Use these color and shape sorting activities for preschoolers to teach perschoolers how to sort and classify objects. Attribute sorting is fun!
I love to use interactive organizers in my math journals! This activity is FULLY aligned to TEKS 6.2A which is to classify numbers into rational, integers and whole numbers. This download is 2 ACTIVITIES PLUS GUIDING QUESTIONS! The graphic organizer for math journals comes with an organizer to assemble and numbers to sort and classify. I have included guiding questions for the teacher to lead the class in a rigorous, meaningful conversation or the teacher could use these questions as journal prompts. This download also comes with a Google Interactive Activity. The Google activity is a digital organizer that has 33 numbers to sort and classify. This can be used as a partner activity or a formative assessment. Your students will be engaged and excited to learn all about classifying numbers using this activity! This Montessori learning activity focuses on matching miniature common objects to their matching realistic photo cards. Children lay out the cards and place the miniature object on the matching picture. This activity is small enough to take with you and can be extended into pretend play with the mini objects. Matching Skill - Visual Discrimination: This activity focuses on more advanced preschool matching. The objects are not an exact copy of the photo so children need to carefully observe details to match correctly. Children problem solve by looking at distinctive attributes that they can see on both the object and the photo. They may begin by looking at the shape or function of the object in order to match them correctly. They might ask themselves "which objects are tall and skinny?" or "which objects have holes?" Recognizing these little details helps a child grow their category knowledge and learn new vocabulary! What is Included: 1. Colorful Plastic set -----17 miniature objects. (approx 1-2" long) -----17 laminated cards professionally printed on 100# cardstock and laminated with 5 mil lamination. The cards are classroom tough. Cards are 2.6"x 2.5" 2. All Wood Object set ----17 miniature objects. (approx 1-6" long) ----17 laminated cards professionally printed on 100# cardstock and laminated with 5 mil lamination. The cards are classroom tough. Cards are 2.6"x 2.5" What they are learning while having fun - Matching objects to pictures encourages one-to-one correspondence (basic math skill) and visual discrimination. - Observing and comparing small details to match correctly. Comparing involves identifying similarities and differences among objects - Children can group the figures by similar traits - this is sorting and classifying! - Children gain experience with one-dimensional print, and learning to connect real objects to print. These bags contain small parts that may not be appropriate for children under the age of 3. Adult supervision is required. Custom orders are available, just send me a message!

Social Studies Books to Promote Diversity in the K-8 Social Studies Classroom
We read The Crayon Box That Talked and then discussed how differences make each of special and allow us to do bigger and better things together. Then we illustrated ourselves on a crayon and colored our crayon. We read Elmer and discussed how sometimes when we feel different, we try hard to be like everyone else, but it's really better just to be your self. We colored our own Elmers and shared how we are different. We read Whoever You Are by Mem Fox. We talked about how our skin may be different colors, but we all have feelings, likes, and dislikes. Then we examined a brown and white egg. We looked at the outside and compared/contrasted the two. Then we cracked our eggs and compared/contrasted the inside. We recorded our observations on a Venn Diagram. We made the connection between the eggs and people; the only difference is on the outside. Then students shared a way they the same with their partner and wrote a rebus sentence about what they both like. We read The Peace Book by Todd Par. Then we wrote a five senses poem about peace through interactive writing.

High or low friction and the types of friction are included in this resource with 18 full color, digital or printable images that can be used for the younger grades or brought up to upper middle school/high school with in-depth studies of the coefficient of friction. The images can simply be grouped into high or low friction and utilized as discussion prompts or they can be used for the students to do further research and discuss the main types of friction. As a teacher that teaches multiple grades I like to design resources that I can adapt through different ages or use in a differentiated classroom with varying abilities. I have included background teacher information on friction and for each image so that it could be brought up or down depending on your students. You are sure to come up with other creative ways to use the situations to add to your unit on forces. The resource includes: *18 full color images on the top half of a 8.5 x11 slide format with a space for a text box on the bottom half *Teacher notes- discussion starters for each slide *NGSS statements *Two student prompt cards/ slides at different levels(see preview) *Chart for students to classify high vs. low friction This is uploaded as a PowerPoint and can be printed out or use in a digital science notebook sent to their devices using Google slides. Please look at the preview carefully as the entire product is shown. There are several methods I use to get this resource to students. Since this is a PowerPoint, I simply upload it into a Google slides presentation and share it on Google Classroom with each individual student. The students can then copy which slides they want and paste them into their own Google Slides unit presentation and add text boxes. You can export the PowerPoint into images and then send the images to them in Google Classroom. You can download the PowerPoint into images and place all of the images into a Google Drive folder to share with the students. If you are using iPads, in the same room as the students, you can simply AirDrop the images, Powerpoint or Google Slides presentation to their iPads . If you have any questions at all, as to how to use these, please contact me at [email protected] and I am more than happy to help you! This activity works well with: Force Diagrams Motion Activity-Vector Arrows on Action Photos MS-PS2-2 4 Types of FRICTION- Matching Game Cards Review Assessment Are you looking for other science resources?
