Pinkerton Hot Springs is a rock formation made of thermal water. James Pinkerton discovered it in the 1800s. He wanted to create a travel destination, so he did so by building a resort and using the water from the spring to fill the pool. It later burnt down, and the Colorado Timberline Academy sits on land now. You can find this unique spot off Hwy 550 near Durango, Colorado.
