The Pink Moment.
The vulnerable expressions of Annie Montgomerie’s figures give them a surreal quality, each a product of recycled material. The U.K.-based mixed-media artist has built a following with her often-whimsical animal-human hybrids, often emphasizing the latter part of the equation in their essence. Each of these works are one-of-kind, the artist says.

Did you see the amazing little wool dog sculptures by Domenica More Gordon on Man Shops Globe tonight? So darling. I would love one, probably not a frilly girl dog, I'd go for a lab gentleman or something like that. These are so small, but so charming they are irrisistible. In tonight's episode they auctioned for 6,500 to 9,000 dollars a piece! I can only imagine the amount of talent, time and creativity that is required to make each one of these amazing, full of personality sculptures from tiny bits of felted wool. Applause for an amazing and generous artist! photo 1 via photo 2 via

. The windows of 10 Avenue George V, BALENCIAGA ,were for many seasons, graced with the fantastic sculptures by Janine Janet made just for Balenciaga. Balenciaga let Janine Janet have free reign to her fantasies-only stipulating that the windows never appear commercial. Within the three windows, perfumes or other hints of Balenciaga were discreetly placed by Janet. The effect of the windows was to suggest the art of the couturier not the production of-just imagine. The success of the windows was evident in their longevity. Many of Janet's works would stay in place for a year or more. Her first windows in 1952 were representations of Air, Earth and Water. She employed feathers, arrows, sculpted birds, sheaves of wheat, straw hats and flowers eluding to the elaborate work of the famous silk weavers of the 18th century. She continued to work with Balenciaga for years. Her work can also be seen in Cocteau's. Le Testament d' Orphée, LA REINE by Janine Janet- made of wood and nails, with the nails creating the entirety of detailing in the sculpture. image from BALENCIAGA PARIS In 1959, La Reine-the Queen, Le Roi-the King and Le Valet-the knave- were commissioned by Balenciaga for his windows. LE ROI and LE VALET from here One couldn't help see these Janet sculptures and not think of this 1949 Balenciaga gown. There was a constant play between the couturier and the sculptor. image from BALENCIAGA, by Lesley Ellis Miller Janet's La Reine at Balenciaga Balenciaga window-1962. I tried something new today have you seen my old tried and true photo transfer technique that I use on watercolor paper? (click here for the tutorial) well, I thought it might work on some of my beach glass it actually works better on beach glass than it does on paper the two pieces pictured below are from my outing on the trail a couple of days ago: here you can see how different they all look depending on the thickness of the glass: the pieces I chose were pretty clear - the roughest one being the one on the far right the glass was very weathered and gives the image a foggy look to it but if you flip it over it's really quite visible: I am so pleased with these results! I will definitely be making lots more of these!
