This assignment is for Act II, Scene II: the Balcony Scene. My main objective with Romeo and Juliet is for the students to understand Shakespearean Language since we read the original version. This activity is for students to translate the balcony scene and have some fun with it. They can use emojis and modern text messaging language for this as long as the meanings stay the same. They don’t need to translate every single line of the original, but they do need to keep the main plot points from the scene. My students do this on a word document and sometimes add bubbles or a cell phone images. I give free creative range on that aspect.
