NORO SILK GARDEN, AN ORGANIC MEDIUM WORSTED OR ARAN WEIGHT 4 VARIEGATED YARN FOR KNITTING A COLORFUL HAT, SCARF, GLOVES, PULLOVER, CARDIGAN, TOP, BLANKET OR BAG Noro's Silk Garden range celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2016. This beautiful yarn has a passionate cult following and deservedly so as it has been featured in thousands of projects on multiple knitting sites and is available in dozens of fabulous colorways. "I imagined a yarn that bloomed out of a garden of silk and silk/mohair fabric," said Mr. Eisaku Noro, its creator. It is an excellent choice for knitting and crochet projects ranging from socks to sweaters to hats and is a great complement to other Silk Garden yarns of the same weight. Because it is hand-dyed, the color variations in each skein and project will be different, and there may be subtle differences between the color palette you choose and the yarn you receive. Therefore, for the best results, work two rows from one skein and two rows from another skein in order to end up with an overall blended effect (which is necessary when you use hand-dyed yarn, such as Noro's yarn ranges). πππ’π¨π§ π‘π’π₯π’ π¦πππ πππ₯πππ‘ π¬ππ₯π‘: - 45% silk, 45% mohair, 10% wool - 4 (medium worsted/aran) weight - 50 grams (1.76 oz) skein - 110 yards (100.58 m) - Suggested knitting needles: US 7-8 (4.5 - 5 mm / UK 7-6) - Suggested crochet hooks: US 7 - H8 (4.5 - 5 mm / UK 7-6) - Stitches per 4" (10 cm): Knit = 16-20, and single crochet = 11-14 πππ’π¨π§ π‘π’π₯π’'π¦ π₯ππ‘ππ π’π π¬ππ₯π‘π¦ Eisaku Noro says that his yarn is processed with "human hands and old machinery so that natural fibers are not over processed. All of this is so knitters can feel nature more closely when knitting with Noro yarns. Impurities in the raw materials are carefully removed by hand without the use of chemical treatment which is not good for the fibers or the environment. We also aim to reproduce the colors of nature in our yarns: leaves for example, all look green, but in reality they come in countless variations of green. By mixing colors, we can give our yarns more natural feeling colors reminiscent of oceans, mountains, flowers, trees and so on." ~ Eisaku Noro ~ All animal fibers that are used in the yarns come from certified organic farms, from international sources such as Australia, the Falkland Islands and South Africa. Noro is personally involved with inspecting all aspects of production, from visiting the animal farms to checking the machinery used and keeping restrictions on the dye processes to maintain products that are as eco-friendly as possible. He says "Friction, rubbing and heat during processing weaken the fibers in direct proportion to the length of time they are processed. By dramatically shortening this process, we are preventing damage to the enzymes in the fibers and simultaneously profiting the environment." πͺππ¦πππ‘π ππ‘π¦π§π₯π¨ππ§ππ’π‘π¦ ππ’π₯ π‘π’π₯π’'π¦ π¬ππ₯π‘ -- Hand wash in 30Β° cold water with a gentle organic detergent to avoid (a) turning organic items into non-organic items since conventional detergents and other items in the laundry may contain chemicals and (b) shrinkage (especially if made from 100% of an animal fiber, such as wool, alpaca, or llama as these items felt so could end up shrinking to the size of children's or dolls' clothes) -- Do not machine wash -- Dry clean in petroleum solvent only -- Do not bleach -- Do not tumble dry -- Dry flat in the shade -- Iron on low heat FIND DIGITAL PATTERNS, KNITTING AND CROCHET MAGAZINES, OTHER YARNS, NEEDLE CRAFT TOOLS, AND GIFTS FOR KNITTERS HERE: https://www.etsy.com/shop/StitchRoundabout -- On a computer, scroll down to the menu on the left. -- On a phone, click on the down arrow under the search box to see the menu.
