Remember the reference to Mamma Leone in Billy Joel's "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)"? Well, like thousands upon thousands of others, I got to eat at Mamma Leone's in early December 1978 when I was 15 years old. My older brother and I were in NYC with other high school students and were taken to Mamma Leone's for dinner one of the nights we were in the city (my only visit there). I remember a great ambiance and food and kept the menu all these years. And BJ's song, released in 1977, made the experience all the more meaningful. Sadly, the restaurant closed in 1994 as times and people changed. The full-color 17X22-inch menu (when unfolded completely) is gorgeous, with information about Mamma Leone, famous customers, a map and pictures of Italy, the menu, and even a postcard that could be cut off and used. It is printed on a nice, heavy paper with just the slightest texture to it. The menu has been stored inside a scrapbook all these years and remains vivid in every aspect. Other than minimal wear at the edges of the fold lines, its only other imperfections are tiny tears 1.75 inches down from the outer right edge (less than 1/4 inch) (you can make it out in photo 2) and a 1/4-inch one about 1/2 an inch up from the bottom right (I don't think it shows in any of the photos). A beautiful NYC memento for anyone who ate there, and probably particularly to New Yorkers, and would look beautiful as a framed piece of historical artwork.
