Ph: Karl Edward Frederick Olivieri This is the tutorial for my BioShock’s bunny mask. The easiest way to make the mask is to start from an animal Halloween mask. There are a lot of tutorial for this mask (I suggest you this one), but I couldn’t find a simple way to make the decorations. So I decide to write my own method. The mask: before and after. Keep reading under the cut ;) 1 - The base is a cat mask: this one is made out of cardboard covered with gesso. 2 - I cut the mask to get the right shape, both on the edge and around the eyes. 3 - I also cut the ears and I make a break on the edge (just because I think it’s more realistic). 4 - The new ears are made with thick cardboard. 5 - I apply the ears with some paper tape. 6 - I cover the tape with newspaper and vinylic glue, to make the junction more robust. 7 - I make a border around the mask’s edge with the hot glue. 8 - Making the decorations directly on the mask with the hot glue is very difficult. So I draw the patterns on paper, I follow it with the glue and than I cut the decorations. 9 - I glue the decorations to the mask. 10 - I cover all the mask with newspaper and glue. I also make a lot of layer of glue, to make the mask smooth. 11 - I also apply a bit of spray plaster because the mask wasn’t smooth enough. 12 - I paint the mask with gold paint (the plaster was white, so I didn’t need a white paint). 13 - I make the mask a bit dirty with brown paint and a old sponge. 14 - I throw the red paint on the mask with a brush. 15 - I apply the ribbons on the back of the mask with glue. And the mask is done! ^^
