It hasn't exactly been beach hut weather here this week but here are two new huts for you to see. The first one proved to be quite popular when I put it on ebay and I had requests for more to built. It's nice to still be thinking of the seaside and holidays when the rain is being blown horizontally at the windows!
The Housekeeper's Room is the last room on our tour. When time permits, the Housekeeper can toast crumpets on the open fire. Although there are no "people" in the house, I felt it necessary to have a vague thread of a story in my head which helped with the detail so to that end the trunk that sits on top of her wardrobe is full of what I consider to be the Housekeeper's memories - items which belonged to her husband. The "tools of her trade" are displayed on the table - her keys and the Accounts book. Some bedtime reading (when she has the time) stands on the bedside cabinet and her slippers are tucked away neatly below. I started this project from the bottom up and I think it's pretty evident how much more aware of detail I became as I moved up and learnt more. I was unsure for a while as to how the inside of the roof should be completed and I did, at one point, consider decorating it to match up with each attic room but by the time I got to that point I just decided to paint it but to give each window a treatment that matched the room it belonged to so the store room and Janey's room were given blinds - plain and serviceable - and the Upper Hall window was given a decorative finish to match in with the windows in the halls on the lower levels. I knew from the start of this project that I would be decorating the inside of the doors or the "fourth wall". It was something I just couldn't not do. That completes the tour and the Hambleton Hall build. Thank you to all who followed me and passed on such lovely comments, each and every one has been very much appreciated and I'm planning on a little giveaway to say "thanks". Watch this space! THANK YOU FOR VISITING

We're done with "Somewhere in France" dollhouse! This is a commission for Sharon in Australia. This house has a long trip home! This house is 24" across x 24 1/2" tall without the chimneys. The chimneys are a couple of inches tall and are not glued on for shipping. And it's 21 1/2" deep + 3" or so for the front porch floor which is also not glued on so the house can fit in the box. This is a side door into the kitchen. Living room with working fire. Entry hall. View from front door towards the back. This is the kitchen. Upstairs. This is the bathroom. All the windows open. Door into the bathroom from hallway. Upstairs hallway. The bedroom with all opening windows. The massive attic! No time to rest on our laurels! We have Roberta waiting on her commissioned dollhouse! See you next time! hugs,
I'm obsessed with vintage stoves, new stoves, ovens, cookware , bake-ware, and anything that has to do with kitchens and I always have been. I have a vintage stove top in my real kitchen and love it. I collect vintage bake-ware in my real kitchen too, and have a bit of an addiction to All-Clad cookware! Bowls, wood cutting boards, cream-ware, Pyrex, and oh my lots of other things kitchen related, I've probably got a bit of them all :) ....I'm beginning to think the miniature oven thing is getting a bit over the top lol, probably because I can only fit 1 real oven in my real house, I've found a way to collect many "little" ones with miniatures...and I'm not ready to give up my addiction yet :) So until I do, you'll see a few bursts of oven mania now and then :) After all, I can design new mini kitchens around them, so that makes me happy :) So here's the latest... A little professional looking faux stainless steel range.... Loving this one :) This one I bought awhile back so I could photograph my minis for Etsy on it , because I loved that look! But it's also found it's way into my gourmet kitchen I did a month or so ago. I did some styling with it today and loved how it looked in a pink kitchen setting too! Cherry Puff Muffins anyone? I made them just for you! :) I did a pink checkered floor to match , I've been working on a couple new kitchens with them and I plan on making one for Summer Rose soon! Pretty in pink ..... I've always loved the stainless steel professional look, just as much as the vintage ones, so I had to have a little Miele :) My all time favorite miniature stove would be a La Cornue Chateau Range. So if anyone see's one, let me know! {In mini } It's my dream kitchen range for my real kitchen too! Who can resist the little light? Not me :) And my tried and true Aga, another dreamy one in real life! And last for today, but not least , was a sweet find and vintage favorite!! Its very rare too! It was made by GE to use as a little promo and it's a perfect scale replica of the one they sold in the 50's. I heart this one :) Well that's enough about my addictions today :) What are yours? I love hearing what everyone likes and collects! *** I also want to take a moment here to tell you how much I appreciate you! I cannot thank you all enough for buying my book and most of all, for loving it!!! I've received so many emails and comments that you love it and I get teary eyed on each one and over the moon happy hearing your thoughts and compliments! It means so much to me that you love it! So.....Thank you, Thank you ,Thank you!! You are the best!!!! Hugs and love!! Cynthia xo
Chronicling my obsession with modern dollhouses and miniatures.
I love to decorate my table for all the different holidays. I recently went to a fund raising event called Tablescapes, where they decorated tables in many different themes. It was right up my alley! I took pictures of some of my favorites that I want to share with you, but first...here is my Easter table. Now here are the different tables from Tablescapes... Love the jelly beans... I have had these same green glasses for 25 years and I've never used them. I loved them on her table and came home and put them on my Easter table. Love the little dish with sand and a candle at each place setting. Love the garden lanterns in all sizes filled with candles and plants. Love the vase filled with little bird eggs. Love the basket filled with grapes, bread, and wine. Love the stack of different colored plates. Love the square plates and the tomato salt and pepper shakers. pretty colors Love the notecard used as a placecard. This was the cutest idea for a couples tool & garden shower. They had a big tree branch coming out of a burlap sack with tools all around the bottom. The had cloth napkins in paint cans filled with crackers and other foods. So cute! The tree branches can be used as a money tree. I hope you got some ideas you can use for your table!
As I have mentioned before, most of the materials I use come from charity shops. Every so often though, I find I need to buy “proper” stuff – you know, new things; like equipment (hello haemostats), or glue, or specialist … Continue reading →

New larger version of mason de poupee, French style dollhouse. The French inspired dollhouses take a slightly higher direction with this newly completed house. More rooms, hallways, and a stunning tall roof line for this custom 3 inch laser cut railing. Grand entrance way to the lovely house. The laser railing at the roof line was custom sized and created by Sharon Monroe. She is the magic behind the wonderful selection of awesome laser dollhouse trims you can find at heritagelaserworks.com i just recently found Sharon and we have been working together, she has duplicated all the designs that had been made for me previously by sawdust man who is no longer around. so please check out her website, or contact her for anything I have used in the past, as well as all her lovely new things. This 3 inch railing was the icing on the cake addition for this house. A Quick peek inside the front door before we turn the house around. let's see things from the back. First floor rooms in detail. Now up to the second floor. The rooms at the top. Now, back out front for a closer look at the garden flowers and window boxes. Nice full and dripping flowers. Also a delicate black enhancement on the corners to move the black placements all over the house. Nice ornate black scroll fence. Winter white rose bushes at the two corners and at the entrance. The floral color pallet was kept in mostly white, pink and lavender tones. This larger French house is fresh and crisp from the outside, and rich with color on the inside. It was a fun project. I had a few design challenges working with older wood, but in some ways it has given it a charm not found in brand new kits, or composition board. The next house project is a summer cottage home, with lots of gingerbread.
This is a modern reproduction of a vintage French dolls house I saw in an old magazine. It was sold in the very last few minutes of the Leeds Fair.
How fun, I'm so excited to see my mini work in the DollsHouse World (UK) Magazine November 2019 Issue. Here is a sneak peek of the article in the "Meet the Maker" Section.
