Acanthe, un motif ornemental De tous les motifs ornementaux «empruntés» à la nature, la feuille d’acanthe est le plus populaire. Depuis son introduction par les Grecs, cet ornement se reproduit dans toutes les périodes de style occidentaux. Acanthus Mollis Toute signification symbolique ou sacrée, n’a jamais été prouvée ou de démontrée. Mais la fréquence et la variété des applications sont illimitées dans la décoration des bâtiments, des intérieurs et des meubles. Ornement de feuilles d'acanthe baroque Cette plante pousse de façon sauvage dans le sud de l'Europe, il existe de nombreuses variantés, Acanthus mollis, Acanthus spinosus, ... L'apparence, les nervures, la forme de la feuille sont toujours différentes à chaque période de style. La forme grecque de l'acanthe a des feuilles aux extrémités pointues; à l'époque romaine, les extrémités deviennent plus rondes et plus larges, parfois elles sont de puissantes et énergiques formes courbées. Construction d'une feuille d'acanthe (partiellement) LA FEUILLE D'ACANTHE La période byzantine et romane retournèrent aux formes originales et fondamentales de l'ornement, des formes moins délicates. Le style gothique primitif associe la feuille d'acanthe avec des plantes locales. Plus tard les formes sont étirées même bizarres. This is an excellent vintage French filigree ornament montage in a harvest theme (evident by pumpkins at the bottom, and farmhouse scene framed in toward the top middle of the piece), originally used in printing during the 1800s for advertisements, brochures, tradesman's cards, etc... I was fortunate enough to come across this during a trip to France back in 2014. It dates to the late 1800s.
