Hello lovelies! How are you all doing? I'm doing very well thanks! I've been a tad busy over the past month and my work schedule has definitely been consuming my time. Even though I haven't found the time to write any blog posts, I made sure I still had some hooky time for myself. Remember back in March when I shared some of the new yarn that I had bought.... I've been playing around with this yummy cotton (Cottonell by Wolle Rödel) and have enjoyed working with the vibrant colours that I had purchased. I've been working on a rather charming cushion pattern and decided to keep it very simple and only use a couple of colours from my colourful collection. I decided upon the bright pink and the luscious shade of lime, a combination that really contrasts with one another. Once I had made a choice of yarn colour, I gathered my essential hooky tools and got to work on this fun project. I started off with an adjustable loop and with half double crochets. I crocheted round and round in a continuous spiral. Using a stitch marker to indicated the beginning and end of each round. I crocheted until I had a circle just the right size to match the diameter of my 14inch round cushion. Once my circle was big enough I fastened off and began to work on some contrasting spiral detailing. . Doesn't the pink clash with the green in a rather splendid way!? Round and round I went, following the spiralling holes of the half double crochets. Once finished I had a rather psychedelic looking cover for my cushion. It was a little wrinkled... But nothing a light steam wouldn't fix. It looks a little 70's inspired! I made two of these circles, both using green as the main colour and pink for the spiralling detail. Once finished, I had an identical top and bottom to my cushion cover. I sandwiched my cushion between my crocheted spiralling circles and stitched the circles together with a simple single crochet. Every now and then I would add a bead or two to the single crochets. Just to add a little extra flair to my cushion! Once finished, I fastened off and was left with a very neat and Summery looking cushion that just oozed happiness! Simple, but busy! The spiral effect is almost hypnotising! This jolly cushion complements my turquoise chair wonderfully.... and is rather at home lying in the centre of my bed, looking as if it has always lived there! This was a rather fun and simple project. I'm extremely happy with the results and am going to get busy making a few extra cushions with the other coloured yarn I have. Today's post marks the conclusion of scarf week! It seems like scarves are all I talked about this week, I guess it makes sense since this has been the coldest week of the winter here in Montreal, it's hard not to think about scarves during times like this! My koigu saroyan scarf is my first FO of 2011. Last night I finished another project too, I'll blog about that one later when I've got some good FO shots of it. For today, it's all about the scarf. This gorgeous, very long, skinny scarf. I did 5 repeats of the increase section, knit straight for 23 more repeats, and then finished off with 5 decrease repeats. My finished scarf is 7" wide and 86" long, that's over 7' long! It's long, but it's still very light and lovely. It's exactly what I was hoping for. This scarf took two full skeins of Koigu kpppm in colourway P118 and was knit on 4mm needles. I blocked it using blocking wires for the long straight edge, and a pin or two in each leaf. I love the way that each loop picked up by the wire creates this gorgeous little lacy edge on the straight garter stitch side. It's so pretty. While I was knitting this, I had a couple concerns, the first was that the busy-ness of the yarn colour would distract too much from the leaves, not so, the leaves are crisp and clear! Secondly, I was worried that I should have possibly knit the whole flat section in garter stitch rather then only a small garter stitch border flanking so much stockinette stitch to prevent it from rolling in on itself too much, but in the end, it rolls a bit, but not so much so that you can't see the leaf detail, which is the important part. If I were to knit this pattern again in fingering weight yarn I would consider doing it all in garter stitch (except for the leaves) just to see if it really makes a difference. The yarn in lovely. It was my first time knitting with koigu and though I don't think I would use it for socks since it's quite a thin 2 ply and I would worry about the socks durability, the colourway is so interesting. I love the spots of multicolour on the light background, I don't know how they do it, but it's really special. One of my favorite things about this pattern is the simplicity and straightforwardness in which it's written. You can really alter it to make it exactly the size you want by doing more or less increase sections, and because its knit from end to end and not from side to side, by weighing the yarn used to increase and knitting straight until you have the same amount of yarn left when you start the decreases, you can use up every last bit of yarn. Am Wochenende sind ein paar Häkeluntersetzer entstanden. Vier um genau zu sein, für jedes Familienmitglied eines. das für den Hund habe ich mir gespart...das macht so wenig Sinn ;-) Obwohl ich mir manchmal denke, der Hund saut beim Essen bzw. Trinken weniger rum als die Kinder... ....ich glaube für die Kinder muß ich noch welche aus Wachstuch machen. Die Idee für die Untersetzer habe ich von hier Und habe sie (klaro) in den für mich typischen Farben und Stoffen umgesetzt. Fast zu schade um was drauf zu stellen ... ...mir fällt da gerade ein: Vielleicht häkel ich noch ein paar mehr und mache eine Art Wimpelkette daraus, also eine Art "Untersetzerkette"...naja ihr wißt schon was ich meine. Mal sehen...jetzt liegen sie erstmal im Tassenregal und sind reserviert für Menschen, die Trinken können, ohne daß die Hälfte des Kakaos jedesmal daneben geht. Gerne auch zum Nachmachen! Sem ser de saldo você acha ela no Bazar Horizonte a R$6,50 cada - a cor que eu usei foi Europa, linda toda vida (no saldo também comprei preta...). É tipo uma parente rica da linha Anne, 100 % algodão, mas é torcida e brilhante, igual fios os mais caros do mercado - vale a pena comprar.. Tem receitinha de mãe (manequim 40/42) - como sempre (feita prás filhinhas...) - e fiz até vídeo, pois estava divinamente inspirada e tinha alguém prá filmar - minha Lola, minha Deusa da Beleza Eterna! Mas tem dois poréns: primeiro: tá uma bagunça danada no meu quarto de tricô/costura/bagunças. Então fechem os olhos prá isso, pois é como eu sempre digo: gênios são bagunceiros (e eu sou 1% gênio e qualquer porcentagem vale...). Segundo: Mas que voz é essa que eu tenho? Como é que meus filhos me apreciam cantando, como é que o Marildo me implora prá ler prá ele??? É preciso muito amor... Bem que minha sogrinha dizia que minha voz era "fanhóca" igual a da Regina Duarte... Aguentem corajosamente se quiserem aprender o ponto - que é super fácil e vale a pena: (O cabelo lindo demais da minha filha? Foi a mãe dela quem descoloriu e pintou, prá variar...)

El sábado por la mañana me acerqué a una mercería de mi barrio en la que suelo comprar, la mercería Nadel, porque necesitaba un poco de fieltro para terminar un amigurumi que tenía entre manos (el resultado no es tan bueno como me gustaría y, como uno tiene sus criterios de calidad, no lo enseñaré). Vi que en los estantes del fondo, donde está expuesta la lana, tenían ovillos de Big Merino de Katia... y no pude resistirme: compré unos ovillos para tejer cualquier cosa que se me pudiera ocurrir. Me apetecía hacer algo sencillo y rápido, con lo que pasar la tarde del sábado (aunque la lana en agosto no es la mejor opción... ¡qué calor pasé!): pues un cuello. Con agujas del 10 (en la etiqueta se indica que se teje con 6.5-7, pero suelo apretar bastante y quería que quedase bien suelto) monté 60 puntos y tejí 51 vueltas a punto bobo. Cerré el tejido y cosí los laterales. A pesar de ser algo tan simple, creo que ha quedado bastante aparente. Esta semana (y estoy impaciente) tengo que recibir un pedido que he hecho con agujas de knooking de madera de KnitPro y alguna cosilla más a tiradelovillo. Como compré lana de más (he gastado dos ovillos y me quedan otros dos) creo que probaré a hacer el mismo cuello con el ganchillo de knooking. Así uno de los dos lo puedo regalar.
