Merci! For our 100th day of school, we decided to incorporate the celebration into our weekly family pizza and movie night. This was meaningful because we were able to involve my husband when he got home from work:) 100 Topping Pizza We used the tens bundles we had been making throughout the year to measure how mean rows of ten toppings we needed for our Hundred Topping Pizza. While my kids only eat cheese pizza in real life, we made our pretend pizza a supreme! brown circles for sausage red circles for pepperoni black circles for olives green rectangles for peppers yellow rectangles for cheese. 100 Pizza We made Bagel Pizzas and bread sticks (store bought in freezer section) for dinner, and each person got their very own 100. Simple Bagel Pizzas Package of Bagels (we use Everything bagels) jar of spaghetti sauce package of mozzarella cheese Prehreat oven to 350 degrees Split the bagels in half and lay on ungreased cookie sheets Spread spaghetti sauce o top of each bagel Top with Cheese Put in oven for about 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted 100 Cake Our "100" day cake had 100 sprinkles on it! I just used a store bought cake mix and icing kit. 100 Day Printable We took a break from our kindergarten curriculum to have a relaxed day and do a couple 100's day worksheets.
Last week, we celebrated being 100 days smarter! It was the 100th day of school, which is so hard to believe that the year is more than halfway over! After our reading block was over, we did all things 100! We always make these sweet little ladies and gentlemen! {I am not even sure whose original these idea these were, since they're everywhere now!} This is one of the funniest things we do all year! I just love reading what they come up with! Cara Carroll has the cutest 100th Day Freebie, so we used those stations for our math block. They were super easy to prep! We didn't have time to do all of them, so I adapted it down to five stations. I have to say that even second graders had a blast with those stations! They giggled and laughed, and they didn't want to stop playing! These were a couple of the books we read. We also read 100 Snowmen, which was super cute! I rotated these posters around to each table. I gave each table 5 minutes to add as many things as they could think of. We did 100 things I've learned, 100 acts of kindness, 100 math problems, and 100 words I know. I thought I would share my visual lesson plans for the week. We will be learning all about penguins and place value. Here are the links to each of the resources I will be using: Penguin Chick Supplemental Pack Penguin Directed Drawing Penguin Craftivity from Waddle With Me: A Penguin Unit Penguin Bottle Craft Paired Comprehension Passages Adjectives No-Prep Mini-Pack My class definitely needs to revisit place value before we move on to triple-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping. I am using my Place Value Learning Centers for partner practice. I will just rotate each center each day between five groups. Amy Lemons' s place value unit is full of great activities, so I will be using the rest of that for independent practice. Here are links to the resources for math: Place Value Learning Centers {Hundreds, Tens, and Ones} Playing Around with Place Value I hope that was helpful getting a little peek into my week! Have a great rest of your day!
This past week we celebrated our 100th day of school! Lots of fun activities were planned to celebrate the day and I ordered some goodies from Oriental Trading as well. I can't wait to show you what we did. We started off the party with decorating crowns to show we are 100 days smarter! I love these ... Read More about 100 Days Smarter!
We have been getting ready for the 100th day of school in our classroom. We have been counting by 10s, by 5s, and by 1s to 100. We have been learning what 100 looks like. We have been exploring 100 in many ways... A yummy activity to practice counting to 100 by tens. If you would like to do this activity with your class, you can find it at Teachers Pay Teachers. Just click on the link or image below: Count-by-10-ice-cream-fun A class quilt to practice counting to 100 by fives. The kids were so excited about this when they came to school and it was all put together and up in the room. They spontaneously broke out into a chant counting. It was wonderful! This activity really helped solidify the concept that ten groups of ten make 100 for my little students. I got this idea from a pin that originally came from For the Love of Kindergarten http://kindergartenfreckleteacher.blogspot.com/2012/02/this-week-in-pictures-and-links-2-62-10.html She has some other fun ideas for 100 and lots of other cool stuff going on in her class last February. This was my take on the paint dots idea. Thanks Cindy! If you would like to get the printable shown in the photo above along with all sorts of other goodies for your class, you can get it here: Print and Go! 100 Days Math and Literacy (NO PREP). You can also do the dot painting this way too. It's fun to make 100 gumballs. This sheet is also in my Print and Go! 100 Days Math and Literacy (NO PREP) . All you have to do is make copies, put out the paint, and you're done! Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! We did the 100s chart puzzles a few days before the actual 100th day. I made them in several colors so that the kids could keep track of their pieces easier. And so that our bulletin board will be more colorful. Ha ha! This is one of the activities the kids did independently on the 100th day. Small groups worked together collaboratively to build a structure with 100 blocks. Looks Great! Another activity that kids had to do independently and collaboratively was to find the 100 hearts hidden around the classroom. They found all but three and worked together to put them in order. They needed 71, 84, and 86. They were hidden in the felt board area in the bag with the felt shapes. Tricky! The hearts are tipped because they were too pointy to stand straight in the pocket chart. Speaking of pocket charts, in this photo, mine sure looks old. Maybe it is time for a new one... We also had a center for the kids to make a bag with 100 snacks. Some teachers call this activity a trail mix. I call it snacks. We do a very simple version of it. I put each of the ten snacks out on a table. Students each have a baggie with their name written on it. They take turns going to each of the snacks and counting out 10 into the baggie. The kiddos were so excited to eat it at recess. Yippee! Each child got to make a special 100s day hat with 100 stickers on it. They look so cute wearing the hats in the classroom. Fun! The most challenging activity of our 100th day was writing about what you would do if you had $100. Most of my students this year decided to spend it. One or two decided to save it. One little boy said he would give it to his family. I thought that was sooooo sweet! Here are a couple of interesting ones: "I would buy a peecok." "I would bi a hol oshin!" I love the kids' drawing and writing! So cute. This prompt is so fun to see what their ideas are about. I do this every year for the 100th day. UPDATE JANUARY 2015: This year, I finally made the time to create all my favorite activities for the 100th day in a time saving, black and white ink saving, Print and Go! pack. If you are looking for some new things or some oldies but goodies that have cute graphics and simple layouts for young students, you should go check it out. (Just click on the image below to go get it.) I hope you have a wonderful 100th day celebration with your sweeties! Happy 100th day! Happy teaching!

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!! It's been fun reading all the comments and having so many join the fun for my giveaway. Here are the lucky winners- Randi @ Teach It With Class, Annie First Grade, and Suzy Q I'll be contacting you! It's been a fun couple of weeks and I've got pictures to prove it! We did our sink or float experiment today and the kiddos had a blast. They got so excited for science! I love it. I have to really structure this activity because I don't want water every where. Each student has a specific job to do and they HAVE to work as a team of scientists! We also did another experiment last week called the 'Great Meltdown'. In groups again, my group of scientists had to find out what the best way to melt an ice cube was. We used sand, salt, snow melt, blowing on it, and even sitting on it. Snow melt won! It's been busy, we've done a LOT of measuring in math. We measured with kid steps, baby steps, basketball shoes, tiles, cubes, and paper clips. I love the pictures where the firsties are helping each other with the kid steps. They are holding each others hands so they don't fall over. Sorry this is such a long post. But I think all the pictures were just so darn cute! Anyhow, if you stuck it out till the end, here is a freebie. We are working on vowel combination-this week is oi oy and next week is aw au. Here are the sheets I made for us to do. Most of the graphics are DJ Inkers. Click on the picture for a PDF. Tomorrow is 100th day!!! I'm tired just thinking about it! Thanks for stopping by! Have a great tomorrow.

Welcome to a 100th day of school celebration in French. This package of "Ceci ou Cela" questions specially designed for the "centième jour d'école" will get your students speaking in French as they learn about each other and express their different choices. This set of slides is made with Google Slides™ and can be presented during a "live" meet. You could also use these to present face to face within the classroom. If you are using these remotely, students can put up one or two fingers depending on their choice and then explain why they chose the one they did. In the classroom, have students stand in a line in the middle of the room. They can then move to either side depending on which option they choose. This can lead to some great discussions as students discover those with the same interests ****Please make sure you have a Google account before trying to download this product.*** Be sure to look at some of my other resources for the Hundredth Day of School: 100e jour d'école You can find all of my Google™ friendly resources here: French Resources for Google Classroom™ Keep in Touch: Blog: www.teachingfrenchimmersion.com Facebook Pinterest
