Ah… sweet springtime is right around the corner and It’s time to breath in that fresh spring air and shake off those winter blues. When I think of spring I think of flowers, markets and super fun colorful and funky accessories. Now that it’s starting to get warmer we can ditch the scarves and beanies and dust off those gorgeous necklaces, head scarves and stunning earrings that are just waiting to be worn. When I wrote the Trinity Earrings Crochet Pattern it was the middle of winter and I was daydreaming about how much I wanted spring to hurry up and get here (it must have been as really harsh winter that year, lol). I was picturing all of the cute spring outfits I would wear and what accessories I would pair with them because accessories can totally make or break an outfit. Earrings were a no brainer. They had to be fun, flowy and a little funky and the Trinity Earrings totally fit the criteria. I always loved the idea of tassels on earrings but was worried that it would make the earrings too heavy. Thankfully the light weight of the embroidery thread kept the earrings at a comfortable weight even with the thickness of the tassel because lets be honest we love a juicy tassel. These earrings make the perfect spring accessory and would be a beautiful addition to your spring market inventory. Fasten off and weave in your ends. (30) Making the Tassels: –To make the tassels, wrap the crochet thread or embroidery floss around a 6 inch object approx. 40 times, cut the thread. (I wrapped the thread around my cellphone) –After wrapping the thread, cut the bundle on one side creating a bundle of 12 inch strands. Leave out 2 of these strands. Use one of the spare strands and tie a knot in the center of the bundle. –After tying the knot, fold the bundle in half and use the 2nd spare 12 inch strand and tie a knot about a ½ inch from the top of the fold to create the puff of the tassel. Incorporate the ends into the tassel, then trim the tassel until it measures approx. 2 inches. –To attach the tassel to the earring, use the 2 strands at the top of the tassel to tie the tassel to the bottom center of the earring. Weave in the ends and trim. Finishing the Earring: -To finish the earring, use chain nose pliers to attach the fish hook earring to the hoop. You can do this by attaching the fish hook straight to the earring or through a designated hole attached to the earring (depending on your preferred brand of hoop, I used the Fundamental Findings Large Earwires) or by attaching a jump ring and attaching the fish hook to the jump ring. ENJOY!
