Enoshima Shrine, located on Enoshima Island in Kanagawa Prefecture, is dedicated to Benzaiten, the goddess of music, knowledge, and wealth. Established in 552 AD, it consists of three main shrines: Hetsu-no-Miya, Nakatsu-no-Miya, and Okutsu-no-Miya. The shrine complex features stunning architecture, dragon sculptures, and beautiful views of Sagami Bay. A popular site for tourists and pilgrims, Enoshima Shrine is known for its cultural festivals and the legend of the sea dragon and goddess Benzaiten. The surrounding island offers scenic trails, caves, and a botanical garden, making it a peaceful retreat near Tokyo. This poster was created using the original picture of the Goshuin. If you visited the temple, you could frame it with your own Goshuin over it.

Benzaiten started originally as a deity associated with an ancient holy river and is was venerated as a personification of this river and water. Over time Benzaiten became associated with all things that flow like water such as poetry, art, and music. Thus, Benzaiten is depicted with a lute, or Biwa playing heavenly music. This print is 5”x7” printed on fine Japanese Kitakata paper. Benzaiten does not come with altar, or Fram. Pictured in a 4"x6" frame on altar.
