This is a HUGE 113-page novel study on the book "Ranger's Apprentice: The Burning Bridge" by John Flanagan. It consists of an extensive chapter-by-chapter comprehension guide, which can be used as an independent booklet by students or as a discussion guide for teachers using this text as a read-aloud. All answers are provided. The questions range from literal to inferential, with text-to-world and text-to-self connections as well. Comprehension skills targeted include: author purpose, predicting, summarising, characterisation, sequencing, cause and effect and more. At the end of each chapter, there is a creative response. This is designed to be an open-ended, fun task for students with a high degree of student choice. Students can complete these tasks independently. Also included in this bundle is a teacher “cheat sheet”, for teachers who have not yet had the time to read the whole text. It is a guide to main events of the story so student understanding can be checked in reading group time. There is also suggested focal points for deeper discussion.
