If you're interested in making one of those adorable Cards in a Box, I'm including the template and added instructions so that you can easily make it to fit into one of our standard envelopes (to fit 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card). Begin with a piece of cardstock cut to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". Score at 1/2", 2 1/2", 4 1/2", and 6 1/2". Then score along the other edge, beginning at the end without the 1/2" score line, score at 3" but end the score line after three of the scored sections as shown. I've written the measurements on the template. Please note that the red dotted lines mean cutting lines. The remainder of the lines are scoring lines. You will note the absence of a line on the last section, right by the tab. This section remains unfolded while the rest fold over as shown below. This is how the paper looks folded. You will also require one additional strip of cardstock measuring 1" x 5". Cut this in half. The two pieces will be 1" wide and 2 1/2" long. Each one is scored at 1/4" and 2 1/4" and then the ends are folded in a "Z". Put double sided tape along the tab for the box and also along each of the 1/4" tabs on the small pieces. This is how the box will look assembled. There is no bottom to the box. The inside dividers (small "Z" folds) are approximately equally spaced. And after that it's all a matter of decoration. Be careful not to have too much of an overhang at the top or sides or it will make it difficult to fit the collapsed card into the envelope. If you run into any difficulties, just drop me a line and I'll try to help you through it. Have fun. NOTE: You can also make this box out of a piece of 5" x 8 1/2" cardstock. This will allow you to place some of your embellishments a bit higher out of the card and still allow the folded card to fit into the envelope. In this case, follow all the directions above, but score at 2 3/4" instead of the 3". This will give you a base that is proportionate to the top.

Jan.14/11 Here is a different tri-fold card. I saw this card here and thought it was a really neat fold. I hadn't seen one like it before. I had a problem getting the other one to fold flat, maybe I did something wrong, but since I wanted mine to be smaller, I went ahead and re-worked it to make a smaller version. Here are the instructions for the smaller tri-fold card. You can click on any of the pictures to get a better view of the measurements. Here is the template - the solid lines are cut lines and the broken ones are score lines. First Step - cut your card stock to 7" x 9" On your trimmer line up the 9" side of card stock at 1" and cut from 1.5" down to 7.5". Turn paper to opposite side and do the same. (On the picture I show it lined up at the 1.25" line, which is not correct, it should be at 1" - sorry about that) 1) Place paper in your Scor Pal - as shown in picture. 2) At the 1.5" mark score a line between the cut lines. 3) Move left edge of paper to the 1.5" mark and score between the cut lines at the 4.5" mark. 4) Now move paper back to the left side and at 4.5 score only down to the cut line. Do the same again below the lower cut line. 5) Now score at the 7" mark only to the cut line. Now score at 7" mark below the lower cut line. (these 7" score lines are not shown in the above picture, but they are in the next picture) Now fold as shown in picture... 1) mtn fold 2) valley fold 3) mtn fold 4) valley fold 5) mtn fold 6) valley fold This is how it folds to put in your envelope. This is the latest boat design similar to the (4) boat unit, but instead it has (4) boats on the bottom that are on a fixed cross-member that is 24" in width. The lower unit travels in a clock-wise direction. The upper unit travels alone as a (2) boat unit on a 18" cross-member in a counter clock-wise direction.
