Stand Up Sit Down is used as a fun, quick brain break that gets students out of their seats for a few minutes. Your students will be able to come back from the brain break refocused and ready to learn! Stand Up Sit Down will allow your students to have a break from academics, without taking away many instructional minutes. How to Play Stand Up Sit Down can be played while students are at their desk or all together in front of the board. You will read the statement on the slide. Students will stand up when the statement applies to them or they agree. They will stay standing until you say “sit down.” The students will remain seated if the statement doesn’t apply to them. For example: You will read the slide” Stand up if you like tacos.” All the students that like tacos will stand. The students that do not like tacos will remain seated. After a few seconds of standing, you will say “sit down” and then read the next statement. Keep playing until you have done all the slides!
