Positive and Negative Sculptural ART Positive space- filled in space, the subject Negative space- is the empty space surrounding the subject. Goal- Create a small sculptural piece with both positive and negative space. When you are ready to glaze it must be (believe it or not) MONOCHROMATIC ... one color!! You piece may be something utilitarian, decorative, abstract or representational. Whatever you choose make sure it follows there requirements. * must be no larger then your hand * must contain a significant amount of negative and positive space * must be VERY light in weight * smooth, smooth , smooth!!! or the monochromatic glazing will not have as strong of a visual effect if your construction is bumpy and sloppy.
