The sketch at Freshly Made Sketches was just too tempting this week, especially since I was looking for inspiration to try out yet more new things! Sometimes I'm my own worst enemy. I love sea themed sets. I love hybrid embossing folders. So why ever thought that I did NOT need to have the Seaside Wishes bundle is something the completely escapes me. I saw it in the annual catalogue and tried to exercise restraint.... which held until about three weeks ago when I finally ordered it. Now that it's arrived, I'm calling myself six kinds of fool for delaying so long! 😀 Here is my first outing with it.... The first thing I noticed is that the hybrid folder is wonderful all on its own, as you see in the white panel. I did a second pass and using the dies to get the sand dollar in the cluster, which I cut from Basic White and sponged with Misty Moonlight. The second thing I noticed was how realistic the embossed sand dollars look. The third thing I swooned over was the lacy die cuts, which I cut from Basic White and sponged with Misty Moonlight (larger) and Pool Party(smaller). It paired up a treat with DSP from the Country Woods collection which, despite the name, has quite a weathered beach feel to many of the papers. For embellishment, I added in a trio of blue gems from the Tinsel Gem Three Pack. And did I mention there's a splatter stamp in the set? Who doesn't love a splatter stamp! Plus there are some textured rocks that haven't seen ink yet but I'm itching to try them out too. I think I'm going to have some fun with this set! Watch this space for more experimentation! As much as I love flower stamps, sometimes it's nice to play with something different! The Seaside Wishes bundle has some beautiful shell and starfish images and dies, and also the ability to give them a 3D look using the co-ordinating Hybrid embossing folder. This ocean-inspired colour scheme is Basic Beige, Misty Moonlight and Pecan Pie. I made my own Designer Series Paper by stamping on Designer series Paper! This is a sheet from the Country Lace pack (who would've thought - for an ocean-themed card?!). I stamped over the subtle Basic Beige pattern using the Sand Dollars, small starfish and ink spatter image. I kept it simple and just popped on a few Flat Adhesive-backed pearls for embellishment. Hello and welcome! Today I'm sharing my project for this week's Just Add Ink sketch challenge. The three repeated elements made me think of shapes in my new Seaside Wishes stamp, die and hybrid embossing folder bundle. I used a mostly neutral colour combination of Basic Beige, and white with a touch of Petal Pink and Calypso Coral to make this soft, pretty card. Seaside Wishes is the first bundle I have that includes a Hybrid embossing folder and dies and I am impressed with how you can emboss and cut three Sand Dollars at the same time in one pass with the machine. The folder and dies can of course also be used separately too. The stamps in the set are from our Distinktive range, which give a photo realistic, shaded image with just one stamp. I used Calypso Coral ink stamped off to create a softer look. See the pic below for a closer look at the components of the bundle. But back to the card. The base white layer is embossed with the folder. Then I stamped and cut out some beautiful large and small starfish shapes, and cut some more die cuts, and began by layering the three elements over a line of iridescent ribbon to form the main sketch elements. I added other elements on top to create some texture and interest. You can see part of the the embossed base in this pic. I snuck in some small die cut flowers from the Country Flowers stamp and die bundle that were on my desk, as they looked like mini starfish to me. A birthday sentiment from the Country Birdhouse stamp and die bundle stamped in Crumb Cake ink on Basic Beige cardstock. Love some mixing and matching! Inside, there's more stamping and some more die cuts. So that's my take on the challenge. Head over to the Just Add Ink blog to see all our team projects. You're sure to find something to spark your own creations and we love to see what you make. If you'd like to try this yourself, head to my Stampin' Up store for what you need. Summer Splash with Seaside Wishes Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We have been focussing on the new In Colours and this week we hero the 5th of the In Colours. Soon, we will return to the continuing Stampin’ Up! colours, working though them in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week. This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a bright turquoise called Summer Splash. Summer Splash is another of the 2024-2026 In Colours and this colour sits nicely in between Pool Party and Bermuda Bay. In comparison to the retired Coastal Cabana, Summer Splash is a stronger colour. This colour is lovely for bright colour combinations, it would be great for water themes, and so much more. Summer Splash is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; In Color Designer Series Paper; In Color Glimmer Speciality Paper; Unbounded Beauty DSP; Unbounded Beauty Memories & More Cards; Bordered Ribbon; and In Color Resin Dots & In Color Shimmer Gems. The name of this colour made me think of water, water colouring and the new Seaside Wishes bundle and so designed around these thoughts. Recently, I saw a fella wearing a Summer Splash coloured jacked with Night of Navy trousers - it was so striking so this became the start of my colour combo. The creativity process started with a water-colour wash using Summer Splash Classic ink on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper for the card background. The wide Water Painter was used. Once dry a Summer Splash Stampin Write Marker added some splatter. One of the smaller textural stamps added Summer Splash images underneath the skeleton sea dollars. Only a little of the stamping is visible on the finished card. The sand dollar was stamped in Basic Beige Classic ink onto Very Vanilla card-stock. The star fish were stamped in either Night of Navy or Summer Splash inks. Little white dots were added with a white pen (from the stationery shop). A little of the other colour was blended on to a section of the star to give a bit of shading. The coordinating dies and the Seaside Wishes Hybrid Embossing Folder cut out the stamped images and the skeleton sand dollar dies cut the filigree pieces from Very Vanilla card-stock. The background was embossed with the new So Swirly Embossing Folder. I thought this folder reinforced a sense of the swirly sea. The water-coloured panel was mounted to a slightly larger piece of Summer Splash card-stock and some Linen Thread was wrapped around the panel. All the pieces were arranged and adhered with either Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Mini Dimensionals. A sentiment was white heat embossed onto an off-cut of Summer Splash card-stock and fussy cut. A Linen Twine bow was tucked under the end of the sentiment and adhered with a Glue Dot. The final touch - a scattering of some Flat Adhesive-backed Pearls. Love these pearls. A Very Vanilla card inner was stamped with a Summer Splash sentiment (from the same stamp set). A thin strip of Summer Splash card-stock was adhered near the bottom and a left over skeleton sand dollar and a few star fish link inside the card to the front design. As I custom cut the slim-line card, an envelope was made from some of the Unbounded Beauty DSP - Summer Splash design. A Very Vanilla label, cut using the Unbounded Love dies was adhered to the front of the envelope for writing the name and address. I also created this card with a friend in mind who really helped me out recently - I hope she likes it.
