It was originally created as an invitation to a home-brew party at our house. I was still learning how the Craft Robo worked and, consequently, I think it's not an exaggeration to say that I spent more than 50 or 60 hours toiling over the thing, tweaking it til I thought it was perfect. In the end, I was so pleased with how it turned out that I probably invited dozens of people extra than we normally would have to a casual summer event (resulting in an enormous crush -- great fun, but a bit crowded). While the mechanism that it uses (a simple brad) is widely used, I've never seen it used in this kind of way, to lift an arm and, at the same time, change the text spoken in a speech bubble. I adapted the basic invitation into a happy birthday card. What I've never understood is how poorly it has sold on etsy. It's only in the last few weeks that I even sold a single one (now I've sold THREE! And gotten some good feedback: "Quality workmanship and adorable." and "Very good birthday card for guys"). Anyway, I wondered if the problem was the photos, so yesterday, Tad helped me take cleaner ones, in the light tent, with a white background (maybe the greenery that I had as a background made it difficult to tell what was going on?). I also will link to the video from the etsy listing so that people can see how it works. Hopefully that will help!
This listing is for the 5 pictured sympathy cards and 5 white envelopes. Card Size: Standard A2; 4.25" x 5.5." Card Base: White Neenah 110 lb. Cardstock. I used a paper trimmer, scoring board and bone folder to create each folded card base. They are adhered with thin foam dimensionals. Inside: Blank; white cardstock base. The back of the cards are blank. Cards/envelopes will come enclosed in a clear protective cello sleeve.

Hi Crafty Friends, Welcome to our June Karen Burniston Designer Challenge. Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all. Our challenge theme this month is ... "MINI SLIMLINE" - create a card in a mini-slimline size of 3.5" x 6". Being a lover of Slimline and Mini Slimline cards, this challenge was right up my alley! Of course being a Karen Burniston challenge, I wanted to include some form of pop-up inside of the card. Many of Karen's dies will work inside of a Mini Slimline. Until recently one thing that wouldn't work was the ball dies, specifically the Surprise and Bitty Ball dies. However with the release of the Mini Ball last month we can now include those in slimline cards if you wish. I turned the mini ball into a birthday cake, at 3 1/2 inches wide you need to be careful what "extra" pieces you add to then mini ball for it to fit inside the card. I was able to do a monkey last month inside a 4 inch slimline card. For the layers of my card, both on the inside and front I used the new Short Rectangles - Crosshatch die set, using the largest rectangle included in the set to die cut my panels. I also used the Long Flap and Closure die set to create the flap to my card which helps to keep the card closed. To decorate my "cake" I added a ribbon trim using one of the border dies included in the Border Blends Trims die set. The candle and presents are all from the Big Birthday Charms die set. On the back panel I added the birthday sentiment using the Happy Birthday & Happy Birthday Shadow die sets. The Happy Birthday was die cut using pink glitter paper. To decorate the front of the card, I added four presents using dies from the Big Birthday Charms die set. I also used the Mini Alphabet die set to create the HB2U on the flap.

Hi everyone! Gee Wiz! It has been a very long time since I've posted on my blog. Time goes by so quickly. Today I made a card for a challenge set by my friend Kylie Bertucci, based on her husband Bruno's Scrappy Strip Technique. Here is my card I created. I am so happy with how it turned out! In making the strips for this technique, I have actually made 6 card fronts which I'll be turning into cards very soon. Firstly, I stamped a different leaf image on a different coloured cardstock (I did 5 different stamps and colours) with versa mark ink and clear embossed them using clear embossing powder and my heat tool. I used 5 x 14.9cm x 10.5cm pieces of cardstock (half an A4). Then I cut each panel into strips and arranged the strips on a blank piece of Whisper White cardstock, which measures 14.4cm x 10cm. Bruno has a video that he shows this technique in action. I'll link that HERE. I ended up trimming that down to 13.9cm x 9.5cm and matted that on another piece of whisper white 14.9cm x 10cm. This then was adhered onto a top folding card base. To finish my card, I cut some leaves from the co-ordinating die set in vellum cardstock and tucked them behind my sentiment. The sentiment was then stamped and die cut from the Stitched Shapes die set. I used a few basic rhinestones to bling it up a bit. Supplies: Stamps: Forever Fern, Peaceful Moments Dies: Forever Flourishing, Stitched Shapes Cardstock: Whisper White, Just Jade, Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green, Granny Apple Green, Shaded Spruce, Vellum Ink: Versamark, Memento Black ink Other Basics: Adhesive (I used Tombo liquid glue and Tear n tape), Paper trimmer, Paper snips, Die cutting machine, Heat tool and Basic rhinestones. If you don't have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and would like to purchase any of the above supplies, please contact me and I'd be happy to help you! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to leave me a comment! Til next time, Nicole.

Hello and Welcome! It's Designer Challenge time once again and this months theme is Wedding or Baby! For my card, I used the Surprise Cube Pop-Up to create baby blocks. For this card, I started with a card base of 5 x 10 3/4. I created a 1/4 in folding point in the center to make room for the blocks. I added the flap using the Flap & Closure die set and made the "buttons" on the flap and front along with bakers twine to create a closure for the card. I added patterned paper I had from a baby themed patterned paper pack. For the blocks, I used 80lb smooth white cardstock and added blue and white to each block. I used the Alphabet dies to cut out the word baby in a sparkly blue cardstock. I also added some baby themed die cuts to the other sides of the blocks using the Baby Charms die set. I had a star shaped die set and cut several different sizes of stars out in different colors of blue cardstock that I had in my scraps. I die cut one big star and used Honey Bee Stamps Inside: Welcome Baby Sentiments to create the sentiment on the large star. Then I used Distress Ink in Peacock Blue to add some color to the edges of the star. I tried to keep the background and the front of the card simple, because the pop-up blocks are really the center focal point in this card. I double checked twice the positioning of the blocks before gluing them into the card base, ensuring that they would fit perfectly. For the front of the card, I kept it simple, using the Rectangles - Crosshatch to created squares and Lawn Fawn's Little Bundle stamp set to create the baby images and sentiment. Thank you so much for stopping by and Happy Crafting
These beautiful cards were created with the Earthen Textures stamp set & Dies as well as the Darling Details stamp set.
Hi Crafty Friends, Welcome to our January Karen Burniston Designer Challenge. Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all. Our challenge theme this month is ... "RUBBER BAND POP-UPS" - use any of the pop-up dies that require a rubber band for a card or project of any theme. (Ball dies, Surprise Cube, Bam Box) Here is a quick video to see my card in action. As you can see by the photo above, I decided to create a pop-up card using the Surprise Cube Pop-up die set for the pop up. I created three of the surprise cubes and decorated each of the cubes using charms from the Dolled Up Charms die set. I created a top folding card that measures 5 3/4 inches x 5 1/2 inches, adding a 1/4 inch gusset in the middle. I adhered the surprise cubes to the base of my card, the two bottom cubes fold towards the back while the top cube folds to the front. For the decorative flap, I used the Long Flap and Closure die set, adding two thin magnets in between the layers to allow for closure. For the sentiment at the back panel of the card I used the Happy Birthday and Happy Birthday Shadow die sets. I kept the front of the card fairly simple seeing the focus is on the inside of the card. I used the Ovals - Crosshatch die set for my oval layers. I then added the purse from the Purse Pop-up die set and some more of the charms from the Dolled Up die set adding them to the oval. I then added the "Love You" sentiment using the sentiment from the Pop 'n Swap die set.

Do you know, I have had the Daisy Punch for two years now, but never bought the stamp set that went with it? Well, I was pretty chuffed to get the ALL NEW coordinating set, Daisy Lane, in my bag at OnStage. And I was even more chuffed to find out that with the new catalogue there will be a Medium Daisy Punch as well, which also coordinates with Daisy Lane, so we will be able to make multi-layered flowers, as well as varying the sizes. Woohoo! My one concern is my eyesight, because every time I look at the card below it takes me a moment to realise that it doesn't actually say "Fiend"...! Oh, and aren't the new fluffy little centres amazing? They look so realistic. Right, off to talk to my bank manager about how I'm going to fund my next order... 😂
Hallo allemaal, Ik heb mezelf eens uitgedaagd om een kaart te maken, die al heel lang op mij to do lijstje stond. Het kostte even wat tijd ...
Hello and Welcome! Todays card was made for a very special kid. My best friends Daughter who just recently turned 11. She loves Lilo and Stitch and so when my bestie asked for a card to give her daughter, the first thing I thought of was a pop-up Stitch! I started with the Bitty Ball Pop-Up. I had some scrap cardstock that looked close to the color of Stitch. I luckily had just enough to make him. I cut out the belly pieces with a lighter cardstock and added a bit of "fur" the edges of his belly. I created the ears by hand, adding a small tab at the base so I could fasten them to the head. I also created the nose and colored in the black nostrils using a Copic marker. I cut two pieces and drew out the eye shape and cut them out with my scissors. Then I cut out two black circles to create the pupils. I used the die that comes with the Bitty Ball to create the arms. I used the small flower die that comes with the Label Charms Pop-Up and with a dark blue cardstock cut out the petals. I turned them around and used them to create the little nails on Stitches hands. I created his little feet and used foam squares to hold them to his body. I tried having them stick out but it didn't look right. I added his little tuft of hair on top, adding a fold line so it would flatten along with the pop-up. For the card base, I made a 5x5 sized card using heavy weight white cardstock. I added a sky background with ocean waves from Karen Burniston's Tropical Scene and the Palm Trees from the new release coming out February 20th! I die cut the "Make a Wish" sentiment from Word Set 2 - Birthday Die Set from red cardstock and added it to the base of the card. How stinking adorable is Stitch! I can't wait to see how the birthday girl likes her card! Thank you so much for stopping by and Happy Crafting!
