This antique book, which is quarter-bound in green leather, dates to 1887 and is 824 pages long. It is "The English Illustrated Magazine, 1886-1887" and has beautifully-marbled endpapers, and hundreds of illustrations. It would be a perfect gift for an art history major, or an artist at any point in his or her career. The book is comprised of twelve issues of this periodical, from October 1886 through September 1887. The frontispiece is "Study of a Head" by W. Biscombe Gardner, after a picture by E. Burne Jones. The book was published by Macmillan and Company of London in 1887. It was printed by Richard Clay and Sons of London. This copy has raised decorated spine bands, with a stamped gilt title on a red block. Blue cloth-covered boards, and green leather corners. There are beautifully-illustrated Initial Letters and "Head and Tail Pieces" in this issue, and some of the artists included are Heinrich Aldegrever, Hans Sebald Beham, H. W. Brewer, Jan Dirk de Bry, Louis Davis, George Du Maurier, J. Fulleylove, Herbert Gandy, W. Biscombe Gardner, Paul Hardy, Nicholas Hogenberg, Hans Holbein, J. Buxton Knight, A. D. McCormick, W.
