The venerable French Conceptualist Bernar Venet has struck a chord with the Hong Kong art world.
Nice is more than just a large city in France – it's also a major Riviera resort. With its prime location on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea it was only a matter of time before people fled the cold climate of northern Europe for the sun and surf of the Côte d'Azur. In the 19th century Nice became an important seaside resort for tourists, especially those from England and Russia, and the famous Promenade des Anglais, Walkway of the English, was built by these English tourists. Baie des Anges, Bay of Angels, Nice The Promenade des Anglais stretches for four miles along the Baie des Anges, Bay of Angels, from Castle Hill in the east to Nice Airport in the west. The Promenade des Anglais extends from Castle Hill... ... along the Baie des Anges... ... as far as Nice Airport. There's no sand in Nice, just a long stretch of smooth pebbles. Public Beach Private Beach, Plage Beau Rivage The Pebble Beach of Nice On a free day I spent some down time relaxing at our hotel's private beach, the Plage Beau Rivage. Use of a lounger for a full day costs €20 plus €5 for an umbrella (which can be shared between two loungers). Add another €5 to the tab if you want a lounger in a prime front row spot. With our group's table mere feet away from the rolling Mediterranean surf, I watched planes flying into the sunset as they began their descent into the airport. This etching comes from the portfolio "Combinaison Aleatoire de Lignes Indeterminees" by French sculptor and artist Bernar Venet. Throughout his career, Venet moved from action painting into a more logical, mathematical style influenced by Minimalism. In this series of six aquatint etchings, the viewer can see both free movement and that logical Minimalist style. This piece is signed and numbered 6/90 in pencil. It measures 19.5 x 20 inches and is in excellent condition.
The esteemed sculptor's arresting steel works will be on display at Kasmin, while his largest public installation opens in Belgium.

Nine Straight Lines, Bernar Venet (2010).
bernar venet's 'the arch hypothesis' puts together in mathematical means, a set of ordered lines, which fall into piled chaos.

A pioneer of conceptual art in New York in the late 1960s, Bernar Venet talks about changing the history of art, his friendships with artists whose works he collects and his ambitions for the Venet Foundation, which opened its doors in southeastern France on July 12, 2014.
With his large-scale installations, Jannis Kounellis – pioneer of Arte Povera – celebrated ‘poor’ materials as reminiscences of the waning age of industrialism. ‘For me, iron and coal are materials that best reflect the world of the industrial revolution and, with this, the origins of contemporary culture.’ (Kounellis 1989) His works are complemented here by more recent artists, including, among others, Ayşe Erkmen, Anselm Kiefer, Michael Sailstorfer and Bernar Venet.
