Gray Granite with Joy of NOEL & Framing Foliage Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week. This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a mid warm grey called Gray Granite. Gray Granite is one of the Neutrals Colour Family and is a grey with a touch of brown. This colour is lovely neutral that coordinates with so many colours. I do love pink and grey - as you can see in both of my cards for this blog hop. Gray Granite is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; Neutrals Designer Series Paper as well as Earthen Elegance DSP, Colourful Kaleidoscope kit and Sentimental Rose All-inclusive Kit & Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack. Gray Granite card-stock, ink and Baker’s Twine Essentials pack have been used in the creation of these projects plus a range of non-Gray Granite bits and pieces. My first card features Gray Granite with a little Petal Pink and touches of Soft Sea Foam. The card base and background use Gray Granite card-stock. The background was stamped with the larger Christmas arrangement from the Joy of Noel set with Versamark Ink and White Emboss Powder and a Heat Gun. A little White Watercolour Pencil lightly coloured the image. The background panel was cut down using the largest Deckled Rectangle die. A little White Craft ink was blended over the edges. This panel was directly mounted onto a slightly larger piece of Basic White card-stock. Using the Joy of Noel stamps, the NOEL was stamped in Petal Pink Classic Stampin’ ink and “Joyous” in Gray Granite ink. The curved Christmas arrangement was stamped in 2nd generation Gray Granite ink and then coloured with Gray Granite, Petal Pink, Calypso Coral and Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends Combos. The NOEL was backed with Foam Adhesive sheet and cut out with a coordinating die from the Joy of Noel dies. The other part of the sentiment and the coloured arrangement were both fussy cut - the latter only because I was sitting with a dog on my lap so couldn’t get up to die cut with the coordinating die. A thin strip of Petal Pink Glimmer paper from the Three Colour Glimmer Speciality Paper (a new online exclusive) was flagged at each end and laid across the card. A Basic White label, cut using the largest Stylish Shapes circle die was embossed with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder and adhered with Dimensionals. Some Wink of Stella was splattered over the card front. The remaining pieces were arranged and a double Linen Thread bow adhered in place with a Mini Glue Dot. The final touch of glimmer was the addition of Adhesive-backed Glitter Sequins. The Basic White card inner was simply stamped in Gray Granite ink with the curved arrangement. A Basic White C6 envelope was similarly stamped with the same stamp in Gray Granite ink. CARD 2 The second card has a similar colour scheme, although a couple of different colours were used when colouring the main image. I hadn’t inked the Framing Foliage stamp set so white heat embossed the Christmas frame onto a Basic White piece of card-stock. This panel was diagonally blended half with Gray Granite and Petal Pink inks, making it a little darker around the embossed image. The image was “bleached” with water and left to dry - that is, a wet fine tipped Water Brush was used to lift the ink within the image. Once dry Stampin’ Blends Combos, ie Gray Granite, Petal Pink, Old Olive, Calypso Coral, Pecan Pie and the Colour Lifter were used to colour the image. A White Watercolor Pencil was used to add highlights. The letters from the Alphabet A La Mode dies that spell “Happy” cut Basic White card-stock backed with Foam Adhesive Sheet. “Christmas” from the More Wishes stamp set was stamped on Basic White card-stock and fussy cut. The “Happy” letters were arranged in a higgledy piggledy fashion. (I liked the way the letters were originally arranged but they didn’t end up the same way when adhered. A little bit different makes a difference!) The card was finished with a double bow of Gray Granite Bakers Twine from the Essentials Pack, some gorgeous Adhesive-backed Speckled Dots and a splattering of Wink of Stella. The card inner was simply stamped in Gray Granite ink on Basic White card-stock using the edge of the Christmas foliage frame stamp. A Basic White C6 envelope was similarly stamped with the same stamp edge, but on both shorter edges of the envelope. Thank you so much for dropping by on you way around the Colour Creations Blog Hop. I know we are a smaller group this week but I am sure there will still be so much Gray Granite inspiration shared. To continue with the Gray Granite blog hop just click the "next" graphic below to be taken to the blog of my friend, the lovely Christine Blain. I am looking forward to checking out Christine’s creation(s). I do love seeing everyones' projects. I do hope to see you next week when we will be featuring Highland Heather as we continue the weekly 2023-2024 Colour Creations Blog Hop series. We are also sharing Christmas inspiration through the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop every week, going live Monday nights until the end of November. We would love you to drop in then as well. Early Expresso with Joy of Noel and One Horse Open Sleigh Fun Fold Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week. This week’s Blog Hop is featuring on a deep brown called Early Expresso. Early Expresso is one of the Neutrals Colour Family and is a warm rich brown. The colour would be a lovely neutral when used for trees, wood, earth and is great colour to dig up for fellas. Early Expresso is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Watercolor Pencils; Neutrals Designer Series Paper as well as One Horse Open Sleigh, Traditions of St Nick and Fresh As A Daisy DSPs; All About Autumn SDSP; plus Cosy & Bright and Sentimental Rose card kits. Early Expresso ink, Stampin’ Write Marker and One Horse Open Sleigh DSP have been used in the creation of these projects plus a range of non-Early Expresso bits and pieces. I am trying to build my Christmas card stash and so wondered how I would go featuring Early Expresso as it is a colour I use in-frequently, usually for trees/wood and the like. In checking out the DSPs that incorporate Early Expresso I decided to use the One Horse Open Sleigh DSP and remembered a fun fold that Rachel Tessman, a lovely US Demonstrator, had demonstrated recently. Also, I saw a quilting fabric that combined an Early Expresso type colour with Pool Party and Balmy Blue within a roses design so wanted to try a floral style card too. Here it is: CARD 1 The One Horse Open Sleigh DSP (it’s an online exclusive) has an Early Expresso woodgrain design and it was torn and used with some Dry Brushed Metallic Speciality DSP for the card background. The Very Vanilla card base was stamped with the textural stamp from the Joy of Noel stamp set in White Craft ink. While it could be seen when the ink was wet the effect disappeared when the ink dried. Partial stamping was added to the woodgrain DSP. A Very Vanilla card front was cut using a mid-sized Deckled Rectangle die. The label was stamped with the larger floral spray in Early Expresso Classic Stampin’ ink. A little Early Expresso splattering was added to the label with a Stampin’ Write Marker. The spray was stamped again on a separate piece of Very Vanilla card-stock, but this time in Versamark ink and heat embossed with Gold Emboss Powder, the Embossing Accessory Kit and a Heat Tool. This second spray was coloured with Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, Balmy Blue and Blueberry Bushel Stampin’ Blends combos together with the Colour Lifter. Some leaves and berries were fussy cut. Some of the leaves and berries were laid over the same shaped leaves/berries that had been stamped in Early Expresso. They were adhered in place with Mini Dimensionals and touches of Multipurpose Liquid Glue. NOEL (from the Joy of Noel stamp set) was gold heat embossed and die cut with the coordinating die from the Joy of Noel dies. Some Foam Adhesive Sheet was added behind the sentiment prior to die cutting to give the letters added dimension. I had a water-coloured flower left over from a previous project and added it to the card to give extra interest and dimension. It had been created using the Paper Florist dies and coordinated with these berries. Some Iridescent Basic Pearl Jewels were coloured with the 500 Stampin’ Blend to give them a vanilla tinge. They were scattered around. A triple Linen Twine bow was tucked under the flower with a couple of Glue Dots. A Very Vanilla card-stock panel was partially stamped with the Christmas arrangement in Early Expresso ink. A left over strip of woodgrain DSP was adhered partially over the stamping and down one side. A Very Vanilla C6 envelope was also stamped with the same stamp in Early Expresso ink. Earlier today, before writing this post, I checked out a Stampin’ Up! Facebook post where they used some similar products to this card but kept the colour combo to neutrals. I love their neutral toned design - it’s worth checking out if you have time. It’s interesting how similar projects are created independent of each other but with similarities. It has happened to me before. One could say, “great minds think alike” or even “There is nothing new under the sun”. CARDS 2, 3 & 4 As mentioned, the One Horse Open Sleigh DSP is gorgeous. Each 6”x6” sheet has a winter scene on one side and a more subtle design on the B side. While we don’t have wintry snow scenes - especially for Christmas I thought this DSP would be brilliant for my overseas friends. I wanted a way to show the beauty of the scenes and so ended up with what Rachel Tessman called an Autumn Hidden Scenery Z- fold. I converted Rachel’s measurements to suit our A4 sized card-stock. A card-base was chosen to suit the DSP design and it was cut, scored and burnished. The Scenic DSP was trimmed into 3 panels and a 4th piece was cut to the same size from another piece of DSP that coordinated with the scene. The pattern chosen for the card pictured above was a bit dominant so I embossed some Vellum card-stock with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder to tone the DSP down. Another piece of the card-stock used as the card base was cut and folded in half before being trimmed with a mid-sized square from the Stylish Shapes dies. The die was positioned so it wouldn’t cut the fold off but would add the stitching all around. One size smaller square die cut 2 Basic White squares for each card. The front square was stamped with Early Expresso ink to coordinate with the scene. The card above was stamped with trees from the Grassy Grove stamp set, where as the two other cards were stamped with a twig wreath from the Cottage Wreath stamp set. A coordinating die cut wreath from the Country Wreath dies cut Basic White card-stock. Both the card shown above and the one below were coloured with Old Olive ink and a Blending Brush. Wreaths were chosen as both cards had snow covered houses as part of the scenes and so I thought of wreaths for their front doors. Sentiments were stamped with coordinating colours and fussy cut. They were added with Mini Dimensionals. Gold pearls from the Festive Pearls were added to each card for that bit of shimmer. A piece of Red & Gold Dotted ribbon was deconstructed and then some of the strands were tied into a bow for card pictured above. The other 2 cards had Linen Twine bows added with Glue Dots. The second Basic White Stylish Shape square was stamped with a sentiment and image to coordinate with the overall card design. Early Expresso ink was used for the Petal Pink card pictured above. There is room for a brief personal message, but if you are long winded (like I tend to be) a message could also be written on the back of the card or a separate sheet added within the envelope. A Basic White C6 envelope was also stamped to coordinate with the card it will hold. Here are each of the cards opened to show the gorgeous wintry Christmas snow scenes. Thank you for dropping in to check out my Early Expresso cards. I hope you liked them and found something of interest. I do so appreciate you. There is more Early Expresso creativity so continue with the blog hop. Just click the "next" graphic below to be taken to the blog of a special lady, Rachel Palmieri. Hi friends, I always have bits & pieces of designer series paper, so I have used pieces from the All About Autumn Specialty Designer Paper (#162178) for this card. I cut one piece with a die from the Countryside Corners dies (#161471) and a piece of Pretty Peacock card (#150886) was also cut with the next size larger die. These pieces were taped together. I dry embossed the Very Vanilla card front (#106550) with the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder (#162189). I attached a piece of the DSP to the left side of the card front then attached the die cut pieces. Another strip of the DSP was attached across the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430), then the sentiment was taped on top. “Happy Birthday” is from the Garden Meadow stamp set (#162736) and stamped with Pretty Peacock ink (#150083). This was also cut with a Countryside Corners die. The butterfly is from the Enchanted Butterfly stamp set (#161279). This was stamped with VersaMark (#102283) and I used Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder (#155555) then set it with the Heat Tool (#129056). Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (#144108) were used to attach the butterfly to the card. The card front was daubered with Pretty Peacock ink then attached to the Very Vanilla card base. “Love what you do and share what you love.” INSPIRE. CREATE. Hello and welcome my friends, My name is Vicki Boucher and I'm from Melbourne, Australia, I'm still on holidays and we are now on the Gold Coast, QLD for our family holiday reunion. Today, I'll be sharing with you another colour for Colour Creations blog hop and we are now at week 14 with the Art With Heart Team in Australia. The next colour is Bubble Bath, which is part of the Subtles Collection and I just had to create a card using this colour before I left Melbourne. Bubble Bath comes in Cardstock, Classic Ink Pad, Ink Refill, Embellishments, Designer Series Paper and other Stampin' Up! products. I went with a subtle look for Bubble Bath and created a shabby chic style card for this week's project. It's a pretty pink, I've paired it with Moody Mauve by stamping the roses from the Layers of Beauty Stamp Set and then die-cutting it out using the Layers of Beauty Dies. I used this fun technique that I learnt from Cindy Schuster over on Stamping Through the Catalog on Instagram, she made a beautiful card using Stampin' Blends as a paint brush to colour in the roses and only using minimal colour. It's very effective technique by using coloured shading where needed. I also used Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends for the leaves and a tiny bit of Moody Mauve for the center of the roses. The choice of Stampin' Up! designer series paper was a mix of Nature's Sweetness DSP; Country Woods DSP and Perennial Lavender DSP I just couldn't resist Crumb Cake gingham paper. I also stamped the roses onto the gingham paper in Crumb Cake. I like to rough up the paper by using the blade from the Paper Snips Scissors and run it along the edges of the paper. Another way to add interest is to tear up strips of paper and layer them over one another. Before I added the subtle roses onto the paper, I used the Spotlight on Nature Dies and die-cut out a paper ring using Basic White Cardstock. To finish off the card I used the Country Birdhouse Stamp Set for the sentiment, stamped it in Moody Mauve and fussy cut out the greeting. I also added a few of the Brushed Brass Butterflies to the card. Thank you for visiting my blog today, I would so love to hear your thoughts on my project by leaving a comment below. Hello and welcome, My name is Vicki Boucher and I'm from Melbourne, Australia. Today, I'll be sharing with you the first of many blog hops. It's Week 1 of Colour Creations with the Art With Heart Team in Australia. It's been a while since my last Colour Creation and I'm so excited to be joining the team. The first colour is Boho Blue which is part of the In Color Collection for 2023 - 2025 and Stampin' Up! sure know how to create some beautiful new colors for us to play with! I would have to say it's my favourite out of the five. New colours means new Stampin' Up! products to try out from the Annual 2023 - 2024 Catalogue and I'll be showing you the Textured Floral bundle 161232 which is on page 65 of the catalogue. Textured Floral Bundle 161232 The stamp images are distinktive and I just love the boldness of the flowers. Purchase as a bundle and save 10% off the price of buying the stamp set and tool separately. Plus, bundles will help you quickly cut out stamped images for a single project or create multiples of the same project with ease. I could see these flowers used for a Mother's Day card which I think I might need to do very soon. The colours I've used for my card are Boho Blue, Misty Moonlight, Crumb Cake and Sweet Sorbet the flower images are stamped onto Basic White Cardstock. I like to start with the largest image in Boho Blue then Misty Moonlight, Crumb Cake for the leaves and Sweet Sorbet for the smaller flowers. I added tinier, flower stamped images in Boho Blue. To finish off the background panel I applied Boho Blue ink with the Blending Brush and added colour around the edge of the cardstock. One thing I like to do when I receive new ribbon is pull apart the ribbon, so you get more strands to play with for your projects. Here I've wrapped the thin strands around the cardstock and then layered the flowers and foliage with adhesive. I then added a few more strands to the card, plus Boho Blue Solid Gems and finished off with the sentiment. Thank you for visiting my blog today, I would so love to hear your thoughts on my projects by leaving a comment below. Now for the next blog please visit the very talented Kathryn Ruddick on the link below. For today's project... My title is a little bit misleading. That's because it's not 9 squares, but 9 rectangles. I thought 9 rectangled sounded off. In fact, rectangled is not actually a word. So that's probably why. But I digress. Either way - I'm lovin' the layout. This card came about because I was going through some of my older cards to donate to the church. Whenever I do that, I pull a couple aside that I like the layout or fold, for inspiration for later card making. For this card layout - I thought the Garden Walk Designer Series...
I'm here today to bring you my card for the NEW challenge we have over at Just Add Ink Challenges - Just Add Ink #673 - Just Choose Two Challenge. Today for our Just Choose Two challenge (to choose two items to feature on your project) we are choosing from Doors, Windows and Flowers. Flowers was a given for me as I love creating with just about anything floral but my other item to feature was a bit harder to choose. I went with Window but not using an acual image of a window but making a window in my card by making a Split Window Card. I've used a Calypso Coral card base and then for the flower element I've used the Stampin' Up! Garden Wallk DSP. This is stunning DSP and there is something in it for everyone. The flowers around the side of the window have also been fussy cut from the Garden Walk DSP. I've finished off the card with the Black & Very Vanilla Large Check Ribbon (which I cut in half), some Linen Thread and some Blooming Pearls. There are lots of AMAZING creations from the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team on the JAI Blog. Go and check out to see what 'two' elements they all used this week and then while you are there you can see how you can enter your project. Can't wait to see what 'two' you used.
