This is a print-at-home PDF reproduction of an incredibly rare bodice and sleeve tailoring system from the 1800s. It is called Cornwell's Improved Self-Fitting System of Dresscutting and was manufactured by Willett Cornwell (though designed by his wife) of Chicago, IL. A printed version of this set is available here. Dates: According to the instruction booklet, the original design was copyrighted in 1868 (making this one of the earliest, if not THE earliest chart system ever invented). The "Improved" edition was copyrighted in 1870. Drafting instructions are printed on the pieces and an extremely rare 42-page instruction book is also included as an e-book with this set. The instruction booklet was not originally included in this system in the 1870s - one sent in a coupon requesting it after purchasing the system. It also includes a few color fashion plates from ladies' magazines of this era to better give an idea of color and fabric choice for the time period. The included sleeve piece was also printed later than the bodice set and sold separately. The system includes a Bodice Front Rule, Bodice Back Rule, Sleeve (designed to draft a two-piece sleeve), and instruction booklet. Sizing: It includes children's 20-26" bust, and women's 28-46" bust. All you will need to do is print the chart pages on US letter or A4 paper, tape together, glue them to a stiff piece of poster board, and then cut it out. Please note: This system is for drafting a sloper pattern only. You will not need this system to use any of the 'draft-at-home' patterns in our shop. DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Advanced Couturière. May include little-to-no instructions, no facings, no buttonhole markings, no hand-holding of any kind etc. If you like a challenge, if your friends refer to you as the sewing God/ Goddess, if you are made of thread, needles, and ferocity, this pattern is for you. Please note that we are unable to provide any sewing help with advanced level patterns. You will get a clean, working, translated, beautiful pattern but please don't expect help with sewing questions on these. There simply aren't enough hours in the day for us to provide that service to everyone. We have been professionally reproducing vintage patterns and books since 2008 and are very proud to offer very high-quality, digitally drafted historically accurate reproductions. © 2022 Mrs. Depew Vintage LLC. The grading set includes the 4 rulers and the pattern awl. This is a method that I have developed over the years to help my students. They are only sold in ETSY, by me. Grading rulers are tools for grading patterns in ACTUAL SIZE, saving time and money. With their integrated gradation of 11 sizes and 5 different spacings, which can be reproduced in 2 directions, it is an essential for any sewing workshop, as much for the fashion design student as for the designer. The color coding makes it so simple that anyone can use it, whether working with centimeters or inches. The drawing on the ruler is for reference, as you can see in my videos. Gradation points are full size. *If ordering multiple sets, contact me for pricing and combined shipping costs. *No pattern included Can be used with a pattern awl or fine felt pen. Produces full size gradation for men, women and plus size Whether the pattern is in inches or centimeters. Whether the pattern has seam allowances or not.

Medieval Corset Halloween edition Underbust lace-up linen corset belt We've spent several months experimenting with the shape of the pattern to avoid problems with comfort and make it fit all sizes. Now it's certainly made to last: consists of 16 parts, both front portion and lining made of high-end natural linen with all seams secured with multiple rows of stitching. New lace-up corset belt is intended to cinch up your waist and flatten the abdomen to get instant curves. It expands from under the solar plexus down to the upper hip bones. Its front portion is wider than the back in a ratio of 9 13/16" by 7 7/8" in all sizes. Synthetic whalebones mold the curve from the waist to the abdomen, while neatly arranging the underbelly. Features front lacing which makes it easier to adjust and modify these widths to your needs and is drafted to fit fully closed in the back. The lacing is designed to keep a V-shaped gap by default, which is desirable for the laced effect, but in larger sizes it can be laced up edge-to-edge without ruining the fit. Like all corsets, it should be slightly smaller (approx. 2-4") than your true waist circumference, so it could fit firmly and sit above the waist in the middle of your hourglass. That is, if your waist circumference of 33", we’d recommend getting the corset of 29-31" width, depending on what level of tightening and comfort you prefer. The corset easily reduces your waist by up to 4 inches for the perfect hourglass figure, while keeping you comfortable. Medieval corset can add an extra wow factor to your period dresses and separates. Pair it with sackcloth tunic to create the witchcraft look. In black, it’s the best accessory to complete the somber mood - what else would you wear to a witches' sabbath? To check how to measure yourself please click here. This is a digital draft-at-home pattern for a stylish dress with unique, youthful details. This princess seam dress includes pleats cleverly hidden within the skirt design to add fullness to the skirt shape. The bodice and sleeve are cut in one and may be made in contrasting fabric. Fabrics: non-stretch fabrics such as cotton, linen, rayon etc. Fabric: this pattern requires approximately 4.8 meters (about 5 1/4 yards) 100 cm wide (40 inches wide). Fabric requirements given are for a 98 cm bust average. More or less may be required depending on the size you choose to draft. Year: circa 1949. SIZING: ANY SIZE. This is a pattern from a French pattern drafting system fairly similar to the Lutterloh golden rule patterns. You will be able to draft a pattern to your exact size from the miniature pattern template and specially designed rulers. To draft any of these special patterns to doll, children, and adult sizes is easy. Rulers are available to draft the pattern as small as a 5 1/2" bust/hip to as large as a 60" bust/hip and the pattern will be scaled perfectly every time. But that’s not all! Want to make a pattern LARGER than a 60 inch chest? Use a measuring band HALF the desired size and DOUBLE each number that you draft from your miniature template. Example: to draft a pattern for an 82 inch chest (208 cm) chose the 104 CM measuring band and when the pattern tells you to mark at 30, you mark at 60 instead. ALL RULERS ARE INCLUDED AS PRINTABLES WITH THESE PATTERNS. Don't have a printer? Not a problem! We offer a printing service Add-on for these patterns. Simply add the printing service to your cart along with this pdf pattern. (You will still need to draft your pattern using the printed tools - we do not offer a drafting service at this time.) The pattern includes basic markings and notches that show you how they fit together, and indications such as dotted lines for cutting on the fold. I have included several pages of drafting instructions that I have translated from the original French personally. The illustrated instructions show you how to easily draw your pattern pieces from the miniature pattern template using your special ruler. These patterns were marketed originally to both home seamstresses and professionals alike and assume that you have a basic understanding of clothing construction. The original patterns DO NOT include any sewing instructions or facings. To sew these, you should have a basic understanding of how pattern pieces should fit together. The pattern pieces are illustrated in such a way that you can see how they are supposed to be sewn to each other. DIFFICULTY LEVEL: These patterns might be a bit difficult for the beginner but an intermediate level home seamstress will most likely have little trouble. For a complete tutorial on drafting your pattern including photos, check out this blog post. QUESTIONS? Check out our draft-at-home patterns FAQ page which included video tutorials! What you will need: Paper (I use large tracing paper but butcher paper, muslin fabric, wrapping paper etc all work great!) Pencil It's that simple! No special tools are required! Measuring band type: Class B If French is your first language and you would prefer a copy of the instructions in French, you can find them here.
