Brooke, Rachel, and Jill inherited the family beach house, but their grandmother said they had to spend two weeks together at the house and wait for letters she would send every day via courier to tell her life’s story and her secrets. The girls arrived and so did the first letter. They cried when they read the first letter as well as each successive one. The letters told in detail the story of her life and their father’s life. The girls were shocked and saddened at what they read. They also were not in agreement about whether to sell the house or to keep it. Rachel and Brooke wanted to sell, but Jill didn’t want to give up the house and all its memories. A LETTER FROM NANA ROSE is a sweet read. I loved the stories and the memories, but felt bad for Nana Rose and all she had to go through. If you are in need of a book to keep you turning the pages because you want to find out the secrets of Nana Rose and the girls and feel the warmth of being in the cottage and in this family, be sure to add this book in your reading list. Women’s fiction fans won’t want to miss A LETTER FROM NANA ROSE. 5/5 This book was given to me by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Every part of the United States comes from a unique and conflicted history. When we think of history in the western part of the country, we think of cowboys, sa
How many little souls are there? There are quite a few little souls who became orphans once their parents were killed in the war or perished with the Spanish Flu. We meet Dorothy, now an orphan, Helen a nurse, and Lutie a fashion designer living together as a family in Denver during WWI and the pandemic of 1918. Helen and Lutie moved to Denver after the death of their parents, and they made Dorothy their sister. All three characters were well developed and lovable. Of course there are some unsavory characters to deal with, but the book is one historical fiction fans and women’s fiction fans will enjoy. Some uncomfortable situations are also addressed, but the story line will draw you in and deals with the struggles of women and how folks lived through the 1918 pandemic and the war. Along with the Spanish Flu problems, a murder and kidnapping occur. Despite the situations of the characters, the story line is also very well written and appropriate for this time with our current pandemic. Enjoy when you read this book. 4/5 This book was given to me by the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

It is WWII - men are enlisting, the women are left alone, and Kew Gardens is again looking for women to help. Daisy’s mother, Ivy, had worked at Kew Gardens during the last war, and Daisy was excited to help. She knew it would help her to not miss her husband so much. We learn about what the Londoners went through and learn about Anderson Bomb Shelters. We get to visit with Ivy and Louisa again and see new friendships and old ones continuing and blossoming along with all the flowers and vegetables being grown. We also get to meet new characters that will warm your heart. You will love the strength of the women and how they all work together to help each other get through each of their darkest times. And you can’t have a wartime book without love. Love that is lost because of war as well as love that is difficult to achieve because of prejudices. A lovely, lovely read despite heartbreaking war situations. This book is very enjoyable and uplifting just as the first KEW GARDENS book was. You do not need to read the first book to enjoy this book, but my review of THE KEW GARDENS GIRLS is HERE if you want to check it out and see how Ivy's mother and Louisa warmed the hearts of readers when they were young. 5/5 This book was given to me by the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

Where could Charlie be, what is Charlie's real name, and what is his past? Did he disappear on purpose because of the massive debt he had accumulated? Since they found his wallet at the controversial festival, was he harmed or kidnapped? We find out where he is and what happened to him as we also find out that this small town has many secrets being kept. We meet quite a few characters who have shady pasts and shady current situations. The character that becomes the main focus is Elise King who is a policewoman on sick leave and the one who takes on the investigation of where Charlie really is and who he really is. It is good for Elise since she has been bored. Her friend and neighbor, Ronnie, also gets in on the investigation. Will she find out what happened to Charlie...is it a local person, a person he owed money to, or just a random act of violence. It actually took a while to connect to the story line and to the characters, and the multiple number of characters did become confusing. The intensity of Elise’s investigation and her determination did make the book more interesting as we learned about police procedure. I was a bit disappointed about the beginning of the book because I always enjoy Ms. Barton’s books...it was confusing, but it did get wrapped up in the end. 3/5 This book was given to me by the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

Instead of reviewing 2018, I decided to just share my goals for 2019! Here are my personal and blog goals that I set for this year!
Hattie Kavanaugh has been renovating old houses since was eighteen, but the one she currently was renovating with her father-in-law was one she couldn't handle or afford. She had to stop the project and sell. The day before she gave up, Mo appeared. He was a television producer who wanted to film her from the minute she stepped onto the property of the fixer upper, during the renovation, and when the fix up was finished. She resisted his offer at first, but realized she had to take it. After selling the money-pit house, Hattie had to find another fixer upper for next to nothing because she had next-to-no money. She luckily found one and bought a condemned property sight unseen. She really did buy a lemon of a house, but that wasn't the only problem she encountered. She definitely got herself into more than a home restoration. She and her crew found things in the condemned property that gave clues to a twenty-year-old unsolved missing person/murder investigation. This setback didn't stop her. You will love Hattie and her resilience and strength. Ms. Andrews certainly knows how to write a great story. Fans of mystery, fans of books you won’t want to stop reading, and fans of Ms. Andrews' books will love THE HOMEWRECKERS. Another gem that is a perfect read for summer or any season - don’t miss it. 5/5 This book was given to me by the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

Three women, three different time periods, three different situations, but they all find the Ritz of Paris to be their comfort zone. We meet Aurelie in 1914 who lived at the Ritz with her mother. She needed to get away and had the perfect excuse. She drove her fiancée to the front, and on her way back, her car was shot up. She thankfully was near her father’s estate and walked there to only find she would be stuck there because the Nazis had arrived and had taken over the estate. We meet Daisy in 1942 who was raised by her grandmother at the Ritz and who eventually helped her grandmother with the resistance. Then we meet Babs in 1964 whose husband had been in the war and had befriended La Fleur who was a resistance fighter. Babs wants to find out who La Fleur was since her husband called out her name a number of times before his death. She also meets at the Ritz with an American lawyer who is also looking for La Fleur. There are quite a few characters to keep straight, but the main characters are strong, brave, and very likeable. Babs was my favorite...her story had me laughing at some of the things she did and said. Aurelie’s story was the most interesting because of her situation but was the most upsetting. I admired Daisy for what she was doing for the French Resistance, and enjoyed reading about another way things were secretly done. The 3W's did it again!! ALL THE WAYS WE SAID GOODBYE is another marvelous, well-researched, difficult-to-put-down tale. We readers are again treated to their detailed writing, terrific story line, and smooth transition from one author to the next, but have a notebook handy to keep all the characters straight. Do not miss reading this gem. 5/5 This book was given to me by the publisher via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
