Lord Voldemort stared at the cradle where there was not one, but two children where he had only been expecting one. He leaned forward, eyes narrowed. "Which one of you... is my supposed death?" Or Albus Dumbledore's warnings came to fruition. (Originally posted on AO3, but I thought I'd start posting it here too!)

A wonderful blend of the most beautiful blue blend. I love to wear this style scarf with my jean jacket! The perfect lightweight scarf to wear with a sweater, blouse, dress, or my personal favorite a tee shirt and jeans : ) Measures approximately 6.25" x 62" plus fringe. I have handwoven this scarf with bamboo and rayon thread, in a beautiful blend of blues, and cream with a variegated thread blend. I have also woven in wonderful little ribbons to add some extra color accents. Hand wash, and hang to dry.

Spruce Harbor is a sleek, asymmetrical triangular scarf worked on the bias. The plush garter stitch is edged with I-cord, and the color blocking lets you play with as many or as few colors as you like. The finished measurements are a wingspan of 70” and a center back of 13.5” after blocking. The sample was gently steam-blocked. You can certainly be more aggressive in your blocking and make the scarf larger and more open. The directions are written for sport weight yarn on a US size 7 (4.5mm) needle, specifically chickadee by quince&co. You can use any weight of yarn with the appropriate needle (for example, if using fingering weight yarn, I would suggest a US size 5 (3.75mm) needle, and any combinations of colors. The number of skeins and total yards used will change if a different yarn is used. The I-cord edging is worked as you work the scarf and then as an I-cord bind off. The sample shown uses one skein each of chickadee in Aleutian, Kumlien’s Gull, Iceland and Honey. The skill level is Advanced Beginner. Correction: Scarf Body Row 1 (RS): K3, ssk, knit to last 2 sts, kf&b, k1.

Asymmetric Triangle shawl knit starting at one point. Knit with garter stitch, surface texture designs and lace. It takes 1 skein each of 3 different colours of the Ella Rae Cozy Alpaca Chunky yarn. Works best if knit on 6.5mm circular needles 80cm - 100 cm long. Finished size is approximately 59cm (20”) deep by 180 cm (72”) long. Jan 1/17 :Note#… Section 2 does not line up as expected! It is intended to be out of sync with the previous row! Do not panic!
This is an asymmetrical, triangular scarf alternating stripes and lace with solid sections in between. A very fun knit, you will want to make many! This pattern is very similar to the Summer Concept Shawl. I used a larger needle with a more wintery feel yarn. Dream in Color Cosette is absolutely wonderful to work with. The drape is gorgeous and feels amazing.
Pattern Three from the Birthstone Shawl Collection The name “aquamarine” comes from the Latin words Aqua (water) and marina (the sea). It was believed that these gemstones would protect sailors and ensure a safe seafaring voyage. It was also recommended that Aquamarine be worn to promote calm, levelheaded temperments. SHAPE: Scoop bottom / crescent The main body of this design is worked in garter stitch. The border is then knit on sideways. No seaming involved! There are two choices of border – a celtic cable and a traveling lace version. The cable version uses more yarn than the lace. If you’re low on yardage, but want a larger shawl the lace variation is a better choice. The instructions are written for two sizes, a small shawlette and a larger full size shawl. The shawlette uses a single (400 yard) skein of fingering weight yarn. The larger size requires 2 skeins. Want the larger size, but don’t have enough yardage of a single color? Experiment with different combinations and use one color for the main body and another color for the border. Because the center is worked completely in garter stitch it would be appropriate for a variegated yarn paired with a solid for the border. Remember that the listed gauge is given for garter stitch before blocking. The end size and gauge of your finished piece will largely be determined by your blocking style and the fiber content of your yarn. Kite Runner is the third pattern of The Stripes Collection. Please follow this link to find the ebook information. The pattern is also available as a part of a yarn kit at The Fibre Co. Three beautiful hues are woven together using intarsia and a hint of shadow knitting to create this strikingly graphical triangle shawl. It’s an elegant design with a whimsical nod to stunt kites soaring over sand dunes. The detailed instructions are easy to follow, and as the threads are all carried along you’ll have no ends to weave in. This great jacket has a hem lower in the back than the front (a handkerchief hemline) and has long sleeves with thumb-holes. It is not just a shorter version of the Coat of Many Colors. This pattern has “short” tiers due to the scoop hemline so it is a bit more challenging. I have written the instructions with graphics so an intermediate knitter can knit this. Following the “graphics map” makes it clear. Please read the entire pattern before starting. It will give you an overall vision of the project. The yarn “Taiyo” is a blend of cotton, silk and wool which is very breathable in transitional weather. It only takes 5 (5, 6) 6, 7, 7 balls and is a 36 (40, 44) 48, 52, 56 inch chest after wet blocking. Entrelac is easy. If you want a primer in Entrelac without the straight cast on triangles, consider the ABC Entrelac Primer 1 Scarf. If you want a Primer for Entrelac with ALL the edge and partial shapes, consider ABC Entrelac Primer 2 Scarf pattern. Making a smaller item first can get you on the fast track to make the larger Jacket with confidence.Any questions are answered by me immediately. All suggestions are considered.
Thanks for favoriting! :) When I was in college, there was no better treat than escaping after a long day of books, grabbing a sandwich for a makeshift picnic and heading to Walden Pond with friends to see an amazing sunset. The colors stick in your mind forevermore - and the relative calm, compared to regular college life, was an oasis. This color and pattern are a tribute to those times. SUPPLIES 200 grams Island Yarn Rivulet, Siam, Pagoda, Noki or FootFoot in Walden Sunset (sample used Rivulet) - MC 30 grams fingering weight contrast color (sample used Gesa and Flo – black) - CC US 4 (3.5mm) circular needle, 32”- 40” Stitch markers Darning needle for weaving in ends GAUGE 6 sts/inch before blocking, 5.5 sts/inch after blocking Exact gauge is relatively unimportant for this project, just don’t be so far off that you end up much larger or smaller than intended
Cathedral is a delicate architectural wrap worked in two identical pieces that are grafted (joined) in the middle. When designing this piece, I wanted to experiment with Japanese stitch patterns, so I made the gorgeous lace transition into very graphic columns of twisted stitches. For this project I collaborated with Lorna’s Laces to create the perfect color. They have a special project called Color Commentary (launched in 2007) and it’s their way of working alongside designers and other personalities in the industry to create their perfect color. They named the color I used Joji’s Cathedral (which is kind of embarrassing for me to say). It is a beautiful gray with purple undertones and delicate black speckles; it will be dyed in all their bases. The yarn is being shipped to all Lorna’s Laces’ retailers and you will be able to find it in various shops. FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 76” (190 cm) long and 19” (47.5 cm) long MATERIALS Yarn: 3 skeins of Shepherd Sock by Lorna’s Laces (80% Wool /20% Nylon; 435 yards 398 m/100g) or approx. 1100 yards (1010 m) of any fingering weight yarn. The sample was made using colorway Cathedral. Needles: US 6 (4 mm) needles. Other notions: Tapestry needle, blocking pins or wires. GAUGE 17.5 st and 30 rows to 4” (10cm) in stockinette st on US 6 (4 mm) needles after blocking.

Gabriella is a strong yet graceful feminine form of Gabriel. I always think of cables as adding strength and structure to a garment. The way they are used in this pullover they also add graceful lines and curves creating a beautiful feminine sweater. The base cable pattern used is from Norah Gaughan’s Knitted Cable Sourcebook, which has so many wonderful cables! From playing with it I created the beautiful back. I knew this one needed a special yarn so I used Bare Naked Wools Better Breakfast. It is wonderful to work with knits up beautifully. I had so much fun designing this pullover. I hope you have as much fun knitting it! To get a discount for future releases sign up for my newsletter here! This pattern is available through knit companion here. Sizes: Finished bust: 34.25 (37.5, 41, 44, 47, 50.5, 53, 56, 58.75, 62)“. Modeled size is 34.25” with no ease. Materials: Yarn: Bare Naked Wools Better Breakfast Worsted, 65% merino, 35% dehaired alpaca; 225 yds per 115g skein; color: Muesli, 977 (1075, 1182, 1268, 1387, 1558, 1655, 1763, 1883, 1997) yards, 5 (5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9, 9) skeins. Needles: Size 6/4mm 24” (or longer) circular needle and set of 4 or 5 double-pointed needles. Other: Stitch markers, cable needle, stitch holders or waste yarn, tapestry needle. Gauge: 18 sts and 26 rows = 4” in Stockinette Stitch. Notes: This pullover is constructed from the top down in one piece with a raglan yoke and an A-line body. The sleeve length can be easily adjusted. There is a lot going on in the yoke of the pattern. Please read all the notes at each section. Also there are several directions for specific sizes, I recommend highlighting your size. I would also recommend using different color markers for charts and division of stitches. If you change the body shaping you will need a multiple of 3 for the bottom band.
SKEINO’s so very popular Arabella Line has been given another addition with the wonderful Sparkling Swirl Shawl ! Two different yarns of premium quality and super soft texture are being used for this knitting kit. This Swirl Shawl is formed by 12 triangles knitted in Garter Stitch. They are connected through a lacy row. Each new section shifts 12 stitches creating the final zigzag shape. The sparkling yarn provides enough yardage to knit 6 sections, every other one needs to be worked with this yarn. For the remaining 6 sections our wonderful single fine merino Paola Yarn is being used in three different colors. It will be worked 2-stranded and this provides the opportunity to combine the three colors with each other. As a result each of the sections has a spectacular different color. The skeins provide a generous 1200 yards to finish this project. The Sparkling Swirl Shawl comes in one of a kind colorways and we have dyed only a limited number of 42 knitting kits. They will sell out quickly so select your favorite colorway now and don’t miss out on this one. With a finished size of 22 x 70 inches (56 x 178 cm) you can wrap yourself into the shawl to stay warm on a cool day.
If you add 4 of my designs to your cart, the least expensive one will be free ~ enjoy! Pisac is named for a charming town in Peru’s Sacred Valley region, a keepsake of my visit to the artisan market there. This colorful market was overflowing with soft woolens and fascinating textiles, set against a stunning backdrop of terraced mountains, Incan ruins and a brilliant blue sky. I couldn’t resist trying to capture a little of what I saw in this triangular wrap. Pisac is knitted in fingering-weight yarn from the top down. It is a medley of reversible textured stitch patterns that complement one another and are simple to work, finished with a delicate picot edging. Pisac is both entertaining to knit and easy to wear. Keep it handy to warm your shoulders on a summer evening, or to wrap snugly around your neck on a brisk winter day. Feminine and lacy is the essence of the Angel Braids Shawlette. It is a triangular shawlette worked from the top down, with a center cabled panel between two lacey halves. The lace on the halves is a delicate Angel Lace. It is written for sport weight yarn, and I worked it in 2 skeins of Madelinetosh’s Tosh Sport Merino Wool yarn (270 yards per skein) in the Molly Ringwald shade. The border is a combination of knitted eyelets and crocheted scallops. When blocked, my shawlette is 6 foot in length and 25 inches at the center panel. This pattern is best suited for the intermediate to advanced knitter because of the detailed lace and necessary aggressive blocking required. Full written instructions, row counts and charts are included.
On how to spend my time, I pondered away an hour. And having thus spent all my time, I pondered on where went the hour. ERRATA coming June 11, 2019 An error has been discovered. Round 6 should read: Round 6: Ch 1, ESC in each of next 15/15/17 stitches, 3 ESC in next stitch (place movable marker in the middle stitch), 18/18/20 ESC, 3 ESC in next stitch (place movable marker in the middle stitch), 30/30/34 ESC, 3 ESC in next stitch (place movable marker in the middle stitch, 18/18/20 ESC, 3 ESC in next stitch (place movable marker in the middle stitch), 15/15/17 ESC. Slip stitch to beginning ESC. 8 stitches added. Ponder is a basic top down crochet tee/sweater featuring not so basic stitches. The neck and sleeve openings are emphasized by working stitches in the 3rd loop. Back loop only stitches create subtle lines around the yoke. Toss in fake seam lines and extended stitches to complete the body. The stitches go beyond the beginner level, but are approachable by those who are ready to learn new variations of beginner stitch work. Top down construction means that you can try on as you work and customize where needed. It is easy to alter the bust size and hem line by following the “Pause & Ponder” hints provided. NOTE: additional yardage is required to significantly increase bust or lengthen sleeves or body.

This pattern includes all 4 versions. I started this design on our visit to Seattle to visit our youngest son and explore the Pacific Northwest. I fell in love with so many things--the tall trees, the ocean, the Asian food and the Elysian Brewery! This is an easy pattern to knit while you are doing other things, talking with your knitting friends, watching a great tv show, or sipping pumpkin beer! The reason for 4 variations is to accommodate whatever amount of yarn you have or want to use. The Immortal just uses one colorway. Space Dust uses two. Night Owl and Dark O’ the Moon uses 5 colors--a gradient set or knitter’s choice. The difference is Night Owl used the same amount of each color. Dark O’ the Moon used amounts I chose. You truly can use as many colors and amounts that you like. Of course, if you want a larger shawl, just keep knitting! Some projects and some beers are just too good to put down too soon! The two color version was inspired by needing more yarn than in my one skein. I chose a similar color and added chunks of it. But, you can add as much contrast as you prefer. The 5-color version was knit with a beautiful gradient set. It could also be fun with partial skeins in your stash. The size of color stripes can be adjusted to the amounts of your yarns. And, you can add additional colors if you like, or if you want a larger shawl. The pattern was test knit and tech edited. It contains 4 separate design plans and provides the number of garter ridges of each color. ERRATA: THE MEASUREMENTS ARE: 82-88” ALONG THE INCREASE EDGE. 52-59” ALONG THE DECREASE (K2TOG) EDGE. 38-40” ALONG THE BO EDGE.

If you purchase 5 patterns from my Ravelry Store at the same time (add them all to your cart before you check out), the least expensive one will be free. Every knitter has their cryptonite — like an addictive stitch or irresistible yarn that becomes an obsession. This generously sized triangle shawl combines some of my favorite infatuations: thin stripes, funky lace, and crazily contrasting blocks of color. The sideways construction creates an asymmetrical “spine” throughout the shawl, and the combination of textures and colors will make your knees weak! Of course, the only way to save yourself is to cast on immediately! Yardage 1 skein in „Graphite“ (color A), 87 g / 381 yds [348 m] used for sample 1 skein in „Jersey“ (color B), 68 g / 298 yds [272 m] used for sample 1 skein in „Electric Dreams“ (color C), 82 g / 359 yds [328 m] used for sample Note: To ensure you have enough yarn to finish the shawl, make a gauge swatch! If you do run short, that’ll probably be with color A - in that case, you can simply knit the last few stripes in another color. Pattern has been tech edited and test knitted. Do you like my designs and want to join me on the journey? You’ll find a Ravelry group for discussing my patterns, for test knits and KALs here.

I’ve been lucky enough to land the best side gig ever, working one day a week at a newly opened LYS in my town. I’m sure this is a fantasy many of us share; I match knitters to projects all day and then go home with an armful of yarn! I’ve discovered that many knitters want a simple yet stylish project. Many learned to knit years ago and are coming back to the craft or are just starting off as newbies. But most clients want a lovely finished object that doesn’t require heavy concentration. This Easiest LYS shawl fulfills that wish. You can use fingering or worsted, a gradient or a speckle. Find a yarn that speaks to you and cast on! You only need to know the knit stitch and how to increase and decrease. And if by the end you get ambitious, you can throw in a picot bind off. If not, just go with the straight bind off! Please go to your local yarn store to purchase yarn for this project. They are happy to help you up your knitting game. Or come to Pick Up Every Stitch, a wonderful yarn community in Mt. Kisco NY. We would love to match your skill and interests to a project. Want more? The possibilities are endless with this little cardi! I have been wanting to design a pattern for those amazing gradient sets that dyers are offering lately… But while working on it I realized it would look amazing using any color combination for the collar: Stripes, variegated coordinating colorways, gradients, neon! PATTERN NOTES This tee is worked seamlessly from the top down. When working the Yoke, when there are too many stitches to fit comfortably on the shorter circular needle, switch to the longer needle. The Yoke pattern is both written and charted. By popular demand, the Berry Blossom Tee previously published in the Bamboo Pop Kids ebook has been reimagined in this adult sized piece. Though the sample is knit in Radiant Cotton, Bamboo Pop would make a great substitute.
If you purchase 5 of my self-published designs at the same time (they need to be in the same cart), you will get the least expensive for free! A while ago I was asked by the lovely team of The Yarn Collective to create something pretty with one of their yarns. I was more than thrilled to learn one of the yarns was curated by my dear friend Melanie Berg. A couple of days later I received a box of neutrals and grays to play with, I picked three and did what I like best - made a shawl. Portland Lace is truly beautiful, soft and the finished fabric is drapey and showcases the stitch patterns very well. “Why Logan?”, you might ask. This is what happens when binge watch “Gilmore Girls” while knitting that Garter ;) Though I have to confess, I’m still not sure if I’m Team Jess or Team Logan ;) This design has been created in collaboration with The Yarn Collective. If you’d like to see their yarns head over here. This simple but stylish shawl is engaging and rhythmic to knit, and easy and fun to wear. Most of the body is worked in striped Garter stitch, interrupted by faux rib stripes. One section of simple lace engages the mind and draws the eye. Size One: approx. 195cm/76.75” wide and 80 cm/31.5” long to bottom point. Yarn 3 skeins of Portland Lace by The Yarn Collective (100% merino; 860m/980y per 100g). Shown in colorways: CC1 – 203 Peruvian Skies, CC2 – 201 Sheepish, CC3 – 205 Washed Denim, 1 skein each. The yarn is held double throughout. Needles 3.5 mm/US #4 circular needle (80 cm/32” long). 3.25 mm/US #3 circular needle (80 cm/32” long). Other tapestry needle for weaving. Gauge 22 sts and 44 rows = 10 cm/4” in Garter st measured flat after wet blocking. The gauge isn’t crucial on this project, but differences will affect the finished size as well as the required yardage.
This lacy, beaded shawl is knit with Menta, an amazingly soft yarn you won’t want to put down. Though made 100% from peppermint, this sustainable, vegan yarn is scentless and drapes beautifully. Yarn available here: https://izzyknits.com/collections/yarn-1/products/menta-p... The shawl is knit on the bias starting with 3 stitches, gradually increasing to its full length. The beads, which provide just the right amount of sparkle, are pre-strung before each color change. You will need 543 beads, size 6/0 (or whatever size fits on the yarn you choose!) Finished measurements: approx. width: 125 cm/49”, approx. height: 45 cm/18”

Ripley Shawl Part 3 Tutorial Video (right and left-handed): https://www.mooglyblog.com/ripley-shawl-part-3-tutorial/ While I’ve designed the Ripley Shawl so that it only uses one cake, you can easily make it bigger in parts two and three – so buy a second skein of It’s A Wrap Sprinkles if you like your shawls larger! As written, it’s 44” wide at top and 24” at the center point. So you can use those measurements to determine if you’d like to add a second cake!
