This STEM lesson Includes an Aeronautics & Aerodynamics Justpardy Review Game PowerPoint PowerPoint. Justpardy has a similar concept to the game seen on TV. Game Play Suggestion Set up tables in front of the classroom, 1 table per team. Divide the class up into 3-5 team, depending on class size. Have each student taking a turn coming up that teams table at the front of the class. Rotate, so each team gets to pick the Answer on the screen. Each team representative in the front of the class writes down their answer. For each correct answer the team gets a point. The team with the most points when the game ends wins. I found that doing the game this way, each and every student participates. This prevents that one student from dominating the game. This is a fun way to review for a test. The PowerPoint is fully editable. This will allow you to modify the lesson to your individual classroom needs. It includes manufacturing problems and design problems. The video is approximately 50 minutes long. “It gives in-depth information regarding the plane's construction and production of every segment that was put together and imported from every part of the world. It was a breathtaking transition from the normal A320 to the massive A380 airbus. The technicians and engineers worked day and night to put the entire plane together and watched it take to the sky.” This video is available on YouTube for free. The link is included with the download. Several years ago I stopped using accompanying worksheets to videos I show in class. Too many times students are more focused in answering the questions, rather than absorbing what they are watching. But, I wanted the students to be actively engaged with the video. So, I started using “Video Reflections”. The video reflection handout has two columns on it. Student write what they have learned on the column on the left. They write down any questions they have on the column to the right. At the end of class, each student needs to tell the teacher something they learned, or a question they have. When given a choice, most students would rather have this type of assignment, compared to a worksheet. Aerial Firefighting Poster Activity Students are tasked with creating a Firefighting Poster. The purpose of this is to show them how aircraft can be used to fight fires. Included with this product: Activity assignment: With objectives identified. Self-assessment. Aerial Firefighting Information Handout: Lists all the information they need to complete the assignment. There are many images on the handout for them to cut-and-paste onto their poster. Teacher’s copy of Aerial Firefighting Information Handout: This has highlighted information listed to aid teacher in grading the poster. Class time needed: One period, depending on the students. Military Aircraft Poster Activity Objectives: Students will explore military aircraft: their missions, features, background and general characteristics. Instructions: Using the handout about their assigned military aircraft, students construct a poster that shows the mission, features, background and general characteristics of your assigned aircraft. There is a RUBRIC detailing the information required for the poster. The STEM Paper Helicopters Gravity Buster Activity investigates how the Force of Lift can counteract the Force of Gravity. The activity gives step-by-step directions for the students to construct their own Paper Helicopter. They then do a series of experiments, along with their teammates, to see how adding staples to their Paper Helicopter effects its lift. There are four conclusion questions the students need to answer. There are also two included graphs that need to be completed. The activity should take one class period. The activity works well as part of an aerodynamics class, physics class, or even as a first day of class group activity. Buyer's Comments: "fun activity, everything you need to just print and go" Leah G. "Used this as a lab in my intro STEM class. Students really enjoyed making the helicopters and were able to understand basic motion principles as well as aerodynamics as a result." The Aviation Aeronautical Charts Aircraft Packet includes a PowerPoint with embedded video clip links, illustrated Student Guided Scaffolded Notes, Teacher Notes, Worksheet with Answers, and a Video Reflection Activity The following topics are covered: Longitude Latitude Prime Meridian Mercator & Conic Projections Sectional Aeronautical Charts Relief Charts Hydraulic features Cultural features Airport Classification FAA Airways Special-use Airspace Sectional Charts: Video Reflection This assignment is a Video Reflection of Remote Pilot Knowledge Test: “Sectional Charts Overview”. It describes how to read Sectional Charts. The video is approximately 15 minutes long. “Learn about sectional charts for your Remote Pilot Knowledge Test in this quick overview video. Includes examples of chart symbols, maximum elevation figures, types of airspace, and 5 practice questions and solutions.” This video is available on YouTube for free. Buyer's Comments: "Great resource, thank you!" It includes manufacturing problems and design problems. This video is available on YouTube for free. This is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbThYDBp9V8 I show this video to my Aerospace Class every year. It describes how the 787 was designed. Air Crash Investigation-Miami Mystery Several years ago, an amphibian passenger aircraft’s wing fell off shortly after takeoff, killing all aboard. This video documents the investigation as to what went wrong. This video is available on YouTube for free. The link is included with the download. Turbine Jet Engine Poster Activity. Students identify and describe the functions of the different sections of Turbojet, Turbofan, Turboprop and Propfan engines and how the different type of engines compare to each other. File Includes: Activity Handout Turbine Engines Fact Sheet The teacher can have the students hand draw the different engines. To save time, print up extra Turbine Engines Fact Sheets and have the students cut out the engine images and paste them onto their poster. The Aircraft Structure & Powerplant Review Pack consists of a Three Page Study Guide, and a Justpardy Review Game. The Aircraft Structure & Powerplant Study Guide is three pages long. The front page has over 20 key Primate Vocabulary Words that the students need to define. The second page has 7open response type questions the students need to answer. The third page has an image of an aircraft with different sections numbered. Students need to identify the name of each section. This is a PDF file. The Aircraft Structure & Powerplant Justpardy Review Game PowerPoint. Justpardy has a similar concept to the game seen on TV Game Play Suggestion Set up tables in front of the classroom, 1 table per team. It is my belief that the teacher needs to let the students know exactly what they are expected to know by the time the unit is over. This also gives them time to work on their project. This assignment can be an additional assessment for students or the main assessment used. Megastructures Airbus A380: Video Reflection Activity This video tells the story of how the Airbus A380 was designed and built. *********************************************************************************************************** For updates about sales and new products, please follow my store: My TpT Store I would love to have you follow me on my Facebook Page My Facebook Page If you have any questions please contact me at the following email: [email protected] ********************************************************************************************************* Customer Tips: How to get TPT credit to use on future purchases: Please go to your My Purchases page (you may need to login).
