FRY SIXTH HUNDRED INSTANT WORDS HIGH-FREQUENCY WORD PROGRESS MONITORING, DATA TRACKING, & TARGETED INTERVENTION IN ONE! Do you need a teacher and student-friendly sight word tracking and assessment system to progress monitor your second, third grade, and at-risk students’ Fry High-Frequency words? Look no further than this digital assessment tool in Google Sheets™! Streamline your special education classroom with an easy and efficient way to analyze student sight word data and monitor progress on individualized education program (IEP) goals. It is important for students to instantly recognize these words as they progress through first grade and beyond. Even if you are not explicitly teaching the Fry Instant Words, an improvement in the students’ ability to orthographically map these words should be evident throughout the school year. Progress monitoring, data tracking, and targeted intervention in one! How they work: Make a digital copy of the Google Sheet™ for each student! Enter the student's name, initial score, and goal to generate a graph with a baseline. Check the missed words on the assessor probe to automatically calculate words read correctly. Missed words copy to the error box on each probe and to the individual student data sheet. The first 10 missed words automatically generate one printable sheet of practice cards for targeted intervention. Please see directions included in the preview for a full explanation of the process. What is included in the zip file: A PDF with force copy links to the Google Sheet™ Assessor Probes, Data Tracking, and Graph. A PowerPoint and PDF (printable) version of the student probes. Sample Goals: The student will demonstrate an improvement in their ability to recall the most common regular and irregularly spelled words as measured by a curriculum-based measurement in high-frequency word recall from a baseline score of 23% correct to a goal score of 95% correct by June 6, 2022. When given a curriculum-based measurement depicting 100 regular and irregularly spelled words, the student will read the words with 98% accuracy in 4 out of 5 trials. Reading fluency is essential to overall reading proficiency; however, it does not always come naturally to students. For those students, there are many interventions and research-based activities that can implemented to improve fluency skills. An effective fluency intervention to use with your disfluent students is something called 'Cold Reads' and 'Hot Reads.' This quick and easy to implement intervention can be used to improve fluency, but also to monitor progress with specific fluency skills. Tips and tricks for putting together a progress monitoring bin so all your materials are together in one place!
Hey hey! Do you remember being in college and taking a test wishing, if I just had extra time I could really learn this in detail and get a good grade? That is how children feel. I am the first to say and admit that I move in math class at the rate of a racehorse. Do I like it? Not at all. Do I have to? YES. With all of the math standards that we have to teach, our year at a glance is packed with math standards. Maybe our kids don’t understand the material right after we teach the standard. However, should we forget about their data just because we have to move on to the next? After I give the kids an assessment, I grab one of my re-teach half sheets and write down any scores less than an A. I paperclip the assignments to the back of the half sheet so I know that I need to re-assess those people. After I record their scores, I reprint a paper (for each kid) that I can use for a small group, and the assessment again. When I have extra time (I know who has extra time), I pull a […]
