined animal changes each page). The kids love thinking about and answering this question. The flannelboard pieces are all made out of fun foam. I added googly eyes and drew in details with permanent markers (my favorite is the giraffe).
