(40 pieces jigsaw puzzle) Standing tall and stiff and still, Like soldiers in a row, The red and purple tulips In straight long lines do grow. Very proud and grand they look, I'm sure they never played. If I was a fairy small Of them I'd be afraid. But fairies do not seem to think Of minding them a bit! They shake the stalks, and climb up them, And in the flowers sit. Excerpt from 'The Flowers that Frighten Me' by Marion St John Webb (The Flower Fairies)
(40 pieces jigsaw puzzle) A naughty elf I often see Hiding behind the old willow tree He always has such games and fun Teasing the fairies, one by one. In and out, he'll play for hours, Round about the trees and flowers. He hides behind the snap-dragons tall That grow along the garden wall. And the flowers he will squeeze To make a dragon's mouth, just to tease. As elves and fairies walk on by He tries so hard to make them cry. But they just laugh and run away. "We know who it is," they say. Then the naughty little elf Has to play all by himself. Excerpt from "Dragon's Mouth" by Marion St John Webb (The Flower Fairies)

(35 pieces jigsaw puzzle) The toad had never seen a fairy, So, of course, he used to say, "I don't believe in fairies. There are no such things today!" One day he went walking Across the marsh and beyond. He found a daisy meadow, With a little hidden pond. And over all the water Fairies darted here and there. The toad sat silent, watching, Then asked them what they were. They told him they were fairies. But he gave a croak and said, "There are no fairies living, All the fairies now are dead!" "You must be some new insect." And he gave another croak. Then he picked himself some flowers. "Fairies! What a silly joke!" The fairies started laughing: "You may call us what you will. It really doesn't matter, There are plenty fairies still!" Excerpt from 'The Tale of a Toad' by Marion St John Webb (Pond/ Water Fairies)

(35 pieces jigsaw puzzle) Inside her little coral house Miss Herring worked all day and night. Her stitches were small and neat, Her silky dresses soft and bright. But loveliest of all the frocks Was specially for the Fairy Silverlocks. The Fairy Silverlocks was asked If she would dance and sing At Lady Haddock's special tea For the birthday of the Cockle King. The fairy nodded her silver head. "I will do so with pleasure," she said. Then she hurried to Miss Herring's house. "I need one of your special frocks!" "A seaweed dress, I think," Miss Herring said. "You will look lovely, I promise, Silverlocks." Miss Herring stitched and stitched some more Then worked harder than ever before. The seaweed dress was wonderful, And beautiful to see. And nothing else was talked about At Lady Haddock's tea Except the dress of fine seaweed green, A dress that might be worn by a queen. The Cockle King rose to his feet And smiling gave his hand To Silverlocks, as she danced there, Twirling over the sand. And very brave he must have been, For Silverlocks became his Queen. Miss Herring pinned a notice up: "By Royal Appointment to Her Majesty the Cockle Queen." And so her fame it grew, Until all the fishes came in flocks To buy Miss Herring's seaweed frocks. (35 pieces jigsaw puzzle) Four forest fairies, what have they got? Each one carrying some paint in a pot... "We don't like the forest's dark colours," they said. "So let's make it much more cheerful instead." They crept through the forest as it grew light. "Let's paint this fat toadstool, and make it look bright. We'll give it a new hat As easy as that," They said to the toadstool so fat. But one of them soon let his paintbrush fall, And said, looking up through the dark trees tall, "I'll paint the pale moon Before she fades soon She'll be gone by noon." The three others laughed, and they started to sing: "You can't paint the moon, you silly young thing! No, certainly not. Now here's your pot. Paint what you've got!" The small fairy sighed, and he shook his brown head. "Then I'll dream that I'm painting the moon," he said. So he slept on the ground While the others painted round The fat little toadstool they'd found. Excerpt from "Paint Pots" by Marion St John Webb (The Forest Fairies)
