by Saul Cross (Author) Who was St. Bridget of Sweden, and how can her intercession transform your spiritual journey? Bridget's life, marked by wealth, royal ties, and profound charity, serves as an emblem of selfless devotion. Born in 1303 to a benevolent governor, she learned early the virtues of generosity and justice. As a member of the Swedish royal family, she continued these acts of kindness, ensuring care for all, even establishing a hospital on her estate. Yet, it was after her husband's passing that Bridget's spiritual path truly flourished. Giving away all her possessions, she founded the Brigittines, a unique monastery uniting men and women in worship. Her courage took her to Rome, confronting societal injustices, and later to the Holy Land, where she felt Christ's presence profoundly. Despite her royal lineage, Bridget's heart belonged to the needy and the divine. "Prayers to St. Bridget of Sweden" illuminates this saint's journey, allowing readers to draw inspiration from her life. Within its pages, beautiful illustrations enhance the reader's experience, while dedicated spaces invite them to pen down their own supplications. The book comprises 25 meticulously curated prayers and a powerful novena, all aimed to guide and uplift the spirit. Moreover, it delves into the captivating life of St. Bridget, from her early lessons in philanthropy to her enduring influence, even swaying the decisions of popes. Recognized as the patron saint of Sweden and later as co-patron saint of Europe, St. Bridget's legacy is a beacon of hope and compassion. The Revelations of St. Bridget were accorded an exceptionally high degree of authenticity, authority and importance from an early date. Pope Gregory XI (1370-78) approved and confirmed them and judged them favorably, as did Boniface IX (1389-1404) in the papal Bull Ab origine mundi, par. 39 (7 Oct 1391). They were later examined at the Council of Constance (1414-18) and at the Council of Basel (1431-49), both judging them to be in conformity with the Catholic faith; The Revelations were also strongly defended by numerous highly regarded theologians, including Jean Gerson (1363-1429), Chancellor of the University of Paris and Cardinal Juan de Torquemada (1388-1468).
