1908 features the Ionian cable from my Irish Coffee Tunic, translated into a completely different garment. This top is a versatile pullover that works equally well as a vest, a tee, or a long sleeve sweater. It pairs some eye-catching texture with gorgeous, vibrant color in a classic silhouette. The cables on this sweater are easily memorized and fun to work. As always, there are small details throughout the design to keep it fun and all of the transitions are intentional. The hem goes from ribbing into cables with a beautiful curve, the armhole shaping leaves you with a neatly finished edging, and the sides of the body are designed to allow for modifications for fit, should you desire. I’ve knit my 1908 with short sleeves and a cropped length, and I chose this stunning Indigo-dyed shade in A Verb For Keeping Warm’s Horizon to add a little pop of color to my wardrobe. Because really, this blue??? I LOVE IT WITH EVERYTHING. But maybe especially with big, wooden earrings and terra cotta linen. Horizon is one of my favorite yarns - a soft and round Rambouillet worsted that I’ve used in the past. It’s a perfect weight for a little warmth, it’s next-to-skin soft, and it’s a joy on the needles. Kristine’s hand dyed colors on this base never disappoint, but this yarn is gorgeous in natural shades as well. Plus, the designs I’ve knit out of this yarn in the past have held up beautifully for years. A Beer on the Dock Anchor Steam The Botanist Horizon loves a cable, keeps its shape and doesn’t pill. It’s also sustainably made by a wonderful person. What more could a knitter want? The sweater is worked from the bottom up in the round and separated into front and back at armholes. Upper body is then worked flat in two pieces to shoulder. Once shoulders are seamed, stitches around armholes and neckline are picked up and worked in the round. Cable instructions are both charted and written. Sizes 33.5(37.5,41,45.25,48.75,53)(56.5,60.5,64,68.25)” 85(95.25,104.25,115,123.75,134.5)(143.5,153.75,162.5,173.5)cm around body at bust, based on final blocked fabric. I suggest choosing a size that allows for 4-6”/10-15.25cm of positive ease for a loose, easy fit. Or choose the size that allows for the amount of ease you like in a sweater! Yardage Per Size 1000(1100,1200,1300,1400,1550)(1600,1650,1700,1750)yds 915(1005 1100,1190,1280,1375)(1465,1510,1555,1600)m of light worsted weight yarn needed. Sample knit in Indigo Blue Sky. NOTE: Please READ both cable chart and setup instructions carefully. Pattern as written is correct, but you cannot just repeat from the chart without also looking at the written instructions for your size, or you will not have the proper stitch counts. Do not skip the specific column repeat instructions, do not forget the “p2” noted in the notes, and do not forget to increase as noted from ribbing to cable pattern.
