We have discovered some amazing pieces of trench art at Brocantes but when we saw this one being unpacked at our local monthly market it took our breath away, without doubt one of our most poignant finds ever It is hard not to picture it sitting in a makeshift chapel near one of the trenches and conjuring an image of those praying before it, add to that the contradiction of the military equipment it is constructed from and you have a exceptional moving piece of trench art The crucifix stands 46cm/18" tall and sits in a metal stand which is a bit wobbly, the white metal parts are engraved with the cross of Lorraine, fleur de lys and a flower symbol A great survivor that would be the centre point of any trench art collection
