Want to incorporate social-emotional learning with a quick transition or movement/brain break? This fun emotional-regulation and gross motor activity incorporates emotions with animal walks! By performing “happy penguin walks” or “sad bunny hops”, these animal walks are a great way to get children to identify emotions, develop self-regulation skills, and work on motor planning, body awareness, and gross motor skills all in one! This activity can be easily converted from distance learning/telehealth to in-person by printing and laminating slides and using them as movement cards. Printer-friendly cards are also included in this resource. This activity includes 12 different animal walks that come with 2 choices of emotions per walk. There are 13 different emotions total to explore. There is 1 "How Are You Feeling?" visual included in this activity to use for learning about emotions or a feelings check in. Written instructions are available on how to complete the animal walks in the Notes section. The Notes section also contains answers as to what emotion is under each box for each animal walk. Boxes and arrows are clickable on each page, so it is easy to toggle back and forth when presenting the PowerPoint activity. No other supplies or materials are needed with this activity. This activity is a PowerPoint file and requires PowerPoint to access and open. If you find an error, have a suggestion or have any other questions or concerns, please email me at [email protected].
