Remove any weeds in the area you'd like to plant your bulbs and dig at the soil to aerate it. Fork in some organic matter to improve the drainage and soil structure. Daffodils prefer sunny spots and well-drained soil, so keep this in mind when planting. Plant each bulb 2-3 times the bulbs height and place it with the shoot facing upwards. Space them twice their width apart. Cover with soil and water if the ground is dry.

Muscari Valerie Finnis is a perennial flowering ornamental plant with between 1-3 stems or spikes of racemes of densely packed flowers. Urn-shaped flowerheads of pale lavender-blues encompass the upper half of the flower stems. Accompanied by narrow, strap-like dark green foliage. Hardy and like a shower of pale blue flowers, Muscari Valerie Finnis is tolerant of most climates and easy to grow while being a beacon of attraction for gardeners and pollinators alike in the spring season with gracefully beautiful and fragrant blooms. Plant in groups for blankets of blooms creating mounds of wonderful pale blues. Great to use at the front of beds or border or in pots, containers, in rockeries and for underplanting around trees and shrubs. Muscari are commonly known as Grape Hyacinth and it is easy to see why from their spikes of densely packed flowerheads which resemble bunches of grapes, although they are notably not Hyacinths. Muscari typically grow within the height range of 15-20cm, making them delightful accents in beds and borders. Hardy plants that are tolerant of extreme weather, Muscari can overwinter in most environments with ease. Low-maintenance, Muscari are a bulbous perennial which is easy to grow and naturalises well, especially at the edges of a yard or in woodland areas. Companion plant with tulips and daffodils for vibrant colour contrasts. Muscari should be planted in fertile, well-drained soils in mostly sunny areas and are tolerant of some shade. Plant Muscari approximately 3 times the height of the bulb or about 5-10cm deep and about 5-8cm apart for beds. Muscari are generally shorter plants of about 15-20cm and make great plant for underplanting with taller blooming plants or use in pots and containers for accents to use around patios and walkway areas.
This elegant jonquilla daffodil will provide a cheery performance wherever it’s planted, be it pots, borders or through grass, although it’s a particularly popular and useful choice for naturalising and growing in shady or woodland spaces. Despite its delicate looks, Narcissus ‘Pipit’ is as tough as old boots - thriving in sun or shade and taking each year in its stride, putting on an easy and rewarding display which just gets better and better every time. Producing multiple blooms per stem, you can expect a long-lasting zesty display of lemon-yellow which will bring effortless spring cheer to your garden during March and April. ‘Pipit’s yellow blooms with a glowing white trumpet means it provides its own two-tone contrast, but for added depth and contrast, try combining it with woodland blues, such as bluebells, chionodoxa or anemones. There’s nothing better in spring than a good supply of fresh-cut daffodils to display in your home, and Narcissus ‘Pipit’ provides it by the plenty. Multiple blooms per stem, the ability to naturalise and produce more flowering stems each year plus an impressive vase life is a winning combination for anyone who like to create beautiful indoor arrangements.
