The newly rebuilt Japanese battleship Ise undergoing sea trials in 1936, prior to the second world war. Apart from the six twin 14" gun turrets, she bears little or no resemblance to the ship seen in the earlier photos. She now sports a massive "pagoda' superstructure, has lost a funnel, and has been re-engined, with oil fired boilers, new turbines have doubled the power output, she now produces over 80,000 SHP as opposed to her original 45,000, which has increased her speed from 23.5 kts to 25.5 kts. she has been lengthened by some 25 feet, and her original complement of torpedo tubes has been removed. she is now as capable a capital ship as any in the world at this time.
