I took these pictures from the slipway at Watertown, Appledore, North Devon on a clear evening. The exception is the church at Northam silhouetted against the sky. Watertown is a hamlet between the seaside villages of Westward Ho! and Appledore. It still has cottages dating back centuries. There was a ship builders there but that has long closed, its slipway now rotting away. Watertown gives good access to the Northam Burrows and a bay proving home to thousands of winter migrant birds. The South West Coastal path runs along the seafront here. Im sure a a smuggler or two has seen similar views of the coast at full moon.

Once upon a time we lived near a hill that gave us a wonderful view of the night sky. We had only to walk out the door and a few steps then up the hillside. With our telescope we could spend hours searching the night sky for our favorite constellations. The most brilliant stars would take our breath away. Even in the colder winter months we were drawn to that hillside.
