Hello my dear friends, today I am sharing my last two creations that I have made from my last week Sunday's treasures. For those that haven't read yesterdays post, todays creations are a part of a set of little salt and pepper shakers. And this is what I have made from the tops of the two little shakers ... ... I turned them into lovely tassels. One looking very vintage with all different types of ribbons, silks and laces and as the little special touch a vintage piece of sparkle ... Yes, .. I did get photo bombed again! Seems to be the thing these days. ...and the other one ... ... all wintry and glistening, again with lots of different laces, ribbons and yarns. The special touch for this creation is a large snowflake embedded with Swarovski crystals. Both of these creations beautiful in their own special little way. It is amazing what you can create from something little ~ you just have to let you mind wander off into the land of creativeness and let it fly. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit me again here at Todolwen ~ it means so much to me. I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind. Have a peaceful and creative day.
Hello my dear friends, do some of you remember my little violet nests that I made some time ago? Back then I was inspired by a scarf I had seen on Pinterest. Recently I was inspired by the nests I made and the colors I used. And that is what I am sharing with you today, my newest creations which are a few of my newest pincushions. I chose some neat pieces again for the bases. For the one I chose a little art nouveau vase and for the other a little old tarnished teastrainer. Along with hand dyed seam binding and sari silk ribbon, pieces from wool sweater (also hand dyed) and vintage bits of sparkle, both pincushions have turned out rather deliteful in my eyes but see for youselves ... This is my "Pretty in Lavender" pincushion ... ... and my "Lavender Tea Time" pincushion ... Oh, I do like how they have turned! I think I just might have to make something else using these colors again. These shades of purple and green just go so well together! They are so pleasent to look at and so pretty overall, don't you agree? So, that is all for today again but I am hoping to be back very soon with more to share. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have enjoyed your short visit today and what I have shared with you. I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind. Have a peaceful, safe and creative day.

Hello my dear friends, I was very fortunate to have found another pewter tulip on one of my outings a few weeks ago and today I am sharing my finished creation with you. Just like my first tulip, this one too has become a pincushion. This time I used a dusty rose pink velvet for the pincushion part itself and a crinkled seam binding bow with a vintage piece of sparkle as embellishments. It is very subtle and lovely looking in all it's prettiness. What do you think? I named it 'A Dusty Rose Tulip'. (Sold ~ thank you!) This pincushion is now listed for sale in my Etsy shop if any of you lovely bloggers should be interested in it. With this creation now done and I am already working on something new and am hoping to be able to share it with all you lovely bloggers very soon. Thank you for taking the time to visit me today, here at Todolwen. It is always so nice when you do. I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind. Have a peaceful and creative day.

Hello my dear friends, I have been busy these past few very warm days and today I am going to share with you where my seam binding roses 'grow'. Normally my first choice of fabric would always be drop cloth but this time it wasn't. I had bought some lovely thick woven cotton fabric in a ever so slight off-white a few weeks ago and really wanted to use it and that's where my seam binding roses came to mind. The pretty part of making something was solved, it was the practical part I needed to think about and luckily that turned out to be easier than I thought. I thought of something I had made before but then I used different bits and pieces for it. I decided to recreate this piece with a whole new look and I am happy to say that it turned out quite nicely. My newest creation is now done and I am so happy to share it with you today. A little something I am proud of ... as so many times before, this creation is completely hand sewn, no sewing machine in sight anywhere. And this is it, my newest needle book ... ... 'Old Cottage Roses' This needle book is a bit thicker than the ones I have made before. That's because I have added a layer for cotton batting to the inside of the book ... ... and to give it that extra little touch, I have quilted everything. Each rose is made from over a yard of seam binding. The color I used for this creation is called ... croquette beige. It actually has a subtle yellow/gold look to it and such a lovely one too. I just love how the roses 'grow' on the fabric and stand out so much. I must say, that I do like my newest creation a lot. So much so, that I think I will have to see in which other colors I can make a few more roses grow. Thank you for taking the time to visit me today here at Todolwen and I hope you come back some time again. I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind. Have a peaceful and creative day.

Hello my dear friends, my newest pincushion is done and I couldn't be happier with it. It is simple but sweet, just perfect in my eyes with it's wintry warm feel. I was actually inspired by one of my own pincushions that I made last year. It was this pincushion that inspired me ... And this is my newest pincushion! This time I used a beautiful antique pocket watch casing as the base and the same sweater as the pincushion. The pinecones and the yarn were a must again well. It's almost like I created a little sister for my last one and I love that it turned out the way it did. Just lovely. Not too little and not too much, just right. This pincushion is now listed for sale in my Etsy shop. I am already searching through boxes and baskets for some new supplies to create my next pincushion and I can't tell you how happy that makes me feel. Being creative is to me is like warm hugs, snowflakes fall, birds singing, flowers growing in Spring or my family ... something I need in my life. I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind. Have a peaceful, safe and creative day.
Hello my dear friends, a little while ago, I was sitting and chatting with one of our neighbours one morning when she mentioned how much she loves lavender sachets but wasn't able to find any in the stores these days. Needless to say that my creative streak kicked in right away and in my head I was thinking of how I could make this lovely lady a few of the lovely smelling sachets. I still had some of the lavender left over from my daughter's wedding and it still had the full beautiful scent of the pretty tiny purple flowers. My search continued to find something to put the lavender in and then I found these ... ... little muslin bags ... ... with drawstrings in one of my storage boxes. I had bought these little fabric 'bags' at Michaels at least a year ago and never got to use them, that is until now and since I am more than one lovely neighbour living around me, I made three sets of lavender sachets. One set for each of them. I tried to pick colors that were perfect for each of my neighbours and after gifting them with their little smelling sachets, I now know that I choose wisely. And here are my little sachets ... ... each one embellished with one of my seam binding roses and a few of my sari silk leaves. The first color of seam binding I used is called ... ...'Violet'. The next color I chose was ... ... 'Bark Tan'. And the final color is called ... ... 'Rose Beige'. Don't they all just look so lovely? I am really happy that I decided to do this because I love creating things and I also love putting a little smile on some one's face ... it makes my heart smile! It is so nice that you took the time to stop by and visit me today, here at Todolwen. I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind. Have a peaceful and creative day.
Helllllllllo to you! I am excited today because I get to share a little tutorial , my first for Reasonable Ribbon. I decided to keep things simple here and show you (with many pics) how to create your own rolled shabby bloom. Now many of you may be familiar with how to do these. I am always late to the party but humor me, ok? LOL! I decided to use some of the burlap ribbon in teal. This stuff is great..first it has wire in it and is very forgiving ..and secondly it is just plain gorgeous. I love burlap of any kind..and this is so cool because it has gorgoeus ticking style stripes through it. The other thing main goody I used were the Middy biddy polka dot Kraft bags. Great bags to use to put yummy treats in or create tags like I did to tuck inside. I started by tying a simple knot in the end of the ribbon...leaving just a snip of it at the end. This makes for a place to hold on to and the base of the actual bloom. Start wrapping the ribbon around the knot and than alternating every so often by twisting the ribbon in a 360. Every so often use some hot glue to keep the ribbon in place. This ribbon is very easy to manipulate so just have fun with it. Just keep repeating the steps till the bloom becomes the size you want. You can create small ones or larger ones. Mine is medium because I decided to add texture to mine by adding some vintage hankie fabric and a crochet doily. As you can see from the pics I simply just layered each piece on top of eachother.....using hot glue. I attached my bloom to my bag and than added all the fun toppings! I had to use some lace and used both the Allison lace and the Penelope lace combining both together. I topped it off with some of the new two tone texture ribbon from May Arts . I used some of the same ribbons on my tags and also used some of the sweet jute in blue that I tied onto the tags and in my buttons. I tucked my tags into the bag..leaving some room for a sweet treat and I was done! Hope you have enjoyed ...and uhhh hope I made sense. Don't look to close at my nails....I am not a manicure chick...at all...I would rather spend my mad money on paper! Hugs, cherry

Hello my dear friends, Happy Spook Night! Before I share my newest creation I just wanted to say that it almost didn't happen. I had started off with a neat idea but whilst working on it I spent quite some time looking at it again and again and every time I looked at it, a little voice in my head said "Nope, not you." Thankfully I didn't give in to that voice and I am buzzed to finally share my one and only Halloween pumpkin for this year with all of you ghosts, ghouls and witches and that on the spookiest night of the year. Remember that things didn't go well when it came to dying the fabric but I made do with what I had. Together with the purple seam binding, black velvet leaves (sorry, not photos of when I made them), the beautiful old tarnished fork and my little jingle bell spider (which I named Cobweb) this creation has now "come to life" and I am lovin' it! I called it ... "Cobweb's Home" And this is it! I am happy that I went with everything I thought of using instead of only some of it. That has made this spooky creation perfect in my eyes. (I am sorry that some of the pictures are a little blurry. It is either my eyes or the camera lens, not sure which one just yet) I hope that you like my spooktacular creation as much as I, in the end, have enjoyed making it. Enjoy the rest of your spook night and Happy Halloween to all of you. I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind. Have a frightful night.

Hello my dear friends, I knew that I couldn't stay away from my much loved drop cloth for too long, there is just something so special about it. I love the fact that something like plain drop cloth can be turned in something very pretty. When I thought of my latest creation a few days ago. I just couldn't resist making more of my seam binding roses. Seriously, they are such a joy to make and I have to say it again, ... if you haven't ever made them, you should really try it least once. This time I made a little something pretty that can hang on the wall. I don't think, I have ever made a little wall hanging piece before or at least I can't remember if I have or not. As many of times before, my creations start on a scrap of paper ... ... and sooner or later they go from being a drawing on paper to becoming the actual creation. Just like my newest one that I am sharing with you today. I named it ... ...' Drop Cloth And Roses', ... these are a few of my favorite things. It makes me think of July Andrews singing 'Raindrops on Roses' and I am humming the melody as I am writing this and even though it is a very simple name and an obvious one too, I think the name is beyond perfect for this creation. At first I wasn't very happy with it once it was done and I just couldn't put my finger on it, why that was how I felt about it but after a little while of sitting back and looking at it, I knew what was bothering me. I changed it (it was something not even worth mentioning really) and now I love it! The roses in this creation are made from my favorite colored seam binding. I like it so much because it is almost the same shade of color as the drop cloth. The name of this seam binding is ' Coconut' if any of you might like to know. Each rose is made from over a yard of the seam binding and five little glass beads live in each rose's midst. An antique little clip was the perfect piece to use one this creation ( I think this one came from France ) ... ... and of course some crinkled seam binding was a must. I also did a little bit of quilting to give this little heart that little something extra and it really does make it look so much nicer. Another one of my favorites is sari silk ribbon, I just love to work with it and I really like the color that I have chosen for the leaves. The color is actually called ... 'Rose Leaves' ... it just couldn't get better really! I hope you have enjoyed my newest creation. I for sure have enjoyed making it and because I did, I am already working on the next one. I decided to make one more needle book with same look as this little hanging heart. It is almost finished and I will be sharing it with all you Lovelies very soon. Thank you for taking the time to visit me today, here at Todolwen. It is always so nice when you do and I hope you will come back soon again. I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind. Have a peaceful and creative day.
