I am still working my way through the commentary on the Book of Ruth. But I heartily recommend this. A commentary does so much more for the reader than simply reading the text. A commentary looks at the culture behind the text, explores the views of various other commentators, discusses the wording of various sentences -- and forces the reader to concentrate on the text and its contents, rather than just breezing through -- which is what a lot of people do with the Old Testament. There are good lessons in the Book of Ruth and much exists that gives one pause for thought. And once you have "paused," you learn more about how the text applies to you and your life and to your walk with God.
