(Please view large on black by hitting the "L" key for better viewing. Thanks!) In my never ending quest to shoot the Disneyland fireworks from every possible angle in the park, I broke off from out group at our photomeet last Friday and tried to find another long view down Main Street as the Train Station view is now obstructed by a giant Mickey Pumpkin in front of the Flag Pole. Of the four shows that Disneyland is currently showing each year, "Remember, Dreams Come True" is easily my favorite. As the Summer season has officially ended, "Remember" has returned to weekend showings, and it was wonderful to see it again after a three month break. One of my favorite scenes in the show is from the "Star Tours"section, just as they "blast off" and you hear pilot Rex say give the command to R2: "Light Speed To Endor!" I remember telling Mike and Gregg about my idea for this shot a few weeks ago, and this is what I was going for when I was shooting from the Train Station, but had to deal with the flag pole and the fact that the Nikkor 70-300 wasn't quite as sharp at that range. I think this spot, between the flag pole and Pumpkin Mickey off to the right, worked out fairly well. The tripod was tall enough to get over people's heads from that range, which only left balloons and kids on shoulders to contend with. WHY they sell those freaking light up balloons just before the fireworks begin is completely beyond me. If they sold them only AFTER the fireworks they wouldn't be killing the views of hundreds of people on main street. Drives me nuts... In other news, I really wanted to hang out with the gang after the fireworks, but I actually fell asleep for the first time waiting for the fireworks to begin, and thought I should call it a day. Just glad that no one walked off with my camera bag as I was sawing logs in front of the flag pole! Please view large on black if you have an extra second. :) Thanks for looking, and have a great weekend!
