She embodies the motivation of compassion in action, bestowing blessings of mercy and release from suffering. She engenders, nourishes, smiles at the vitality of creation, and has sympathy for all beings as a mother does for her children. Through her extended left hand, she pours down blessings which counteract illness and turbulence. Her practices and presence are said to bring about swift healing, peace to troubled circumstances, and long-life. White and radiant as the moon, White Tara is seated in this painting on a red vibrant lotus and floats above the waves of the ocean of consciousness. In her two hands, feet and forehead she has eyes, which view all beings with love and compassionate care. Covered in delicately painted rainbow cloth with gold, she is surrounded by a great gold and jewel nimbus halo including rose and blue lotus flowers. Exquisitely painted with gold embellishments. Provenance: This vintage thangka was personally selected and curated in Kathmandu during the mid-1990’s by the owner. It was painted by one of the top thangka painting studios in the Kathmandu Valley, which the owner supported for many years. Since that time, the thangka has been in the private collection of a retreat and spiritual practice center, which engaged in Tibetan Buddhist practices. The painting is imbued with the spiritual energy of years of practice and devotion by its residents and many guest Lamas and practitioners.
