With expressive line work and bright neons, his editorial illustration has been picked up by clients including Nobrow Press, _The New York Times_ and Opening Ceremony. Ben Zank (previously) captures emotions of confusion, restriction, and ennui and in his ongoing series of banal-meets-bizarre photographs. Each image features a single subject in a seemingly mundane location: on a city sidewalk, near a semi truck trailer, or in a forest. Yet the individual at hand is engaged with or affected by their surroundings in highly unusual ways: one figure bends backward under the weight of long birch branches stuffed under his shirt; another is sandwiched in a layer cake of collapsed cardboard boxes. Happy new year folks! Let’s start the 2014 with the wonderful surreal portraits by the American artist photographer Benjamin Zank.
Benjamin Zank is a young fine art photographer based in New York City. He caught the photography bug a few years ago, at the age of 18, after picking up a
