BJØRK (from Norwegian: ‘birch’, Swedish / Icelandic: ‘Björk’ ) is a raglan sweater knitted from the top down in the round. It features a striped pattern consisting of knit and slip stitches. First the neck is cast on using a provisional cast-on and folded-over, then the neck is shaped with German short rows while working raglan increases at the same time. Raglan increases are first worked in main colour and later in pattern. Afterwards, the sleeves and the body are separated and worked in pattern. The simple 1x1 rib on the cuffs and hem are finished with a tubular bind-off. I’ve named this pattern BJØRK because the pattern reminds me of the beautiful bark of a birch tree. For an oversized fit, choose a size 15-25 cm larger than your actual chest circumference, for a relaxed fit - 10-15 cm larger. For reference: the sample in the photo is in size 3 with 25 cm positive ease. Yarn kit for STRUCTURE LOOP SWEATER by Other Loops in Önling No 1Structure Loop Sweater is a beautiful, oversized sweater with stripes in structured knitting across the body and sleeves. On the shoulder you'll find a rib detail, which continues along the armhole and down as a panel along the side of the body. The sweater is designed by talented Maja Kløvdal aka @otherloops and here we knit it in Önling No 1 (angora and merino) for a perfectly soft and joyful result. You can also knit in our alternative kit with 1 thread No 20 (shetland wool) and 1 thread No 10 (silk mohair) held together for a warmer sweater with a more rustic look, yet with the softness of the silk mohair. In addition, we have made a kit with 1 thread No 15 (merino wool) and 1 thread No 10 (silk-mohair), which gives a light and soft sweater, completely itch-free and with a modern merino / silk-mohair expression. This kit contains: Yarn for the elected size and color. PLEASE NOTE: - This kit does not include a pattern. You can buy the pattern at otherloops.com - The model shown in the pictures on this page are designers own and NOT worked in Önling yarns. Choose size and color for your yarn kit above. The gauge is very important - especially the height, as several measurements in the pattern is described as a number of rows. If you do not match the gauge in terms of number of rows, we recommend you try to switch to needles in another material. Knitting process:The sweater is worked from the top down. Stitches are cast on for the back of the neck and then worked with rib stitch in both sides, and at the same time increases are worked to form the top part of the back panel. Then stitches are picked up along the edge of the shoulders, and the shoulders are worked individually back and forth. Stitches are then cast on to join the 2 shoulders into the front panel. The front and back panels are joined, and the body is worked in the round on a circular needle. The body is finished by a bottom rib hem. The sleeve stitches are picked up from the armhole, and the sleeves are worked in the round and finished by a rib stitch cuff. Finally, stitches are picked up from the neck opening and worked in rib stitch. The rib stitch neck hem is folded double and knitted down. The structured stripes on the sweater start on the back and front panels and continue down the body and the sleeves. Follow the placing and the chart for the stripes as described in the pattern below. Please Note: The price of the yarn kit is calculated based on the amount of yarn included, which is the amount we have used to knit the design according to the above measurements. Should you need more yarn, additional yarn can be purchased at regular prices by placing an order and state LOT number in the comment box at checkout. All designs have been thoroughly calculated and tested. Photo credit IG @annette.knit @memo.knit @mit_strikke_univers @blaastrikken
