Adoption life books can help fill in the gaps for children adopted at an older age. Here are 12 important things you'll want to consider adding.
How many times have you heard someone say admiringly “girlfriend is totally rocking that angry, bitter thing?” How ‘bout never? Lately, I’ve recognized bitterness in myself. It feels funny, like shoes that don’t fit but that I’m wearing anyway. I try to shrug off bitter. Sometimes I can, but it’s temporary. Bitterness sneaks back. Sometimes I...

Our latest profile book is done! It's actually been done since October, but I'm just now getting around to posting it, as blogging has been a little on the back burner lately. For this profile book, I wanted to do something different than our first one. I loved our first book but felt like I wanted something a little cleaner and simpler this time around. I designed all the pages in photoshop then uploaded them to blurb to print the book. I loved the quality of their books last time around, so we went with them again and were not disappointed. Also, Silas is in this book, which significantly ups the cuteness factor. And, here are the digital versions of each page, in case you want a closer look... I've had a lot of questions since posting our last profile book about where to find graphics and how to design the pages. If you are looking to design your own profile book, there are great fonts on dafont. You can also find tons of great graphics in their dingbats section. If you don't know how to use adobe programs like photoshop or illustrator, you could try picasa. It doesn't work for everything, but it allows you to make collages and create pages. I made most of our first book in that program before learning how to use photoshop. follow: Facebook / Bloglovin' / Instagram / Pinterest Tweet
For our adoption, we had to make a profile book for the birth parents to look at. I started this back in September because, at that point, I knew we would most likely be adopting sooner, rather than later. I'm glad I started then because it took me forever to finish. But, I am really happy with how it turned out. I designed each page in Picasa. Using something like photoshop or illustrator would have probably been much more user friendly, but I tried to make do with what I had (and it was free). Then I just uploaded them into the book. I ordered the book through blurb, and I am really happy with the quality. I originally ordered one from a different company and was not impressed, so I tried again with blurb, and it is much better.... For some of you, those pictures may be enough. But, I am sure that most of you would like to spend half your day reading all about us. So for you guys, I have uploaded each individual page of the book just so you can really soak it all in. So, Belle is still in our book, as it should be. She will always be a part of our family, and our children are going to know all about her and the source of joy and comfort she was to me while we waited for them. Welcome back to Day Seven of 10 Days of Scrapbook Layouts! Things are winding down and I hope you've gotten some inspiration from these pages. Today I have a real simple page I did to commemorate my first ATV ride after some major surgery. In this layout, I think the paper makes the page so I did not want to cover too much of it up. Just two pictures (one of me and hubby) are featured with a simple tire track down one side and a die cut heading. The only journaling is a black strip under the horizontal photo. The yellow of the page really makes those red ATVs stand out! Since I already had the tire tracks I made for the layout above, I decided to put together a whole "Off Road" set. You can get it HERE. Be sure to stop back tomorrow as I'll have another SVG Freebie for you! This page is entered into the following Challenges: Crafty Boots---Yellow
To all of the parents out there thinking about adoption or in the midst of raising a child, this is for you.More than 30 years ago, my parents decided to adopt after several unsuccessful attempts to have a third child.
